8 The Sorting Hat

Stepping off the train the children are greeted by a hefty bearded half-giant, "Firs' years this way, we'll be taking a short boat ride to get to Hogwarts"

The children follow the man quickly as they need to take several steps when he just takes one due to his size.

They quickly reach the riverbank where they see several rowboats lined up for them, "Only four per boat"

-- Arcturus POV --

Taking the lead, he sits in the nearest boat and is accompanied by Zahid and two girls.

As the boats started drifting into the water by themselves, the children are soon mesmerized by Hogwarts fully lit in the night.

The castle stood the test of time and looked like it could defend itself against an army of monsters.

"AHHH!", hearing a shrieking scream, Hagrid turns his head quickly to the origin of the noise to see a boy with black hair and green eyes undressing until he's wearing nothing but shorts.

The scream he heard was from the two girls on the same quickly covering their eyes.

As Hagrid's about to scold the boy for indecency, the boy dives into the water.

'Fuck this is cold but I've always wanted to see you up close', he thinks as he feels a tentacle rub his cheek.

Swimming down deeper, despite the darkness, he sees an eye larger than his body and gently pets the friendly creature before hugging him.

The giant creature returns the hug gently so he doesn't crush the boy.

'Such a kind-hearted and beautiful creature you are, I'll be sure to visit you again', he thinks with a smile.

With a great splash, the boy appears standing on a large red tentacle with a joyful smile on his face to which Hagrid can only laugh heartily at.

Landing in the boat he was originally in, he dries himself off with a quick spell before getting dressed again.

Once fully dressed and his stoic face is back in place, he steps off the boat and joins the other students that are standing on the steps to see miss McGonagall.

"Follow me in a single line and please stay quiet", She says before turning and walking into Hogwarts.

Walking through the halls with obvious jumpscares from the Hogwarts ghosts, they are guided down the center of the great hall.

As the thinking cap starts singing. Arcturus quickly ignores him.

After a short while, he hears miss McGonagall again, "when your name is called, you will come up and sit in this stool and I'll sit the hat on your head"

The hall becomes quiet as she unrolls a scroll of parchment with names on it.

The first name she calls brings the headmaster's attention and whispers among the students, "Arcturus Black"

Making his way to the stool, the Sorting Hat shouts at him before he can even sit down, "Slytherin"

The Slytherin table erupts into claps and cheering until he sits down and starts shaking everyone's hands.

"Welcome to Slytherin", a rather buff teen says with a crooked smile.

"Glad to be here", he replies with a small but fake smile before watching the other children get sorted.

Since the names are called in alphabetical order, Zahid was called last.

As the caramel-skinned boy sits on the stool, he seems to mutter several things silently.

After long ten minutes, the hat finally shouts, "Slytherin"

As he makes his way to the table, he sees Heir Black nod to him.

He sits next to Arcturus, "Can we chat now?"

The pale-skinned, green-eyed boy makes space for him, "Sure, but I'm not much of a talker"

One of the older boys laugh, "from what I heard from my father that you enjoy talking in Wizengamot meetings"

The boys smile at each other before watching the rest of the sorting ceremony.

No one of worth remained from the new students, turning his head to his new classmates, he sees them all waiting for him to talk.

With a quick sigh, he gives them all his well-practiced smile, "So, anything interesting i should know about?"

[EXTREMELY SHORT CHAPTER, just wanted people to know that the hiatus is over, i don't know about my other novels but i will be continuing this one]
