5 CHAPTER 5
Leanda leaves Diego's mansion, after the event that occured. She got herself a cab and went straight to the hospital to get help for her father.
Arriving at the hospital, Leanda went to see a doctor she already communicated with some weeks back, concerning her father's illness.
She gets to his office and shows him the money. "I want to start my father's treatment. Please, I need an ambulance to bring him here to the hospital. I have the money to pay," She said. Showing the doctor the cash.
The doctor looks at the money and tells Leanda that he's pleased that she has the money. He then asks her if the money is up to fifty thousand dollars to start the treatment.
Leanda is silent. She counts the money and sees it's twenty thousand dollars.
"Can't we start the treatment with this amount first? I promise to bring the rest," She pleaded with the doctor.
"I'm sorry Miss Fermi, but you know the policy of the hospital. The payment must be full before treatment can begin," The doctor said to Leanda. Explaining the policy of the hospital.
She feels down. "So what can I do right now? My father's temperature has increased. He's shivering at this moment. Isn't there anything I can do for him first?" She asked the doctor.
The doctor tells her that there is a way. He prescribed some medicines to Leanda and tells her to give it to her father.
"Before eating, let him make use of these medicines first. He'll feel better. Once you have the full money, we'll start the treatment," The doctor advised her.
Leanda takes the prescription. With a heavy heart, she leaves the hospital and heads for the pharmacist outside.
Leanda gets all the drugs on the list and takes it back home to her father. She meets her father laying on the bed, still shivering.
She helped him up to sit down, took the medicine out and gave it to him, according to the prescriptions.
Her father took the medicine and waited for some minutes, before he's fed his food.
After giving her father the medicine from that hour till night, his body temperature became normal again.
Leanda sat beside her father, troubled about what the doctor had told her. The money she got from Diego wasn't enough to start the treatment. She needed more.
Leanda decided to go and meet Diego tomorrow again. Hoping he gives her the money before she starts her work fully.
The next day, at Diego's mansion. The Mafia Lord is glaring at two of his men, who failed to carry out an important work.
He sent them to end a man, who works hand in hand with his enemy. But they failed to find him.
This made Diego angry. He sends the men away from his sight. Roaring at them as they rushed out of the living room.
Angry, he sits on his couch, thinking of how to get the job done. A call comes in from his security. Diego answered angrily. Only for him to learn that Leanda was outside.
His heart glowed immediately. Smiles creeping across his face, as he instructed the security to let her in. Diego dropped the phone down, smiling cunningly.
In some minutes, Leanda stepped into the living room to find Diego waiting for her. He stands up to welcome her.
Leanda moves closer to Diego and greets him like yesterday. He smiled, took hold of her hand and kissed it.
He offered her a seat and asked why she was here today. "Your work hasn't started, so why are you here gorgeous?" He asked.
Leanda, with hopes filled within her, requests for fifty thousand dollars from Diego. "You can take it out from my pay once I start fully. Right now I need the money sir," She begged.
Hearing this, Diego chuckled. Turning his chuckling into laughter in no time. Leaving Leanda frightened. Wondering if she has said something wrong.
"That's not how it works here Leanda. You have to earn it," He said to her. Staring at her.
"What... What must I do to get the money sir?" She stammered. Her heart pounding in desperation.
Diego smirked at her. He picked up an envelope from the table at the side of the couch. He gives it to Leanda.
Leanda takes out the content to check. Her eyes fell on a photograph of a familiar person she knows. "Dominick?" She dazed at the photo.
"Oh, you know him?" Diego asked, staring at Leanda with no end to it.
Leanda nodded briefly. She tells Diego that they work together at the factory, before it was closed down. Diego is thrilled to learn this.
"These makes the work very easy then," He said to Leanda.
Leanda doesn't understand Diego. She's shocked when Diego pulls out a dagger and a gun. Handing it over to Leanda.
"Sir?"
"I want you to kill this man," He ordered her.
Leanda rises from the couch and gazes at Diego. Is this what she signed up for? To be a killer?
Diego sees this. He rises to face Leanda. Telling her that she already agreed to work for him and has taken the welcome gift already.
"You want more money don't you?" He asked Leanda. His eyes shimmering right at her with so much danger written inside.
Leanda gazed at his eyes in fear. She nodded and told him yes.
Diego smirked and said, "Then kill this man. Don't see him as your coworker. He's a dangerous man, just like that boss of yours. They work together."
Leanda is stunned to hear this. She never knew that Dominick is a bad person. No one can tell if they see his innocent face and loving nature.
"The fee to kill this enemy of mine is seventy thousand dollars. If you can end him, I'll pay you the money immediately," Diego revealed to Leanda.
Seventy thousand dollars. She could use it to get her father's treatment started. But by killing?
"Are you going to do it or not?" Diego questioned Leanda.
The helpless lady gazed at him with fear. What will she say?
