Ch. 19

In a classroom, 28 students consisting of only girls were waiting for their teacher to arrive. They were chattering and chatting amongst themselves as they waited, but Sheila was trying to catch up with the material that they were studying. She wasn't exactly paying attention to their conversation, but she did overhear them talking about a few things.

"H-hey Sheila.. Could I ask you something? " Flo said while whispering.

"Hmmm? What is it? "

" I'm I that smelly? "

Sheila raised an eyebrow at Flo question, looking confused but not sure if she should say anything.

"Uhh…" sheila hesitated to answer it.

"I mean, you're not exactly smelly?"

"But like you smell… maybe like a lily flower.. I mean…"

"How to say it... "

After hearing Sheila remarks, flo couldn't help to overly conscious about her body smell. With indifferent faces, she trying to sniff her armpit and found out there's nothing wrong with it.

After thingking a while, she realizes there's no way she could know her own scents with her own nose, so she keep trying to ask Sheila who was the most honest girl she know. "Is it that bad? "

"Well.. I think its unique, when I sniff it, it felt a little bit sweet.. "

"Don't worry, it's not in a category 'bad', I think it's very unique that's all. "

"You're not trying to sugarcoat it right? " Flo ask while having indifferent faces once more.

"If I stuck with you for 24 hours and forces to hug you.. What are you gonna do?" Flo ask while pinching Sheila cheeks.

"Well.. I love lily flowers, so I don't mind.. But some person couldn't handle flowers scents right?"

"What if I stuck with a boy? I'm sure my armpit smell will scare them aways." Flo said while trying to snip her own armpit.

"H-haha I'm not sure, I'm bad with boys so I don't know what to say"

"M-More importantly what happened after I'm unconscious yesterday? " Sheila said asking flo to avoid those questions.

"Well uh, you kinda got knocked out…" Flo answer it again with indifferent faces.

"After that, (T) hanatos pilots were there to fight us for the rest of the lessons, we were beaten up very badly too in normal spar and in Einjards battles" she said nonchalantly.

"That's all"

After hearing this, Sheila realizes that she was weak and was making her feel a little bit embarrassed. The very reasons she went into the academy was to become strong enough to saves lives. To be honest, she wasn't even sure of what happened if she can't became an einjard pilots even tough it was unlikely she wont.

"How strong they are? "

"Very very strong, we even ganged up on him"

"So how's your Einjards? Do you the one piloting it? Or you're partner? "

"Oh you never saw mine before right, Sheila? Mine was blue while using scimtar and gun as main weapons, the one piloting it sometime were me and sometimes him. "

"To be honest, I'm bad at close range combat.. So I often switch the control with him"

Suddenly, the teacher who will teach the class walked in. She looked tired and had a stressed and tired expression on her face. She apologized for the late start, saying that she had been dealing with an emergency at home. The teacher quickly began the lesson, speaking slowly as she re-explains the rules of the Einjards Basic Military.

The teacher quickly launched into the first part of the lesson, speaking to the class with a clear voices that echoes in the classrooms.

"First of all, you must already know that Einjard consist of two people, right?" she clarified, "As a Valkyrie, we are able to transform into Einjard on our own, but without the Paladin we will become a mindless monster." She looked around for confirmation from the class, checking to see that they understood and had no questions about this.

"The bigger the sync rate, the bigger the chance you could becomes an alpha Einjards, I presume Sheila were most likely be a candidate for one because how high her synchronized rate is. " She paused for a moments, seeing the students reaction to this information.

"Don't let it getting on your mind, a mediocre girl could also increase her synchronized rate by training and surpassing her own limits just like the famous Einjards Alpha who has a letter sign (K)"

"In order to win against our enemies, we will conduct many military missions on the surface. Even though you're a cadet, you're likely to be sent as a reinforcement to secure many places." She continued with the lesson, moving on from the previous topics and explaining the missions that they would be involved with.

She stressed the importance of securing important locations and made sure the students understood the gravity of these assignments. She also emphasized the value of teamwork and cooperation, saying that they needed to work as a team to successfully complete their objectives.

"There are things that you should avoid no matter what," She said, listing them out one at a time.

"1. Being surrounded, 2. Declining a direct order, and 3. Encountering against enemies' guardians." She stressed the importance of avoiding these situations at all costs as they could lead to dangerous and potentially devastating consequences.

"Please let me re explain what is a guardian," she said, taking the time to ensure that the students understood what they were up against.

"It is the apex of our enemies' forces. In order to defeat one we sustain a very heavy price. We have lost many of our Alphas just to take down a single guardian. The last mission we used to eradicate one we lost 13 Alphas." She made sure that the students understood exactly how steep the price was for taking down one of these guardians, and how much of a threat they were.

"The total casualties exceeded 150 Einjards, which consisted of Beta Squad, Gamma Squad, and Delta Squads." She added this information to show that the threat they were facing was serious and the consequences of not taking it seriously was heavy.

She wanted to ensure the students understood the danger they were in and the need for teamwork, communication, and caution.

"Of course, Einjards can be replaced as long as their cores can be recovered. If you find yourself on the brink of death, please make sure to pass the core to one of your subordinates so someone could continue the legacy." She added this information to reinforce the importance of team work and the possibility of replacement. She wanted to emphasize that while the loss of an Einjar was bad, the core was very important and should be recovered for the sake of the future.

Sheila now understood why Captain Carla had given her the core. The cores were crucial for securing humanity's survival against their nemesis, and despite the potential costs, she was willing to sacrifice her life for the greater good.

Sheila felt a sense of respect and admiration for Captain Carla, and she felt a deeper sense of purpose in her own role as a Valkryie and Einjard Pilot. The moments She becomes a Valkryie, she was no longer just a mere soldier, but part of something greater and more important than she imagined.

"We live in these dark places beneath the earth, the surface is occupied by hideous monsters who eat and kill whatever they want, devastating the earth as they walk." She continued the lesson with a dark tone and a sense of solemnity as she described the state of the world as they knew it. She stressed how the surface was a dangerous place filled with monsters and how they had to defeated those monsters.

She also emphasized the hopelessness of their situation which emphasized the importance of their missions and their role in the greater fight against these monstrous forces.

"We have been losing many relatives, family, and lovers. Let's do a moment of silence for our family and the loss people in the Ariendiel district" The teacher said while instructing her students to made a gesture of mourning.

After hearing this Sheila could only cry in silence, she know this is not a typical story where everyone could live happily together at the end, someday we will being apart with the one we loves and maybe we didn't even have the time to said goodbyes.

Yuki, Flo, Angela, Aiko and Sheila all had reasons for becoming soldiers for humanity. They had all witnessed the destruction and devastation caused by the monsters who inhabited the surface. Despite the high risk of death with being an Einjards pilot, they still determined to do whatever it took to ensure that their loved ones would be safe.

The teacher gave a solemn gesture of mourning for the lost soldiers too. It was a powerful and respectful gesture that acknowledged their sacrifice and the gravity of their actions.

The students stood quietly during this time of reflection and mourning, taking a moment to respect the sacrifices made by those who came before them and remind themselves of the reason for their fight.

After a while, the teacher then continued with the lesson, giving the next instructions to the students.

"Everyone please prepare for the next field missions," she said, looking through the whole class and making sure that the students were paying attention and ready for the task ahead.

After hearing this, the students in the class were having a serious expressions, a sign that they understood the danger and importance of the mission ahead. They knew they were unexperienced, and that this mission could be as dangerous as the last one they had carried out before.

"Relax, this class will not send into the frontline again yet, but the next task will be rebuilding the ariendiel district as a second bases for our class operation"

"But don't think this is an easy task, there's no defense mechanism in the city yet because the creepers destroyed it the last time. "

"A month from now we will carry out the missions, and Sheila please be prepared to synch with a paladin in these short amount of time."

After hearing this, Sheila could only wonder, who is the paladin that would become her partner.

"Who? " She said to herself.
