Chapter 012- Mysterious name 'Death shadow'

Inside a car parked outside of a lighted Mansion were Rogue and Marius. They both had hoodies and black sweatpants on.

"This shit wouldn't be happening if those fuckers hadn't glimpsed my face." Rogue cursed. The Solomons had caught a glimpse of his face the last time he had confronted them, and it didn't end well.

"If they have Roman, then there's no way he's making it out alive. You assassinated their older brother after all." Marius said with a relaxed expression as he filled his open gun with bullets. "Those bitches are vengeful."

"They wouldn't want to mess with me,"

"They would, actually. Their aim for taking Roman is either to slaughter him or lure you in to have you for good. You've been a problem in their ass for a long time." Marius didn't need to peek at Rogue to know his jaw was ticking.

Rogue sighed. "Let's confirm they have Roman first," He pressed the tiny button in his earpod and said. "Got anything yet?"

The person from the other side, Merton, grumpily responded. "No," the sound of popcorn being munched was heard. "I don't think they have Roman. But I won't be so conclusive, there are some areas I couldn't get access to. I need you to get inside to have access." Merton paused as he worked on his computer. "But be careful, those fuckers got a plan up their wrinkled sleeves."

"Alright." And the call disconnected. He turned to face Marius. "Don't show unless necessary," He cautioned.

Marius nodded.

Rogue stepped out of the car with his head lowered and strolled nearer to the Mansion. As he got to the gate he heard the noise of guns being cocked. The guards of the Mansion were pointing their guns at him.

"Who are you?" One of the guards asked.

Rogue raised his head and removed his hoodie cap. "Damon."

A look was shared between the guards as confusion passed their eyes. But the guards didn't get to react as they fell to the ground.

A sniper bullet had pierced into their skull.

Rogue pushed the gate open and stepped inside. Annihilating in an enemy's territory means endangering yourself, but Rogue didn't care.

As he stepped towards the Mansion, he noticed everywhere was oddly quiet. They were expecting him.

He turned the handle on the door, and strangely it opened. If he hadn't known the Solomons very well he would have thought they had relocated.

He looked around the living room, it was bare of portraits and antiques. He moved away from the door, only for the door to shut. The noise of guns cocked filled the room. The once empty large room was suddenly filled with people with guns.

"You do know how to make an entrance, Damon, or should I say, Rogue," A middle-aged man with a pipe enclosed around his lips moved forward with a smirk. "To be honest, I expected you earlier. I thought you and that girl had a connection, but I was wrong. Bombing the ship was a waste of time."

Rogue remained unfazed with the guns pointed at him. "And?"

"You saved the girl. But that doesn't mean you care for her. So, what are you here for?" He removed the pipe from his lips and blew smoke at Rogue's face. "The death shadow?"

"Where's Roman?"

The man smirked. "Well, that's interesting. Why don't we move to a more comfortable place to discuss that." The man suggested.

The man was Sirus Solomon, the second son of the Solomons household.

"Lead the way,"

Sirus walked past his men into the inner room of the Mansion. The room had guards surrounding it. Sirus gestured for Rogue to sit on the chair opposite him. "So, Roman?"

"Where is he?"

"Isn't that your brother who gets in trouble every time? The one that always messes with the bad guys?"

"My question was straightforward, Sirus,"

Sirus chuckled. "If I had him, he'd be dead by now." His chuckle couldn't conceal the rage in his eyes. "I was hoping I'd get my hands on him,"

"You could have saved my time by telling me earlier." Rogue sighed and stood from his seat. "I guess I'll take my leave now." He took two steps forward and was curtailed.

"I don't think that's possible, Rogue. You've killed more than enough members of the Solomons to be let to wander freely." As Sirus said this, the men in the room suddenly raised their guns and pointed them at Rogue. There were six of them.

Rogue turned around to face him with a bored expression. "I'm not in the mood for bloodshed, Sirus," He tried to move again, but a cocked gun was then placed on his head.

"I like you, Rogue. Despite being an illiterate, you're good with your words and confidence."

This boiled Rogue's blood. "I'd control my words if I were you," Rogue said, still composed. But Sirus erupted with laughter.

"My men are a second away from exploding your fucking skull, Rogue. I'm the one in control here." He gloated.

"You sure?" Rogue tilted his brow.

"I'm-" Sirus didn't get to complete his sentence when bullets started flying into the room. The bullets were silent, killing everybody in the room within seconds, except Rogue.

Rogue brushed away the blood smears on his sweatpants and hoodie with annoyance. It was a new pair.

He walked into the living room and realized the men were all dead.

"Two minutes."

Rogue heard through his earpod, and he didn't waste time and ran out of the Mansion. He was close to the gate when he noticed Marius behind him. They ran past the gate, just in time for the Mansion to erupt into flames.

They entered the car and wore their seat belts.

"You pressed the emergency button, why?" Marius asked, it was the same question on Merton's mind as he stayed connected through the earpod.

The emergency button was only used when the situation was deadly out of hand. And that was to burn down an entire building to leave no evidence. But the Solomons had no evidence against them.

Rogue breathed out and glanced out of the window. "They know."

"What are you talking about?" Merton's voice rang through the earpod.

"The death shadow."

Marius and Merton knew the name, but they had never seen this person before. It was someone Rogue had been trying to protect since they knew him.

Who was this person that Rogue would want to protect from coming into light?
