13 W1.A1-13: Can’t Endanger My Son

"Mom, this… this is too much!"

My exclamation could be heard from within my mother's room.

At the moment, I was sitting on her bed while looking at a bunch of clothes she had prepared for me.

It would have been fine if there were one or two there, but here I was looking at ten outfits! I didn't even own that many, even though I lived in the capital.

Although it had something to do with my disinterest in such things, it was still too much.

"What do you know?" My mother scoffed. "How are you going to impress a girl with these rags that you have on?"

"R- Rags?" I stuttered before lowering my head to examine my clothes. Although a bit dull, they looked perfect otherwise. "Mom…"

"I don't want to hear another word!" Her response shut me up immediately. I could only nod and accept the clothes.

"But you didn't have to make them using such good fabric." I still muttered. "They must have cost a lot."

"That's not something for you to worry about." Hands crossed over her chest, she looked at me sternly. Pointing towards her open bath inside the garden, she then said, "Go take a bath before putting on a new pair for me to see."

"Why are you treating me like a child?"

"Huh?" She gave me a look. "What did you say?"

"I'm going in!"

I hurriedly entered the bath before my mother blew up further.

Sigh!

Celine sighed as she looked at her son entering the garden.

"This kid's really a hassle," she muttered. Looking at the new outfits that were scattered on the bed, she showed a satisfied smile. "Now I don't have to worry about him not finding a girlfriend."

Knock! Knock!

Just as she was busy with her happy thoughts, a gentle knock on the door interrupted her contemplation.

"Come in."

The door was pushed open as Yena entered. Celine was about to speak when she noticed that Yena's expression was a bit tensed.

Having a bad feeling, she hurriedly asked, "What is it, Yena?"

"Madam…" Yena looked at Celine before handing her a note.

Celine frowned as she took the note from her. But when she read what was written on it, her expression turned furious as she spoke through gritted teeth, "That rat bastard!"

Then she hurriedly stopped her outburst before looking in the direction of the bath. Gesturing to Yena, she led her outside the room.

"What should we do, Madam?" Yena asked with a worried expression. She was well aware of the problem they were dealing with at the moment, and it made her extremely concerned about their future.

Celine shook her head before letting out a sigh. "It looks like I'll have to settle it as soon as possible."

"Madam, should we…" Yena hesitated for a moment before finally stating her view: "Should we tell the young master?" She hurriedly added her reason: "He works in the army, so maybe he can…"

"No!" But Celine refused flatly. "He's only a scout," she explained. "His position will not work here; instead, those people might even trouble him in the long run." She shook her head and said in a decisive tone, "I can't endanger my son's career for this."

"And what are you worried about?" She then changed her tone as she spoke with a snort, saying, "Hmph! Do those bastards think of me as someone they can push around as they wish?" Clenching her fists, she said, "If not for being worried about my son, I would have never given in to their demands."

"But not anymore," she said with a resolute expression. "Daniel has already established himself in the capital, so I don't have to worry about him anymore."

"Then, Madam, you…?"

"Don't worry, I'll deal with them tonight." Celine spoke with certainty.

"Tonight?" Yena exclaimed before she suddenly remembered something and asked, "Are you perhaps thinking about attending the party that landlord Vilet mentioned?" Her expression was one of worry, as she clearly didn't consider it the best decision.

"Yes." Celine nodded before looking at Yena. "Don't worry. I know how to handle that bunch of greedy rats."

Yena, although worried, could only nod.

"Alright." Celine then said, "Yena, go to my room and prepare a dress for me to wear to the party." She turned back towards her room and muttered, "I'll try to make him sleep early."

...

As I came out of the bath, I saw my mother sitting on the bed with her head resting on the headboard.

She had already changed into her sleeping clothes, a black nightgown with a silky texture. It had a dark luster that highlighted my mother's fair skin, creating a charming contrast.

She had already heard me enter, so she looked at me before her eyes lit up.

"So handsome!" She praised.

I turned a bit embarrassed at the comment, but I also felt happy as I couldn't help but say, "It's been so long since someone praised me like that." Thinking for a moment, I added, "I think it was also you who last praised me like that."

"Are the girls from the capital blind or something?" My mother let out an exaggerated exclamation. But then her tone changed as she said in a helpless voice, "I guess it's not really their fault; after all, it's my boy who used to dress like a kid."

"Urk! Mom, my dressing sense was not that bad." I reported softly, not expecting my sentence to make a difference.

"Yeah, right." She rolled her eyes. She then pointed at the bag she had put the clothes in and said, "Take these to your room."

I nodded, but then I hesitated as I wanted to ask something.

My mother seemed to see through my thoughts as she smirked. "Go sleep; I'm coming right behind you."

I nodded again, this time with a happy smile.

...

I came to my room and placed my bag on the table.

Changing back into some loose clothes, I lied down on the bed.

While I was waiting for my mother to come, I suddenly remembered something as I looked at the bracelet on my wrist.

"I wonder when they're going to come here." I muttered to myself before smiling. "But that's also good, as I'll be able to stay another day if no call comes through tomorrow.

As I was thinking, the door to my room was pushed open as my mother walked in.

She didn't say anything to me and just started to walk towards the switchboard.

The lights in the town were not like the array driven sources in the capital. Here, most people still use oil lamps and candles. Thankfully, my family was affluent enough to have some of those "rare" array lamps that were found everywhere in the capital.

Turning off the lamp, she came to the bed and lied beside me. Dragging my head over to her soft bosom, she spoke softly, "Let's sleep."

But I was not feeling sleepy at all. I wanted to talk to my mother about many things, but then I thought that maybe she was tired from the walk we took in the afternoon.

Although she had also eaten the energizing meal made out of the bull meat, mental exhaustion was still something that required sleep to cure.

So I decided not to disturb her. But I couldn't help but add a sentence.

"Mom, it's possible that I might also stay tomorrow."

"Really?" My mother, who I thought was feeling sleepy, suddenly let out a surprised shout as she tightened her hold on me.

If it had been me from five years ago, I would have surely been suffocated by her. Fortunately, I was strong enough to survive.

But still, her strengthened hold did bring my face closer to the valley between her peaks. A fragrant aroma entered my nose, while the softness I was feeling only enhanced the pleasure.

"Soft…" I had let out a sigh of comfort before I even realized it.

"Aren't they?" And as I had expected, she heard me. She then added, "Well, today I'm not wearing anything inside, so they might be—"

"You don't have to tell me that!" My muffled shout came from within her bosom. "That's so awkward."

My mother chuckled. "Says the guy who can't get enough of his mother's breasts."

"Hmph!" I snorted as I defended myself. "That's your fault for always telling horror stories to make me sleep early." I complained in a whiny tone, "I almost developed a trauma, you know?"

"Hahaha…" My mother started laughing hard, and I could feel the reverberations through her chest.

"You used to be such a scaredy-cat." She continued giggling before rubbing my hair. "You used to act like you had come to accompany me; it was so cute when you acted like that." Her tone turned loving as she spoke softly. "I felt really happy when I used to see you feeling safe in my presence."

I listened to her while feeling a little speechless. "It was like creating a demand that only you can fulfill." I sighed. "You really are a good businesswoman, Mom."

Hearing my analysis, my mother giggled. "Alright, sleep now."

"Good night," I said while closing my eyes.

"Sweet dreams, dear."
