CHAPTER 029: The Country’s Crisis

It was already past lunchtime; the place was still crowded with people wanting to eat. The capital itself was a lively place, and maybe because it was near the kingdom, there were a variety of people socializing with one another.

She looked at the number of people coming in and going out. The majority wore clothing of an obvious commoner style. Some looked like she was draped in a black cloak, some looked slightly wealthy, and some were just ordinary. She was not sure if dyeing hair was a trend in this world, but most people had mahogany brown hair.

"Here are the paper, pen, and newspaper, Young Lady." The woman came back, she was breathing heavily as if she ran a marathon.

Yanarym pointed with her lips for the woman to place the things on the empty chair.

"You can take the change as your tip."

The woman's eyes sparkled. "I should be thanking you for your generosity, Young Lady. And I am deeply sorry for treating you poorly when you came in."

"It's all right," Yanarym said. In addition, she already retaliated by making the woman buy her some stuff. "By the way, what should I call you?"

"My name is Esme, Young Lady."

"Esme, that's a gorgeous name. You can call me Rym—" Yanarym paused when she realized she should have not said that.

The first Princess's name was changed to her name, she could not be identified as the first Princess in the capital.

"Rym? Oh, all right, Lady Rym. You look like a foreigner, but you came from here as well? My niece is named after the first Princess as well." Esme said.

Yanarym bit her tongue.

Guessed like the first Princess was such a famous figure.

She sighed out of relief.

"Yes, I wish to be like her," Yanarym said.

A bell rang and Esme had to leave to serve another customer.

"You can go now."

"Thank you, Lady Rym. If there's anything you want, just ask for my assistance. I will gladly serve you."

"Yes, thank you."

Yanarym ate her plate of dessert as she grabbed the paper and pen. She took notes of the important memories that the Original had and some of the key points from the plot that would be necessary for her.

The memories and the plot of the story were not enough for her, so she began analyzing the setting at the present.

Based on Original's memory, Menotalis was widely known as the Seerian's paradise. The location was near the equator, it was a tropical land.

There were only two climates in the said country: the wet season and the dry season. It was very ideal to plant crops, tropical fruits, exotic spices, and herbs.

Aside from that the demographic involves the beaches, and scenery on the far end of the country which allows them to cultivate the oceanic farmstead. Not just that, there was also the forest where instead of cutting trees mindlessly, they would use the forest for something else. Wild plants and animals could be fostered and cultured. In some areas where the deep forest was nurtured and never been touched by the citizens, mines were discovered; there are varieties of minerals that were found that existed, however, it was rarely touched.

Menotalian mostly believed that the more you give to nature, the more you receive from it. This country was providing to the three other countries for more than a millennium—the resources were unlimited. They never run out. A dream country might they say. Despite all that being said, there were two dilemmas that the monarch of Menotalis was facing.

Everything had a problem; everyone had an issue. Some were just too good at showing there was nothing to see. Those were the excellent type of people who could make everything okay when the behind-the-scenes was already crumbling to ashes.

The Original had been incarcerated in the kingdom all her life. Her perspective was fairly biased and unreliable. In the plotline where Caius was the main cast and had most of his perspective exposed; there was little information stating that Menotalis was on the verge of collapsing.

Yanarym took the newspaper and saw the current events. As expected, there was a crisis arising.

The wet season was around the corner, and heavy rainstorms, landslides, and flash floods were inevitable. Although Menotalis was surrounded by trees and forests, there were still cases of flooding in the area.

That was because…

The unlimited number of properties was not real. Mountains were being assaulted by people who needed resources. The mines were dug too deep and were causing the hills to collapse, too much garbage and toxicity were polluting oceans; capitalism was killing nature.

It was about time to happen. They were a country that has been providing for the entire continent for a millennium. It was to be expected that the sources of nature would not be enough for everyone.

At the present, there was a chance to revive the country, the land could still be saved if people overseeing domestic affairs would stop saving face.

They say Menotalis was all about its prestige. As long as they could maintain the image, they would ransack the land to the very last drop.

The thing was, out of the four kingdoms, throughout time. Although the different races had been mixed up. There was still this unspoken supremacy between who was higher than who. It was in human nature.

Tolireams were proud of their achievements with their inventions and advancements. They were the science of this continent. The brain.

Dytalicians' pride was their inhuman strength. No one can be physically stronger than they were. They were the power.

Vortrionians were known for their quirkiness, their abilities, and the salamanca that none of the other countries could have.

Menotalians have nothing to offer as a person. Their talent was caring and providing.

They were the most understanding and peaceful out of the four countries. They were known for being resourceful. If their resourcefulness was taken out of the picture. Menotalis would be nothing… That was what most vassals of the court had been arguing.

They did not want to lose their usefulness.

Some vassals would counter those who wanted to keep the prestige that they kept on fighting for that was gradually fading into existence. Some of them were actually on a crusade to save their land more than keeping faces.
