1 He's Ruthless

Voe's dark green eyes melted a tear that fell lazily on her cheek.

The room was dark, embodied with unsolicited grief that made Voe ponder over what she had done to deserve such grievance.

An aged woman, somewhat in her late fifties, laid lifelessly on a sofa and Voe knelt before her, holding onto her soft hands. The woman's face was pale. Her lashes retired against her lower lash line…

" You caused this." Her grumpy aunt Noa said, holding Voe's shoulder aggressively. "You should have heeded to her instructions. Now look at what you've caused." She added.

"Isn't there something we can do? Something can be done right?" Voe questioned, in a weak tone, void of hope.

"Of course!" Noa answered sarcastically.

"There is? Tell me. Tell me. I'll do anything to ensure her eyes are opened again, and her mouth utter words and her heart can beat once again."

"You senseless brat, am I god to resurrect her? Answer? You claim to be so wise, yet you're stupid to stupor.."

"You shouldn't be saying all these…it hurts."

"Tell me something better to say, huh? You're heartless, that's all I can say…You caused everything!" She said, turning away to the window that shew brightly the moonlight.

"Is that all you have to say? Is that all that matters at this point? Mother was killed by that evil Alpha Arthur, and all you can say is I'm heartless. Did you ever care about mother? Did you ever love her?" Noa questioned, perplexed, in a manner that seemed not like something Noe would say.

" Mind your choice of words. I will not have a petty seventeen year old child question my love for anyone. Mind the manner in which you speak in order not to attract my wrath." She warned.

"To hell with your wrath. Fuck you! Fuck everything about you! All you care about is your ego and the lucre you get from influential people. That's all you care about. You're selfish!"

Suddenly, a slap landed on Voe's maroon face. She expected it. If not something worse. It was apparently the first time she dared to talk to her aunt Noa in that manner.

"It seems you have lost your manners and your sense of thinking. I hope that adjusts your brain."

"I hate you." Voe said, holding onto her left cheek.

The doorbell chimed. Noa shot a deadly glare at Voe and left to answer the door.

The room grew darker and occupied with grief. Voe gently walked over to where her mother laid lifelessly with a furnace burning coldly opposite her. Her 'war' against Alpha Arthur had been won. She successfully escaped marrying him but now, she was at a greater loss than she thought he was.

Ma was in support of her not tying the knots with him. In helping her escape from the dungeon which Alpha Arthur claimed to be a room, he killed Ma; shooting her in the head.

"You should have left me". Voe said and broke down once more, kneeling fragilely near the corpse.

A sudden angry breeze elapsed and the lights almost went off, only the burning furnace was left untouched. The aura had changed . Something was wrong.

She stood up in amazement and drew out a dagger from her crutched boots.

"Who is there?" she said, blindly in search of who had triggered the sudden atmosphere. Then a voice was heard, it was mighty and thick, filled with darkness and pride.

A human figure walked in. He seemed like the mighty type. His thick dreadlocks were braided neatly and his muscles seemed like he was a friend to the gym. Sadly, his face was veiled.

"Who are you?" She asked again.

"Kneel. Kneel before me." The voice said.

"Who are you? Reveal yourself." She held her dagger tightly and set her body for a fight.

"I said kneel!" The voice said and immediately, his eyes glared blue and the furnace went off, leaving the room in total darkness.

Voe suddenly felt her hand being crumbled like a piece of paper, her bones were cracking which left her no choice but to drop her dagger and fall to her knees. She wailed in pain.

"Do you now care to know who I am, Luna?"

"What do you want?" she asked. The pain that he caused was unknown to her. She hadn't experienced pain in that manner. And his kind of power…it was a mystery…

"You seek for your mother to be brought back to life. You desire her heart to beat once again."

"Are you Alpha Arthur?" Voe asked, sweating profusely and her head bowing sorrowful to the earth. She recognized his voice now. She knew he was a werewolf. An alpha at that but where he had gained such power left her mind patrolling. The last time she checked, magic wasn't a gift given to werewolves.

"Can you at least make this pain stop?" she begged.

"Are you begging?" He asked in a mocking tone. "Beg…I want you to beg."

"I'm sorry, I can't." She said,

"You can't…you can't?" He laughed loudly in a terrifying way and Voe screamed hard. The pain she felt was unimaginable as her hands were emitting sweat. Her veins became clearer to see.

"Please, please, make it stop!" She pleaded.

"Did I hear you say something?" He asked, smiling devilishly.

"Please, make this pain stop!" She said, with so much strength taken from her body.

"As you wish…" He said, and the crumpling stopped and the darkness eluded in haste. She weakly fell on her back, trying to catch her breath.

Noa quickly rushed in with a lamp in her hand, fear was boldly inscribed on her face.

"Alpha Arthur! " She said, rushing to him and immediately fell to her knees. "I apologize."

"We're not sorry for anything. You caused all of these…what more do you want now? Our lives?"

"Hmm, that's a good idea. I'll take that into consideration." He said, unveiling.

"Please don't listen to her. She's merely naive and speaking out of foolishness. Please pardon us."

"You shouldn't scold my love in that manner. She isn't naive, neither is she foolish." He contested and dashed Noa away with his foot.

"Ma shouldn't have died. At least I didn't get to marry someone as dreadful as you. I'm glad about that." She said in agony.

" Indeed you've won this. You failed to marry me before the full moon tonight, but guess what?" He asked and opened his hands in a triumphant manner.

There was silence. In panic, Voe heaved and swallowed her saliva perhaps to gain a voice.

"The queen mother paid the price for your misbehavior"

Voe closed her eyes and tightened her fists, perhaps to control her anger.

"Guess what again? It's the full moon tonight. Imagine a werewolf unchained and alone, unsheltered…"

"What do you mean?" Voe asked. She deeply hoped he was not implying what she thought.

"Noa?" He called out.

"Yes?" She answered, in a cold feet.

"Throw her out." He ordered.

"What?" Noa's mouth was left agape.

"I'm not sure you'll enjoy me repeating myself. Throw…her…out!" He ordered and an angry breeze blew.

Noa suddenly grabbed Voe by the arm and walked her to the door when his cold voice stopped them.

"Wait!" He ordered. He watered his steps to where they stood.

"Please don't do this…" Voe begged. Fatigued.

"I'll be needing this." He said and snatched a Ruby that hung to her neck.

"That's mine!" She cried and Noa pushed her out. She fell to the earth…weakly.

"That's all I have left of my mother…" she mumbled to herself. The doors were shut in her face. That was all…

Her howl was getting louder. The moon shone brightly in the sky; it was the full moon now. The chains that she had tied to herself had begun getting fragile and loose. Her veins thickened and blood crawled out, due to the force of the chains on her fists.

Finally, the chains cut loose and she released himself, growling loudly and gnashing her teeth in rage. She convincingly sniffed around in the woods, she had smelled something, something like human blood!

Her glowing eyes caught a thing running at full speed. With no haste, she began to chase, in an effort to get hold of the creature.

As she chased, she became close enough to see clearly. He wore a dress. It had thick brown hair and it ran in a way that one could ascertain it was weak.

Voe suddenly scratched it with her mighty claws and it fell in despair. She growled triumphantly and turned her prey to see. Lo,it was a kind she had never seen. It was human

Hislashes, her lashes were curled, she had never seen such before. And his skin was smooth and glowed even in the dark night. His pointed nose and succulent lips that were too good to kiss…made her suddenly take a pause in howling.

Her brows fell when she knew she had hurt a beautiful creature like his kind. She suddenly ran with speed, with her feet and claws making a galloping sound. The effect of the full moon was too strenuous for her to endure. Afterall she was new to it.

She stopped again and howled, running back to her prey, perhaps in regret.

She met him lying still. His body was warm. She endured the pain and went a few steps away and picked some leaves. She didn't know what they were but believed it could help.

Quietly, she walked to him and squashed the leaves into moist and gently applied it to his bruised neck. Surprisingly, he had also injured his feet. She applied more and more, hoping it would be enough and healed fast.

He had begun positively reacting to the herb and almost opened his weak eyes due to the unintentional noise Voe made. She noticed her movements were a bit noisy for him and fell silent, gathering large leaves and carrying him in her arms to the bed she had made for him.

In the history of her reaction to the full moon, never had she been so calm. Never. But she guessed this was it.

She gently laid him down, while he was fast asleep and took off without having a last look at him…
