Crystal Blue
Her shaky hands moved to knock on the door and then a deep, enthralling voice sounded from within saying 'come in'
'No Teressa, the voice doesn't matter' she chanted to herself as she opened the door only to meet a pair of crystal blue eyes which looked back down into the computer in front of them. Her eyes scanned the man sitting in the middle of the room with his hands typing furiously on the keys in front of him.
His shiny black hair was styled to perfection and the lineaments of his face were in perfect proportion to each other. He radiated a cold and unapproachable aura as his squared shoulders showed an air of authority as he leaned back into the swivel chair. His cheekbones looked as if they were chiseled by a master craftsman and his eyes were very striking. Anyone who looked into it would get spellbound.
"Are you done staring?" his deep voice sounded like music to the ears but it also woke up Teressa who looked like she had seen an epitome of beauty.
"Sorry, boss. I wasn't staring. I just zoned out. That's all." She said, awkwardly lying as she tried to save some face.
"I believe Josh has already told you about the procedures you have to follow as a staff of this place. I won't say much so just take those documents with you," Michael said just as he pointed to a stack of documents on the table at the far end of the room "Work on it and tell Josh to show you to your office. Leave." he commanded and that same cold aura seemed to envelope him again.
Teressa walked out grumpily 'What? It isn't like I did anything so why the heck did he look like he was angry at me' she mumbled to herself and didn't know when she bumped into someone. It was Josh.
"Sorry." she smiled apologetically to which Josh just shook his head and smiled back.
"No need to apologize. It was an accident. I was on my way to you anyways to show you your office. It's on the floor below. Only the boss occupies this floor. We are on the same floor by the way." he said as they walked towards the elevator took them to the floor below. They walked straight ahead then turned left before Josh stopped in front of a door.
"Your office. Enjoy." Josh waved her goodbye as she watched him turn the next right. That was probably the way to his office. She pushed the door to her new office open and the fresh smell entered her nose. Then she remembered the scent of vanilla and cinnamon when she walked past Michael's table. To tell the truth, she liked his scent. Wait.....what was she saying? She likes her boss scent? No. Definitely not. She shook her head as she headed to her table to finally sort out the documents her rude boss handed her. She started working on the documents when her phone rang. Oh. Her neglecting boyfriend, Zach was calling. She let the call end and waited till he called again. He called again and she finally picked it.
"What do you want? I didn't expect to see your call till we broke up?" she asked,, her voice already taking a cold form.
"Chill baby. I wanted to call but I was on a business meeting and I gave my phone to my assistant." Zach said sweetly over the phone with a loving voice.
"You should have told me before then. How are you doing?" Teressa asked, the invisible ice barrier around her dissipating.
"I am fine baby. I know you're around already. So what do you say about coming over to my place today so we can have some fun?" Zach said invitingly hoping she would agree. The only time he ever got to see her was when he went on business trips to Canada and it was exhausting. The long distance too was exhausting for him. And hopefully, they would cross the last stage of their relationship today.
"Sure. Come pick me up at let's ay 8:30 sharp, please? I don't have a car yet." she requested pouting hoping he was not too busy to do that.
"Sure, baby. See you by 8:30 then. Love you." Zach said and Teressa blushed profusely before replying timidly.
"Love you too." she said shyly before hanging up the call.
She continued her work and was able to finish by 8:00 pm when her boss decided to call her to his office. She rushed to the elevator and headed upstairs hurriedly. She didn't want to miss her date with Zach. He would be here in 30 minutes and she didn't want anything to ruin it. Hopefully, her boss just wanted to remind her of something. But it seemed as if luck wasn't on her side because when she got into the office, Michael pointed to some documents on the table. She headed to the table, took the documents, murmured some greetings and walked out. Arghh, she wanted to scream. It was 8....she checked her watch. It was 8:02 pm. She had to finish this in 28 minutes. She ran to the elevator and then her office and hurriedly started sorting them out. Her phone rang minutes later. It was Zach.
"I am here. Come downstairs." Zach said and she could not help but then speed up more. She hurriedly finished the documents, decided that she would drop it in Michael's office tomorrow but she was still late because it was already 8:40 pm. She sorted the documents on the table, carried her bag and hurried downstairs. Zach's car was waiting at the entrance for her. She walked to the car and entered inside and a surprise kiss landed on her lips the moment she settled down.
"Wow, I didn't expect that." she said surprised as she put on her seatbelt ready to go.
"And I have a lot more surprises for you." Zach smiled, started the engine and drove off.
