1 Prologue: Before the crash

The icy wind on the battlements felt like thousands of needles cutting through his flesh, making the clothes and armour he was wearing completely useless. Even though the sun reflected directly from his breastplate, Rurric's body was shivering under the freezing temperatures of the mountains.

"Damned the day I decided to become a soldier!" His curse was blown away in another gust of wind.

A mountain range divided the planet into north and south serving as a natural wall that protects from invaders of either side. There was only one known way to cross the mountains and that would be through a passage in the north of Moralud kingdom. Smugglers and merchants tried to find other paths to avoid the taxes or the authorities but without success. Knowing the importance of the passage the Camjour fortress was built on which walls Rurric was standing right now.

His shift was coming to an end and so did the sun on the horizon of the Northern Plains. The darkness started to slowly swallow the sun's rays robbing him from the only thing that warmed him. Soon, half of the sun already went down, signalizing that the freezing night is coming nearer.

"Sigh... finally my shift is going to end, this fucking cold is going to kill me sooner or later. I became a soldier to earn honour and glory on the battlefield, not to freeze to death." There was no one nearby who could listen to his complaints.

But the sun didn't disappear behind the horizon as it should have instead, a gigantic black sphere started to cover the remaining sun. The sphere became bigger and bigger as it gradually came towards the fortress. Sunrays illuminated the sky in a dark red as birds were seemingly running away from the incoming anomaly. With widened eyes, he and other guards on the battlements stood still observing the scenery in front of them. One of them fell on his knees and began to pray. The stable boy tried in vain to calm down the horses that were wildly neighing and kicking their hooves around.

"Wh... what is happening, what is going on!"

His question remained unanswered since everyone was staring at the events happening before them. Rurric has lost all interest in the stinging cold and wind that pulled on his coat. The sphere, which had now taken over the entire horizon, crashed into the Northern Plains causing a huge tremor that shook the entire planet. Walls collapsed and people were buried under rubble as they tried to flee in panic. Screams and cries echoed through the darkness while the orb gradually came closer to the fortress. The plains offered no halt to the destruction and advancement of the orb. Landmasses formed completely new mountains or were thrown into nothingness.

"Ha, in face of death even your gods become useless so you flee!"

"Fuck you Rurric this has nothing to do with god's anymore." One of the praying guardsmen ran past him.

When he turned his look back to the sphere a huge precipice with no end in sight, gaped between him and what seemed to be another planet. As he took a closer look at the mountains on the other side of the abyss he thought to see another fortress but a sudden tremor diverted his view towards the red sky. The mountains rushed past him faster than a bolt from a crossbow, he stretched his arms as he tried to grab any object he could, in vain.

"I didn't want to fucking die from falling down a cliff!" his scream was blown away by the passing wind, as he closed his eyes and surrendered to his fate.
