Chapter 21 - Realization

As time went on, continued his meditation, luan's inner thoughts were becoming more complex. His thoughts were stable and solid compared to before. He was already above average in intelligence from the beginning but this state of mind helped his understanding tremendously.

Slowly he even stopped talking to the system and decided he would not think too much in the time.

Of course it was very difficult. He was a social person so not talking with anyone for week was something that would surely make him insane.

In the end, he wasn't able to express the urge to talk with system. The talk was always a light one. System will pass knowledge onto him. It would sometimes tell luan it's many new functions.

One of its many functions was to store luan's memories. It was a passive ability, which meant it would never stop as long as luan is alive.

Being in isolation for so long meant he would surely forget many things, so to avoid such problem system made a copy of his memories and preserved it.

「These memories will be given to individual after exiting the world and in critical need of them.」

Day 479

"It's been so long since I've met anyone. Was coming here really that important?"

His eyebrows furrowed down in regret.

"Tell me how much progress is done so far."

Ding

「53.92%...」

"There is still half of the core left. It's a little faster than I thought. I wonder if it's speed is increasing." He said. "Tell me the speed at which the core is forming."

Ding

「At the beginning, the average speed was 2.3% per month, now it has been increased to 3.4% per month.」

He didn't react to the answer too much. He was already quite expecting something like this to happen.

"I see."

After some thinking, Luan understood he had immense talent in cultivation. Killing a beast minor realm above him and learning things quickly was an example of that.

"I feel so lonely right now. I haven't visited the outer world even once. Its probably been somewhere around 11 days there."

Then a realization hit him in the stomach.

"And this is just a single core, it would take too much time making new ones." He sighed a little.

"I wish I could play games like before."

In the cave of the outer world, Angela was also waiting for luan. Her discomfort for the Ice element at the beginning was slowly going away as she was getting used to the temperature.

A lot of things were also going on in her mind as well.

'Hmmm, I... Want to eat noodles." Her stomach growled as if agreeing with the same.

They had brought food with them but it wasn't the same as they had ate in the Suishan city. It was monsters' meat and didn't taste that good. Although Angela ate it, she just didn't feel the same as she felt while eating the noodles.

As said before, cultivator doesn't need to eat anything for a set amount of time to stay in health, but it doesn't mean they won't feel hunger or the need to eat like a normal person.

Its just like a normal person. One could stay alive for somewhere around 2 weeks without food or water but nobody pushes it that far. The same concept applies here.

"I remember...their sweet scent... and taste." A small droll came out of her mouth as she said that but she quickly wiped it away.

"Ahem, I got carried away!"

Angela started meditating again with full concentration! But her mind couldn't ignore the delicious food she just remembered.

"Wow! You solved all the questions correctly today as well!" a random girl from A class said to Eloise.

"Yeah, it wasn't too difficult you see. But I'm not as good at cultivation as you " She said while a drop of sweat appeared on her cheek.

"Studying" in the cultivation world was learning about the different techniques and pass knowledge on the students about the world. And to break through to the higher realm.

"Yeaaaa~ I wish I was as smart as you~" The girl said as they went outside the classroom.

"Anyway, teach me that later, I'm going home now." The girl said and went opposite way.

"Haaaa, with how tough the classes are, I'm sure I'll have to wear glasses soon" The thought made Eloise shutter a little.

"But what can I do, the studies are important." She rubbed her eye sockets and went down the newly made stairs and onto the ground.

"Hey! What happened to you?" A clear voice asked her from a few meters behind.

Eloise looked behind and saw who he was.

"Oh, hey Alden what made you saw that?" She asked while closed eyes in a fake smile.

"Well you're looking weird today. As if your health is dropping day by day." He started walking besides her. She didn't move away and looked down.

"So you noticed." Eloise told him everything about the studies and how it's taking a troll on her mentality.

He thought for a moment about her situation.

"Then why don't you decrease your burden? Just work less, it's not like we're obligated to do studies." He continued. "Heck even I don't study much, I'm fine with being a C student." He said looking into her eyes as if it was the simplest answer to her situation.

Eloise looked at him with her green eyes in a dumbfounded expression.

"No no you don't understand this. If I don't do this, I'll be a shame to my family." She said shaking her head.

"Family huh?" He just looked down and continued walking.

"They only look out for you. They are in the right for considering about your future" He said in a little angry tone not maintaining eye contact.

"Wow, what happened to you all of a sudden?"

Realizing what he had said he Alden quickly composed himself.

"I'm sorry I lost myself there!" He said while giving a 90° bow.

"Don't worry, I'm not angry."

Alden relaxed after hearing that.

"On another thought, I actually like the studying but cultivating is extremely hard." Eloise said.

"I guess thats true. The meditation sessions are difficult." He agreed with her.

"Oh there's my house." She said and turned to Alden.

"Well see you tomorrow, Alden." She waved her hand and he did the same.

"Yeah see you."
