"...you want me to what?"

Irade couldn't believe her ears. Not to mention her eyes. The Demon Lord was looking at her with a weird, determined expression, as if he was trying to look sincere.

Or worse, he actually was sincere.

"Is this a joke?" Irade asked. "Are you trying to trick me into something?"

"Only into becoming my assistant," said the Demon Lord smoothly, spreading his arms out wide and smiling. Irade instantly recoiled; there was just something...wrong about that smile.

No. It wasn't the smile. It was the whole goddamn situation.

"Do you actually think that I would want to be your assistant?" Irade asked, unable to stop herself.

"This is why I asked you to keep an open mind," the Demon Lord sighed. "You're being clouded by all your emotions. If you just took my offer logically, you could see that it's actually quite beneficial to you."
