"You cross paths with a lot of people in life,

But who stays with you?"

F.A.B.

But I gained my footing and caught her right in time before she fell.

That, was a close call. She's kind of a bit shorter than me, but still, I held her in place. I was getting drenched by the rain, that didn't matter, what mattered was that she's safe.

I took her bags and walked back to the shed where some people were commending me saying I'm a well trained girl.

Of course I am,

I'm spoilt but not completely mannerless.

She joined me and thanked me for saving her, I just smiled and nodded, I should have said it meant nothing, but my whole outfit is wet, so also my hair, I just hope my phone survived.

About twenty minutes later, the rain stopped and I grabbed my bag of foodstuffs and left not even taking a look at the woman. I've got only one thing on my mind, food. I'm so hungry right now. I got to the junction and I'm sure I really really look like heavy rain right now as my clothes are drenched, only because I had to save a woman from falling.

Honk...honk...honk.

I turned around to see a jet-black Toyota Camry and it's occupant's hand motioning for me to come, and I did, I carefully walked to the drivers window and I saw the woman I helped back in the market.

"Hop in, let me give you a ride" she looks...albino-like, I've never met anyone like her before. Instead of arguing, I nodded and got into the passenger seat, setting my bag in between my legs. She turned on the heater and let music play softly in the background...I need food right now, I'm so hungry.

Grrrr...

My tommy rumbled and I just clutched it tight while staring at my reflection in the side mirror, my hair that was tied up fell loosely around my face, I'd have looked like a damp mop, but I'm not white, I'm black, so, I look like a damp wool.

"Here, take this." I heard and turned my head to see her handling me a plate of, I think...rice?

"Uhh...no, thank you ma'am"

"Ma'am? What are you, British?" I believe I'm Nigerian. "C'mon, eat this, it's from a fine restaurant, you'd love it, and I could tell your tommy is giving you trouble, eat eat."

What do I do now?

"Okay, thank you"

I hope this journey comes to an end soon enough so I can leave here. She drove out of the market and into the road, we moved a little distance and I opened the food, gosh I'm so hungry, it smelled nice, I hope it tastes nice too. I took a spoon of it and looked ahead of me, then I saw it... traffic congestion, this is bad.

Great, just great.

I ate in silence while waiting for the traffic to ease, being here with her makes me remember it in a bad way, in a way stronger than ever, it makes me even sadder even with this delicious plate of rice on my laps...I don't like this feeling one bit.

"You seem to be a student, where do you stay?" She asked me.

"Uh...Enitan Estate" I responded

"Really?"

"Yes, number 26"

"...wow, the students hostel?"

"Yes, that's the one"

"That place is huge though."

"Mmmnnnn...."

Is she trying to start a conversation?

"What are you studying?"

"Fine arts"

"That's impressive, do you have any works?"

"Yes...dozens actually, I spend most of my free time reading or painting." Whoah, whoah, whoah, I've never told anyone that...no one has ever asked me that.

The traffic eased and the journey continued, she drove onto the road to my hostel and I was shocked,

"Are you driving me to my hostel?" I asked

"Just watch and see" she answered, well, I've got no problem with that so far she's not going to kidnap me.

"Thank you for breaking my fall back there"

"I just did what was right"

"Keep doing that dear"

I smiled...I actually smiled not a toothy smile, but a close mouthed smile that radiated a glow...the smile was genuine .

"I don't live too far from you, so if you need anything...including foodstuffs, I'm available"

She stated as we edged closer to my hostel.

"But where do you stay?"

"Right across the street."
