Chapter 14 - Secret Revealed

I sat on my bed and Shon joined me. He held my hand, and his grip told me something was off.

"Shon?"

"Lyra have you been hiding something from me?"

Lyra. He hasn't used that name in a long time.

"What do you mean?"

"Do you remember way back when, about my crash on the sailboat?"

"Yes, how could I forget?"

"Well, I saw you."

"When?"

"You saved me."

"Shon, what do you mean?"

He looked at me and moved his hand to my neck. He gently touched my choker. "You're a syren, aren't you?"

I sighed in defeat. "Yes."

"Why didn't you tell me?" Shon asked, looking hurt.

"I didn't want you to think that you were friends with a cursed person."

"First off, you're my girlfriend, and-" He kissed me gently. "You're not cursed."

"But I'm also not completely human either." I looked away, sad.

"Hey…" Shon gently moved my head, and our gazes met each other. "I love you either way, you know that right?"

"Yeah; thanks Shon." I kissed him before standing up. "Want to see it?"

"See what?"

"My syren form, silly." I said while walking to the tub. I got in and turned on the water while Shon sat on the toilet seat. Shon was speechless as he gulped.

"It's beautiful," he said, smiling. I blushed. He moved from his seat and touched my fins.

"Is this, um, acceptable?" I asked, scared.

"It never had to be." He smiled and kissed the fin, gently stroking the scales. Then he kissed me. "You're perfect the way you are."

I smiled and hugged him. "Thanks babe." I got out soon after and got ready for the rest of the activities for the day.

Tonight we're going to have a game night in our room. The four of us. We're going to do karaoke, games, act silly, and just have fun for the last night of our trip. The next day the whole class is going to spend the day on the ship. Water slides and pools and other things. When it was around 5 pm we changed into party clothes. I wore a black tank that had a red and black flannel shirt design as the dress. Shon wore a fishing shirt that had tiny cacti all over it with shorts. A knock came at our door and Shon went to open it, and revealed Kori and Ian. Kori wore a black dress with roses at the bottom half. Ian wore a fishing shirt that had tiny pineapples with a sky blue background and shorts as well.

"Yo! What up man!" Ian shouted as he ran to Shon like a princess. Kori and I hugged after she put some cards and games on the bed. Ian also brought food and drinks with him. We talked a bit before playing Uno. After a few crazy rounds we changed to Cards Against Humanity, then to Pictionary, and so on.

Once we were finished with round one of games, we went to sing karaoke, and got some snacks. An hour later, we played a few rounds of Twister. Then we did karaoke again. Once we had our fill of snacks, games, and drinks we started a movie. After watching the movie we said our goodbyes and goodnights. Tonight, Shon and I cuddled in the same bed before we fell asleep.

Part 7

Today was just a day of relaxing on the boat and hanging out with friends before the school year ends. We spent the whole day together. Me, Shon, Kori, and Ian. We spent our whole lives together and now that it might change, I'm scared. The whole class played some large group games together and such. It was just like a big party. We had an eating competition and surprisingly, Ian won. Shon won all the athletic competitions. Kori won beauty queen and I just watched. Tonight, before we leave the ship, we'll be having a prom dance. Kori and I were talking when the boys went up and romantically asked us to join them at prom. Of course we said yes.

When the time came I went to Kori's room and Ian went to mine so we could keep our outfits a secret from each other. I wore a blue to purple ombre sleeveless dress with a diamond belt. My hair was done up in a formal braided bun, and I wore some makeup with blue heels that had a silver wire crawling around the shoes. Kori wore her hair braided to the side with make-up. Her dress had lace mixed with jewels on the top half, with blue velvet fabric and a black belt. Her dress was also short and sleeveless, and her shoes were white with gems and white flowers attached to the side.

It was a prom on a boat so we didn't have our flower bracelets. After some time a knock came at our door and it opened, revealing handsome Shon and Ian. Ian wore a dark blue suit with black patterns, black pants, shoes, and a black bow tie. Shon wore a blue suit with blue pants, a light blue tie, and black shoes. They lead us to the ballroom like princesses. Ian and Kori left to dance.

"May I have this dance, Miss. Evergarden?" Shon asked as he bowed down, holding his hand out.

"Yes, you may Mr. Bougainvillea." I responded, also bowing and grabbing his hand. He led me to the floor and we danced.

After prom, we changed, packed, and left the boat. Everyone split ways to their homes to unpack and settle down for the night. Ian and Kori went to their home, but Shon insisted he spend the last night with me, and I agreed. I unpacked and got ready for bed while Shon did the same in a different room. I walked out on my balcony and watched the night lit beach. Shon came up behind me and wrapped his arms around me, rested his chin on top of my head, and swayed. We hummed a tune then we went to bed.
