7 Doubts

William stared at her as the look of pure surprise left his face. Slowly he closed his eyes. "Do what you want." He said

Alex smiled at him. "You should come to the substation; we have a project to finish."

"Lead the way, Russo."

William followed her as she began to head toward the Waverly substation, nobody could have predicted that today's events would happen, but these two decided they wouldn't let that get them down. They had to live their lives. They had a lot of work, and most had nothing to do with their history assignment.

...

William and Alex began to spend a lot of time together, even after they finished their project. Alex had to teach him about a lot of things, after all. She knew she was doing the right thing, but something helping him got her into trouble. When her parents got home, she was scolded.

"What were you thinking leaving class like that?" Theresa asked, looking at her daughter. There was dead silence for several moments before a sigh left Alex's lips as she scratched her head, and an irritated look crossed her face.

Jerry crossed his arms together. "Well?"

"I don't see what the problem is. I went to check on William, and then we came to the substation to do some work on our project."

"Yes, we saw the boy leaving. You didn't give him any free food, did you?" Jerry asked.

"No, I didn't give him any food, Dad," Alex said.

Theresa stared at her daughter; while it was good that he was concerned for her classmate, that didn't mean it was ok for her to ditch school; even so, she could understand her need to ensure William was alright. 'What kind of life did the boy lead for him to feel that way about his family? How could he not care about his family? I can definitely understand why she'd be worried, though.' She thought.

"You know you're getting grounded, right?"

Alex sighed. She knew that was coming. She was more than willing to help William with his problems, but that didn't mean she had to like being grounded.

"Alright."

As Alex began to teach William what it meant to care for others, what the words Compassionate and kindness truly meant, time went by quickly. He was making decent progress. While still confused on the matter, he knew a little of what it meant to care for another person. You had to put yourself before the person you were trying to help. It was a new concept to him because he had only ever thought about himself and his safety all his life, but to care about someone and be compassionate, you had to put that person before yourself.

Although he didn't have anyone he cared about or to be compassionate about, William was excited to learn to do something he never knew before. He was always the type that was eager to learn since way back when. On the days, William would train with his father as an Elemental. Back when he wanted to grow stronger when he had something to fight for. One day maybe his fist would crackle with lightning again. Being around Alex, he learned about all sorts of things; he wasn't as cold as before, and William knew one thing for sure, William liked being around Alex, and although William was a mean person at times, Alex was someone he was never cold towards. It had been a little over three weeks since that day with the little girl known as Emma; it had changed him in more ways than one.

Justin stared at Alex as she was talking about something; she appeared to smile at something he had said. They had notebooks out, so he had assumed they were working on some schoolwork. "Do you think she likes him?" He asked, looking at his best friend, Zeke.

"No way, man. William just doesn't care for others; he doesn't care for anyone, remember. That's cute, you worrying about your sister." Zeke said. "They're only doing schoolwork. Alex doesn't even like him; no idea why they continued to do schoolwork after that project of theirs; maybe he's tutoring her."

"Maybe, yeah. That could be it." Justin replied as he blinked his eyes and looked at his best friend. "Come on, we have our own homework to get to."

Zeke sighed before saying. "Right."

...

"How many Precincts does that make it now?" Allen asked as he deactivated the flames from his right fist. The blazing inferno that was the 12th precinct burned brightly behind the duo.

Adrian chuckled as he walked beside his partner. "That's the fifth precinct, making our body count close to 1,800." He said

"Remind me again why we don't just hit up every precinct within New York?" Allen asked, a look of irritation stretching across his face. "It's not like we couldn't handle it."

Adrian glanced at him. "The boss changed his mind about Detroit for now; that surprise attack forced him to execute his plans sooner than expected. Lord Dahak doesn't want to risk the military getting involved; dealing with that many numbers would be annoying. What if the remainder of the New York Police Department decided to join forces with The Military within the area?"

"I guess," Allen replied as he began to walk away. "What about the brat? Is there really no chance he'll try and stop us? Dahak said he was a prodigy."

Adrian matched his pace and said. "The boy is cold towards the entire world, his family included, and if he were to get involved, that would only be his downfall. He hasn't used his abilities in over five years. No need for us to get involved with him." He Replied.

"Alright."

"Let's report to the boss."

Allen grinned. "I'll race ya."

"I'm not going to make it easy for you."

'Wouldn't dream of it."
