Ashley's wit

She agreed??! Zenos thought that she would refuse. Had she truly believed that he was lost or was there some other reason? It didn't matter as long as she agreed. Zenos quickly walked to match Ash's strides and they walked in silence. They had left the corpses of the wolves and assassins behind while the thick smell of blood became faint. They walked for almost an hour in the darkness with Ashley being extra vigilant of their surroundings and the man next to her. Her night vision was something the body originally had and this helped her move around a lot easier plus she had years of practice so she could carry on with ease.
She didn't bother much with the man who had now found himself to be behind her. She couldn't care less whether he lived or died; it would have to depend on his ability. Zen mused about the silent treatment he was receiving. There were people who would be scrambling at his feet just to have a single conversation with him, but here she was not giving him a single thought. Well, it might be due to the fact that she didn't know his identity. Although Ashley had no idea about his identity she could tell that he was strong. Even if she did know his identity she still wouldn't try to butter up to him because she was a strong woman, honed by battle experiences with wit and wisdom. Thus, it didn't miss her sight that none of the assassins were able to see him and all came for her, so she decided to test the waters by letting him know that she could see him and as she had expected he was surprised.
Now, people would call her stupid for blowing her own cover. Couldn't she just pretend that she couldn't see him as well since she noticed that the assassins couldn't? But no, Ashley didn't think like that. She thought that if the man was somehow out to get her then he may send his men in the future after her and it would be a pain to be going around killing people around her wherever she goes and it could also hinder her future plans. So she took a gamble to let the man know her strength all the while pretending to act innocent as if she hadn't noticed anything and as anticipated, the man wanted to follow her. But that didn't mean that she would act all buddy buddy with him; she will let him know that she dislikes him and does not place him in her eyes.
They walked several kilometres away from the heap of carcasses as the blood would attract more beasts. Ashley came to a stop at a clearing and made her way towards the thickest tree she could see. She inclined her head towards Zen who just stood there.
'Go get some firewood'. Since he sent himself here then she was going to make full use of him and order him around as she pleased. Zenos was taken aback for a moment. No one in his entire life dared to make him do a servant's work, worse even command him to do something. They would be beheaded for such a crime. It was always and only he who decided things for others.
But it was okay, he would go along with her whims. For now that is.
