He met the mechanic’s keen hazel eyes for long seconds. “You’re sure?”
The man nodded. “Yes, sir. It couldn’t possibly have been an accident or normal wear and tear. If I was you, I’d check the truck every time I got ready to drive it. The fuel pump I replaced last week had some junk in it that looked a lot like sand or some other foreign substance. I drained and cleaned the whole fuel system to be sure it was clear. Now this. It don’t feel like coincidence to me…”
Ben reinforced the mechanic’s comments. “I don’t know what’s going on, Dan, but I’d agree you needto keep close tabs on your truck and whoever’s around it. Does anyone else at the ranch use it? Someone’s playing some ugly games here, if you ask me.”
