8 Changes

William stared at Alex as she jotted something down on paper. He knew a little about how to be kind towards another human being, and honestly it made him feel great, and helping someone else felt good as well. He wished someone had been there for him when he was a small boy, so it made him happy that he could be there for someone else.

He wasn't the cold bastard he used to be hanging around Alex had caused him to become a better person. He couldn't think of her enough. Still, it was a complex concept for him to understand. After all, he had grown up in a harsh environment; before he met Alex, he knew nothing about kindness or compassion.

William noticed as he hung around Alex, he was becoming less cold. Especially towards Alex, he didn't understand it. She was the one person William never wanted to be unfriendly towards. Though he didn't know why this was.

"We should go grab something to eat after this," Alex said, which caused him to look at her and give her a slight smile.

"Let's do that."

…..

"Well done," Dahak said. "This is the Fifth prescience we've taken out; we're making decent progress. Keep up the good work, boys."

"Yes, Lord Dahak."

"Yes, my lord."

"How many men do we have recruited?" Adrian asked his leader, who grinned.

"A little over 8,000."

"8,000?! We've recruited a lot of men, haven't we?"

Dahak nods. "We've been looking everywhere for new recruits. I have men all over the world searching for our new comrades."

"What's next?" Allen asked.

"Well, I'm sending some men into the Wizarding world to look for new recruits. We need many men to remove the remainder of the Police department."

"How many men?"

"I think 15,000 would be competent."

"15,000…."

"Yeah, we could get them all together and…" Dahak chuckled darkly. "I think you catch my drift."

Allen and Adrian did in fact know what their leader was insinuating. If they, along with an army that massive, were to gather in front of the remainder of the police department, they could take them all out instantly.

"Get some rest; you won't have that luxury pretty soon."

"Yes, Lord Dahak!" They chorused.

….

Alex yawned as she and William walked away from a small restaurant, they had been interested in. The food was good despite being a restaurant that wasn't widely known.

"Have you heard about the Precincts being burned down?" Alex asked as she walked beside him. He glanced at her and nodded.

"Over the past few weeks, four precincts have been wiped out. It's frightening." He spoke. 'I don't think this is the work of a bomber.' He thought. 'Could this perhaps be caused by something…. magical?'

William wasn't sure what the cause of the recent tragedies was, and honestly, he didn't want to get involved; however, another part of him wanted to get to the bottom of this, to find out if it was a magical situation. He was being taught that to have compassion for others, you had to sympathize with their situation and help ease their pain, so maybe he could do that by finding out the culprit of these murders?

'It's worth looking into.' He thought. 'There's no telling if I'll ever use these abilities of mine again... but I can at least find out the cause of all the death in the city.'

"William? You, ok?"

He nods.

"You zoned out for a while there."

"Sorry, I was thinking about something, but anyway, I've heard of the Precincts."

"It's a real Tragedy," Alex said, glancing at him.

William nodded. "It is."

"Who do you think…." Her voice sounded as if it was drowned out as he seemed to be distracted by something.

William stopped walking before narrowing his eyes."

"What are you-"Whatever Alex was going to say was cut off as she was pushed to the ground. She blinked as she felt slight pain from being shoved to the ground. She looked up to see a guy with what looked to be a flaming sword; William had caught his arm, stopping him from slicing.

'If he didn't see that attack coming...William, you saved me.' Alex thought with amazement. 'Is he magical? A wizard? I don't think wizards use weapons besides their wands.'

William looked at the enemy, who glared at him as he tried to get out of his grip, but that proved ineffective. "Who are you?"

The man didn't say anything. Not a peep.

"I won't ask again. Why did you try to take us out?" William questioned. He knew this guy was a Flame Elemental though what he hoped to accomplish was beyond him.

The man looked William in the eye and smirked, William was startled. That was more than a simple smirk; he could sense malice within his evil smirk.

"They say you're some kind of prodigy; the fact that you blocked my attack is impressive. I'm really not supposed to be here, but oh well."

Alex looked at William, who stared at the Elemental with an unreadable look. He was confused and wondered what this man had accomplished by attacking them here like this today. If he didn't react fast enough, not only him but Alex would have met their end. William didn't know why, but the thought of Alex dying scared him and made him angry.

The Elemental cursed. "That idiot, Adrian is on his way. Listen, if you don't want to die let me go. Is there a reason for you to risk your life?" He asked.

William realized this man knew who he was; his earlier statement proved it. Someone must have told this guy about him. He realized that if this guy's friend was on his way, there was no guarantee he or she would let them walk out of this alive.

He gripped the guy's arm before punching him in the face, his Fiery sword disappearing; he was sent falling back a few feet, and his body rolled against the ground before stopping.

"You fool." The man seethed as he stood up, materializing a fiery sword into his right hand again. "You could have run away; I don't understand, kid. Everyone says you didn't have anything to fight for, yet here you are picking a fight with me."

William knew that he had to fight for him and Alex to walk out of this alive. He had to fight this guy.

'No matter what, I can't let them harm her.' William thought as his body began to slowly crackle with dangerous lightning. The enemy looked surprised as his eyes glowed an electric blue.

Alex widened her eyes. The lightning crackling off of him was very much visible to her. The energy he was gathering was impressive, but she had to wonder. 'What is he, and can he beat that guy?' She thought. 'William.'
