1 PROLOGUE

I sat in the garden while waiting for my husband, thinking about some random stuff. After some time, my child came to greet me; the child looked at me with a sorrowful expression.

I knew something was bothering him. I started the conversation with a regular question. "How was your sword training?"

He replied, "Mother, today when I was learning sword techniques from father, I saw his body covered with deep scars, while other knights didn't have that."

I teared up listening to his worries. My young boy is barely eight, and he cares about his parents so much.

He continued, "Even though father suffered so much, he still smiles at me and is kind to everyone. How can he do that?"

I smiled and asked him to sit beside me. "Ray, I know when you look at those scars you feel sad, but more than that, you should feel proud. Scars from the battlefield are the proof of how hard they fought to protect their nation, to protect us. So be always grateful to your father. He is not just your father, he is our sun, the king of our nation."

Then suddenly, a voice said, "What is my beautiful wife doing here?"

I knew regardless of how busy my husband would be, he would always spare some time for us.

I replied with a smile. "Ah, well, I was waiting for my charming husband."

I asked King Claude to sit with us, and the three of us peacefully enjoyed each other's company.

Ray, with a big smile, asked, "Mother, Father, I want to know how you two met."

His eyes were sparkling with curiosity. "Please tell me your story."

The King and I both realised that he wouldn't stop until he heard our story. We started laughing and decided who would start first.

Ray asked, "Mother, can we hear your story?"

I hesitated. "Alright," I agreed. "This story is full of drama that might make you feel sad, but trust me, when there is darkness walking through a tunnel, you will definitely find the light… It all began when…"
