1 PROLOUGE

Steve wasn't a physic or a diviner or a prophet, however, he knew his marriage before God and man to Jody Davis was not going to be a happily ever after. Now, before you start concluding that he wasn't the sort of guy who believed in happily-ever-afters, he did. What was there to doubt when he watched his parents still in love and happy after thirty five years of marriage?

However, the moment he saw Jody walk down the aisle with her arms around her Father's arm, he took one good look at her face and knew something odd had happened. He couldn't tell what it was neither could he understand the expression in her eyes. Today made it two months that they had met but he knew her well enough when something was up with her, so he knew he wasn't imagining things even though he would have preferred to think he was.

He wanted to put a stop to their wedding, call her aside and ask her if she had any doubts but he was scared of her response. What if she said she had last minutes doubts? There were several things she could say that would definitely break his heart into a zillions pieces and put a full stop on their love story. He wondered if it was worth being selfish and to go ahead with the best decision of his life knowing that Jody would be unhappy. He knew he was supposed to listen to the Pastor's charge but he couldn't, all he could do was think.

And think.

For him there was not a single doubt in his heart that he loved her, not that there would ever be. In fact, he felt like Jody was his life.

But what if she didn't love him like he loved her?

At that moment her smaller fingers squeezed his and drew him out of his thoughts. He looked up into her eyes and sucked in a breath when he saw her hazel eyes swimming in tears. Just before he could step closer and ask her what the matter was, she mouthed three words as though she had heard his earlier thoughts.

I. Love. You.

Love for her filled his heart.

Even God knew love was the greatest of all things and he wouldn't doubt the all knowing, omnipotent God for anything. Whatever problems they faced, they would handle it. Or better still, God would help handle it. He trusted God to do that. Besides he trusted Jody too. To him, love and trust could as well mean the same thing.

That was the reason the minute Pastor Michael asked " Do you Steve Howard, take Jody Davis to be your lawfully wedded wife, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer till death do you part?"

Without the slightest hesitation, he said with all of his heart. "Yes, I do"Steve wasn't a physic or a diviner or a prophet, however, he knew his marriage before God and man to Jody Davis was not going to be a happily ever after.
