Reminiscence

What was this ?! She could see him? But how? It was impossible for anyone to see him with his ability activated, but this unknown girl could?
Ashley was bewildered, faced with the deathly silence around them. Now what was he brooding about?! She frowned, walked up to him and tapped his arm. 'Hello?'. She waved her hand in front of his face, immediately breaking his line of thought.
'You can see me?'. His voice barely above a whisper. 'Yes. Why wouldn't I be able to see you?'. As soon as she finished speaking she noticed a silver sheen surrounding his body, but this glimmer was gone as fast as it had appeared. Ashley slowly blinked and shook her head. She must be imagining things from her fatigue. She turned to walk away from the man seeing as they had no business with each other, but she was soon stopped in her tracks. 'Wait', that deep voice rang out in the silence. Ashley turned around, 'what is it?'.
A whole minute passed by and all the man in front did was stare at her with an impassive face. Ashley was starting to get annoyed at the man who did nothing but gawk at her like a stupid hawk. Seriously!, if he wasn't going to say anything then why stop her? Could he be one of those perverts with a kinky fetish hidden behind that handsome face? She knew how potent her beautiful face was, which was why she always guarded against men who got too close or were too kind without wanting anything in return. At the end of the day, they were either after her body and face at first glance or her power and connections when they got to know her. The only man she could be comfortable around was Dontae, an orphan and her right hand man who tirelessly worked for her, giving it his all saying that this is what he should be doing for her saving grace. Her eyes turned sad and gentle thinking about him. How was he and what was he doing? Was he devastated when she suddenly died like that? Who was she kidding, of course he would be. He was probably kicking up a big storm uprooting and torturing the people who murdered her.
At the thought of her death, she vividly recalled how an arrow had pierced her heart with such force that it ended up impaling her to the wall behind her. She sighed and stopped thinking about that painful memory even though to her it had only happened a couple of hours ago. She again gave out a frustrated sigh and prepared to quickly walk away from the man who was still watching her with an unreadable gaze. Just how many times had she sighed in such a short time? She was starting to act like a granny who could only sigh at her grandchild's antics. She took a step backwards making a U-turn when that same annoying voice rang out again but this time more desperate. 'Wait!'.
A sigh escaped her lips. Again. She looked at him face to face and finally snapped. 'What do you freaking want? Is "wait" the only word you know? If you have no business then scram!'. But instead of an apology or even an attempt at a conversation what greeted her was silence. AGAIN.
