Chapter 44

(WARNING: I've kind of been giving a lot away lately... I apologize for this, but I feel I must take some time to explain things that may make you uncomfortable. I'm a newbie Author growing up, continually cultivating myself under the weight of the constant flow of time-space. XD. I only ask for understanding and patience, because I'm giving my best to create this story. My first story with so much time invested and chapters posted. Anyway, please take some time to read the "Author's Notes" at the end, I'd really appreciate it. Enjoy the chapter ^^).

(ULTRA WARNING: If there is any problem with the "Pronouns of Therazane or Freya (both are women) Please point it out to me (if you can, this is not mandatory, but I would really appreciate it ^^) and I will correct them tomorrow. For me it's already too late.

(POV Protagonist)

I soared rapidly in the sky fighting against Al'Akir's constant attacks to bring me back to earth. I climbed and climbed without stopping at any moment to continuously increase my speed.

-Using my abilities to take control of the great storm that Al'Akir and Neptulon started is not easy. Much of Al'Akir's will is controlling this storm, which is precisely why I must take control quickly.

*BOOM*X7

I increased my speed so much that I managed to exceed 7 times the speed of sound. So I was in Match 7.

-I am using all my strength and control over the elements despite Al'Akir's attempt to stop me. My current body is not very aerodynamic, but it is enough to accomplish what I desire.

In a few seconds I had circled around the entire area of the storm 15 times, taking control of its external parts and gradually integrating it all into my body. So now I was surrounded by a large amount of electric clouds that expanded along with my will.

-It is not easy to explain how it is possible that my body can do this, because I am not really sure how, even so, my best example are the bodies of the air elementals, who are continuously in a gaseous state. But this begs a question for me, how do they do it...? *Pfft*, be serious. *cough*. I have a theory that perhaps the elementals are a corporeal representation of the elemental's will. This means that while they are alive they may not possess "Core", but that it would be generated upon death. This in fact explains the agonizing movement that all elementals make before dying, seeming to implode (from the outside in) for a moment. It is probably the will and the element generating its elemental "Core" and absorbing everything into it. Probably this means that if left alone, the slain elemental can revive... perhaps. Still, this is just a theory, as I have not tried to test it on any elemental. I have preferred to spend my time on other things that I consider more important....

It took me a while, but soon my body was totally the huge storm that encompassed the entire sky.

-Al'Akir and Neptulon prepared a lot for this attack... Anyway, the point is that I can have a physical yet gaseous body simply by integrating my "will" to the "material" or in this case, to the storm, rather, to the air itself and by doing so I have taken away Al'Akir's control over all this elemental energy. I could also call it a spell, but since I profit from this attack, I prefer to call it by its value to me. In short, something that regenerates my "mana".

With everything ready, little by little a huge whirlpool began to form in the area where Ragnaros was. Shortening little by little its diameter. What was a little more difficult was to avoid causing harm to Tyr and Odyn.

-I have to get better at controlling less dense bodies....

Soon Ragnaros was completely enveloped in the eye of the tornado. The same one that acted as a cell and prevented Ragnaros from being able to attack.

-As much as I would like to usurp control over Ragnaros' body and imprison him in it while I and the "Guardians" take care of the rest of the "Elemental Lords", it is not that easy. However, I don't want to do that, as I would be forced to have to fight against all his will, and since I have no intention of eradicating him from the face of existence, then I must hold on while the rest take care of the other "Elemental Lords", effectively cutting off my participation in the rest of the fight... I don't want that. So hurting him that badly by hitting him very, very hard is the best way to end this without me needing to bear the full brunt of the fight.

*Sigh*

-Besides, I get very tired fighting against such strong wills for such a long time. I just hope I can get some sleep soon.

(POV Tyr, "Guardian")

Although everyone thought our ally had fled, I held out hope and we soon got an answer.

*BOOM* X7

A huge explosion sounded in the sky, pushing some clouds away. Then little by little the sky began to change and we quickly watched as a huge whirlpool formed and rapidly descended towards us. Although it apparently passed us by, surrounding Ragnaros as it spun faster and faster.

Soon a huge white light came swiftly down from the sky.

*BOOM*X25

The explosion caused by the abrupt decrease in light was enormous, but soon the tornado changed and began to disappear, showing little by little the figure of our ally absorbing the great storm, giving way to a sky cleared of darkness through which the sunlight shone.

"AAARGH"

"It's a shame we had to end this quickly Ragnaros. But it's time to change this world."

Our new ally was on top of Ragnaros' body, with his great sword stuck in his chest. While little by little the little power that was left to the Elemental Lord began to go down even more. Until it stopped when there was hardly anything left.

"Can they seal it somehow?"

our ally asked.

"Sure."

-That was a good attack.

It didn't take much effort to seal Ragnaros' power, effectively putting him out of action.

...

With time and thanks to the storm had disappeared, the fight against the other Elemental Lords became easier, taking advantage of the fact that Al'Akir had stopped attacking constantly in the middle of the battle. Although our new ally did not miss to fly fast and brilliantly in every paddle, joining every battle to weaken one by one the Elemental Lords.

It wasn't long before the fight was over and all the enemies were defeated. And without their leaders, the rest of the lesser elementals fled, effectively giving us the victory.

*Sigh*

"Tough fight, I hear you buddy."

Our strange ally said to me, with what I am now sure is a smile.

"That's right. But I am glad that all ended well. Though the fight was hard and our enemy implacable, we still count on victory to free this world from the terrible darkness that threatens it."

"I agree with you Tyr. This world deserves peace, this world deserves to be free of this ravaging corruption. And I will do everything I can to achieve it. Not only for this world, but also for my happiness."

With a big smile. With longing and hope in his voice, our ally, whose time had come to speak, spoke.

Soon we all gathered together, as we had to decide what to do with the defeated enemies.

The first to speak was Ra.

"We must do something to prevent our enemies from returning. Killing them is not an option as far as I know. I spoke with our Gods and they told me that these elemental enemies are deeply bound to this world. Killing them will only stop them for the time being, but they will return with new strength to take revenge. So we must find a way to seal them away for good so that they do not cause any more chaos in this world."

With Ra's words, everyone went deep in thought, including me. I couldn't think of a way to accomplish this, though.

-Perhaps ask our Gods for advice. Their guidance will surely shed light on the matter.

But before saying anything, listen to our new ally speak.

"Mmm, if you'll indulge me for a moment I may have a solution to this problem."

He said raising his hand.

-...

"... (All)"

"*cough*, since you say nothing I'll take your silence as a confirmation. So it's time to deny it if you have something else in mind..."

Staring at her wrist I waited for a while. And then spoke before he could say or do anything else.

"Please friend, tell us your solution."

"*Sigh*. They should seal them in an isolated elemental plane, bound to this world."

-Sounds good. I guess the others would agree as well. But I find it a bit odd that he was able to solve this problem so easily and in such a... unique way... I can't sense arcane energy in his being. I just don't understand how he conceived the idea.

Everyone looked at him as he simply smiled and then held up his hand and thumb. Strangely one of his teeth momentarily gleamed.

-...

"Sounds like a good idea to me, thanks for your suggestion stranger ally..."

Ra said.

"No problem buddy, no problem."

Then Ra thought a bit and spoke.

"Since it's your idea, do you have any suggestions on what this elemental plane should look like?"

After deep thought our ally said.

"If they could break it down into its respective elements and interconnect them it would be best. "

"I understand."

Ra said and after thinking some more, he called Helya.

"Helya, please help me with this."

"With pleasure."

-Helya is our most talented Sorceress. Her power has helped our brothers a lot in this war.

"Would you please give me a moment to purge the darkness that enslaves the Elemental Lords and a few words to Therazane, the Elemental Mistress of the earth?"

A momentary silence and then Ra nodded.

"Thank you."

He said and then walked away to carry out his objective.

When he was gone, Ra asked.

"Do you think he's really reliable?"

Odyn was the first to speak.

"I believe he is a brave warrior who has proven to be helpful to this battle. I very much doubt his goals, though."

Then Archaedas.

"He doesn't strike me as a bad being."

Freya.

"He is a being who possesses much hatred and pain. Although his light is pure, the darkness he possesses is also pure."

With his words we all thought even more deeply. And this time I said.

"Although it is true, I can see that his light shines brightly. He has kept his words and helped us out of his own motivation. Even when the world is plunged in darkness he is the only one who has bravely been willing to help us expel her from this world. I think we should give him a chance to speak to us and explain who and what he is..."

Then Freya spoke.

"I agree with you Tyr. I think we should at least give him a chance to defend himself."

"I think he's someone useful for this war."

Odyn said.

And then Hodir said.

"He helped us at the time, I think he's earned the opportunity."

No one else said anything, so I just said.

"His actions are worth more than words. Let us allow him to speak and observe whether he is worthy of our trust."

With no one else for or against, we just watched the actions of our new ally.

(POV Protagonist)

-I know they doubt me. I can feel it. Each and every one of their feelings I can feel.

*Sigh*

-It is hard to be judged or feared. Although I understand why they are hesitant. They must command an army. The lives of millions of their brothers depend on their decisions. They are still young, but I am sure that every death weighs heavy on their hearts... it would be unfair of them not to fear the unknown stranger who suddenly appears with good intentions.

*SIGH*

-It doesn't matter. I just have to complete these missions. I just have to wait a little longer, just a little longer and I can look for her.

Giving me encouragement and high hopes, my steps did not falter. The first to approach me was Ragnaros.

"Lord of Fire..."

"Traitor!"

-I can feel their hatred and pain. *Sigh*

"I can only say, I never appreciated you belittling me. Yet to the end, I have always respected your power... And as the help you showed me in my time of need, I will help you, purifying you from this darkness that enslaves you..."

I quickly absorbed all the dark evil that haunted his mind and being. Enslaving him and bending him to the will of the "Old Gods". Then I briefly took his weapon.

-Now that I think about it. This weapon looks like Sulfuras...

I thought as I held the weapon Ragnaros had been using.

-Maybe that's why it's also called "The extinct hand" in some searches... This is just a replacement of the original.

"Even if you have done this, it changes nothing. You are a Traitor and always will be. The darkness you possess will never leave you. You will always be the cause for doubt. ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!"

Just look at the weakened and sealed state of Ragnaros "The Eternal Flame".

*Sigh*

I said nothing and headed towards Al'Akir. As soon as I arrived I said to him.

"I'll just tell you one thing. I was sincere with the deal, although I admit my own arrogance in trying. But it's all right, in the end."

I said as I looked into his lightning eyes.

"No matter the plans if you don't have the strength. I hope this is etched on you for all eternity Al'Akir."

"..."

He just looked at me and said nothing. To which I just smiled.

"But, I can't deny that of all the things I expected you to do, what really happened was that you called Ragnaros... You put me in quite a predicament... Al'Akir, you are definitely worthy of being the smartest and most cunning of all you "Elemental Lords". But I also know how to pay my debts and I owe you a big one for helping me, so I will release you from the darkness..."

I was quick and his being was free.

"Though you must know that my respect for your power and intelligence is true. I hope that someday you will come to understand, if the storm in your head passes and you manage to see, what lies beyond."

Without another word, I walked away. Next up, Neptulon.

"*sigh*"

"Traitor, have you come to boast of your victory, stay away then. I don't want to hear the waves of your voice."

"... First of all, don't win alone. Secondly, that sounded corny, yet oddly very consistent with your elementary theme..."

"... What?"

"Third, I came here to help you free yourself from this darkness that enslaves you. I do not forget Lord of the Water. But I know when to pay my debts... Like the waves, everything must fall into place at some point."

Quickly release it.

-Another one less in the corrupt hands of darkness.

"So you're here to feel sorry for me, that's even worse. Just leave quickly, Traitor."

"I just want to thank you for being the first to give me your blessing. To say something regarding that I respect your power and that... I generally like you, but I don't enjoy the teasing and just as I tell you, I don't forget... Anyway, enjoy your last moments in these waters, because soon the tide will take you away... Pffft, hahaha."

I withdrew while laughing, although I was even more amused by the look on Neptulon's face as soon as he understood what I said.

*SIGH*

-Now only Therazane remains....

I approached the Mother Stone. And I saw only her eyes. Even when her mind was in slavery to the shadows, I could see the rays of curiosity and maternal love deep inside...

"*Sigh."

I quickly freed her from all the evil that subdued her.

"..."

"..."

I didn't know exactly what to say, but I continued to look into her eyes until I felt uncomfortable and proceeded to observe her appearance.

-She still maintains the appearance I gave her. This only makes the feeling worse... Therazane is the only one I really had no choice but to betray. I... I regret doing it. Even though she's not really my mother, she's the closest thing I have to one in this world...

"Mother Pétrea, I... I want to apologize to you. *sigh*. I don't have words to express all that I feel, but, I really wish from the bottom of my heart that you can forgive me someday... I just hope you can do it."

I said as I slowly lowered my gaze.

-It is not easy to make mistakes and admit everything you did wrong to the only being who gave you any kind of love and comfort. The only one who listened to you and understood your motivations. The only being who supported you at all times, even when doubts loomed in her, taking that one step of faith... although it was all for a greater reason, it doesn't change the fact that it was me who received her trust....

"I have no words really to apologize."

I said as I again looked into her bright, crystal clear eyes.

"After so much time alone, I have realized that my fear of losing future happiness led me to commit a great stupidity... Although I really want to believe that what I did was right, that it was for a better tomorrow... The truth is that I am not sure what to do... I, I don't know and maybe I will never know how I should really do it..."

I felt a few drops trickle down from my eyes. The sadness I felt for so many things was just....

-I am very foolish. To cry before the one I treat as my enemy, before the one I brutally beat in order to end all this quickly. Just to speed up even one day my waiting time... My hope and my goals have made me very selfish. Beyond what I have really wanted...

With my head down I just allowed the drops to slowly trickle down my cheeks.

"Sometimes I feel I cannot go on, "Mother Pétrea" ... But I have done so much that I also fear that, if I do not continue, I have done nothing worthy ... nothing beyond betraying those who at one time were my allies..."

*Plic

*Plic

"The name Traitor is one I will bear silently to the end. Though it is one that brings me great agony, simply because it was you that I hurt the most..."

And murmuring softly I said.

"The only thing I've ever really seen as my family."

*Plic

*Plic

*Plic

*Breathe

*Exhale

-No matter what, I must still go on. I must go through my pain. So I'll just cry and leave quickly, there's no use saying more. Not to her. *SIGH* I just have to go away for a while. I'm sure the others will understand me.

Raising my gaze, I said, looking her in the eyes again.

"It doesn't matter if you never forgive me. In the end, I don't think I can forgive myself. Time shows many things and changes everything. I will make true what I promised you "Mother Pétrea". I will protect this world with all my being. I will remove all this corruption, all this pain and darkness from the world. That was and still is a promise."

With the best smile I could do at the time and a few tears in my eyes, I told her bravely. Never taking my eyes off hers. My sincerity would not allow me to do otherwise.

As soon as I was about to leave, Therazane said something to me.

"I forgive you."

So I fell to my knees and turned my back to him. I cried silently, I cried as I had never cried before, and perhaps, some cries could have been heard, but the truth is that I could not stand the pain, the sadness and the tiredness anymore. So, with no more strength, I simply fainted.

Author's Note: ... I don't have many words to define this chapter, but I can admit that it is one of the ones that touched me the most when I was writing it. I thank you for your support, your comments and all your help. If it wasn't for you I doubt I would have continued writing. Possibly I would have given up after a few days. That's what I think... So much of this work is also carried by you. Thank you :,)

*Sigh*

Now I have some things that I want to explain to you because they seem to be a cause for concern. I am taking this story slowly for several reasons. The most important one is that I don't want to make a mistake, but that doesn't mean that I don't try to get more chapters out every day when I have time. I have been busy for various reasons.

Another reason to take this slowly is to analyze everything I will do and give it a "why". I want everything to at least have a logical explanation.

One concern seems to be the Harem issue. I don't plan on making it 1000 women, even though the Dragons in WOW as many in the comments have mentioned, are "Polygamous". They are dragons, it makes sense. According to many mythologies they can be seen as a being of sins, greed, avarice, covetousness, lust, among others. This explains why dragons tend to be rather "sinful" or go into an "evil" aspect of some sort.

Mmm, other concerns would be that I plan to follow the Canon. Let me explain. WOW is a complex and simple universe. As much as it may seem like that doesn't make sense, it doesn't... it does. It's simple because Blizzard literally says things in your face, it's just a matter of you realizing and understanding what's going on and what they refer to. It's complex because WOW is not only long, with many stories. But there are also parallel timelines that make this universe even bigger, or should I call it "reality". So, following the canon while moving forward is not a bad idea. You just have to understand a few things, like, for example. If you were in the MC's situation, would you really change the history of Azeroth, let me tell you, if your answer is "YES", then you don't understand this "reality" one bit. Here, there is no absolute "right" or "wrong".

It is a real world, because everything is done for profit and interests. The major players at the table are: "The light, the dark, the titans, the gods" ... Those 4 mark "a compass" in the whole WOW universe. Even though WOW has declined lately, it's simply because people don't really understand what's going on. The true "FANS" among which I don't count myself, because I still don't know much more, are loyal to this game. Partly out of affection and partly because they understand the real complexity of this universe. Where everything is gray... almost literally.

If your answer to the question was "NO" or at least "NOT IN PART", then you understand one thing. Having knowledge of what will happen, means being able to anticipate. If you get it right you "survive" if you get it wrong... lucky. Power is important in "all" worlds and realities, just like ours, "The True Reality". So, does this mean I will stick 100% and faithfully to canon. The answer is NO. Why, I cannot. I think it has been shown that the presence of the MC did have consequences in the world and did make changes... I don't have to say it explicitly to get the facts straight. For those who don't know anything about WOW I always try to make the protagonist emphasize the fact that he didn't expect this change or that such a thing would happen. These are little yarns that I leave, easy to grasp so that we can all understand and have fun throughout the story.

(By the way, if you're reading this and you think I'm angry, then you should know that I'm not. I just want to emphasize the answers, it's something to do with us paying attention to what catches our attention visually and stuff XD).

Well, with all that said, I want you to know one thing. The MC can't take on the legion by himself. Yes he can, in deeds, but he won't get the victory... Demons are beings that corrupt through addiction to power. A little different from corruption through the madness of the "void" and corruption through the domination of the "Undead". I think it is easy to understand then that, the most difficult thing at the moment of truth, is to face oneself. To give you an example. Think of an addiction you have. Then think that you have at your disposal, I don't know, "your box of cigarettes if you are addicted to smoking or the box of beer if you are addicted to drinking" and that suddenly you feel like smoking or drinking... at that moment deny it to yourself with the beer or the cigarette at hand... it is simply very difficult, many do not manage to resist. Well, this is the "Fel" magic or "Vil" magic of the demons. Why do I say this, because if you have been watching MC you will notice some things... anyway...

Don't think that just because the MC doesn't want to change the canon means that everything will be the same. It's impossible, partly because I don't have all the knowledge of WOW and I have to constantly read and search for information. Partly because sometimes there is simply no information on what I am looking for and partly because my interpretation of what I read is what defines what I am writing... I can't be 100% faithful because I am not the creator, but I can get very close. So please keep in mind that this is NOT 100% WOW, neither would it be because in WOW there is no such thing as my MC... you know what I mean?... I hope so.

My recommendation is that you read this because you really like it, to have a good time, either reading or because you want to tell me something, some idea, some advice, some criticism. I read and reply as much as I can... some comments get deleted and I can't find them (this happens a lot with paragraph comments), others simply use the wrong word and are automatically deleted by the page (it happens a lot). I don't shy away from responding to you and I really enjoy communicating with you. I say it whenever I can, because it's simply part of what I consider the "author's magic".

You are in some ways "magical" as much as anyone else. A negative comment can momentarily discourage me. A positive comment can greatly encourage me. Criticism makes me try harder. Funny comments make my day, pictures make me happy and appreciate the effort they put into posting them, which means they like what they read enough to take the time. And the "guide" comments on how to improve my writing... ufff, those really make me think a lot XD. It's not easy to speak Spanish and then switch to English and not have things that confuse me. But the point is that, whatever you decide to do, I accept it and if I think I can help, I kindly ask you for an explanation, and then I will give it to you, as long as you allow it. Anyway, it's nothing too complex. This fanfic is something I enjoy doing and I will continue doing it simply because many others enjoy this work as much as I do.

As you can't miss it: Destroying is commonplace, guiding is truly extraordinary.

As a farewell I'll just say. Thanks for taking your time to read all this... it's 4581 words (in Spanish, in English maybe more or less... I'm not sure XD). I want to believe that, if you made it this far, it's because you really enjoy this XD. Anyway, I wish you a good night or a great day ^^
