52 Trip to the Virginia Beach

// THIS IS AN OLD CHAPTER. THE NEW CHAPTERS ARE IN VOLUME 2. YOU CAN READ THESE CHAPTERS IF YOU WANT SOME INSIGHT ON WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN LATER BUT SOME EVENTS CAN BE DIFFERENT BETWEEN THE OLD AND NEW CHAPTERS.

Three weeks have passed since our visit to the MACUSA offices and the president did honor his bill, originally it was 30,000 Galleons, which is already a huge amount when the customer supplied the materials and I was able to keep the remains, but as he proposed I added a zero before leaving it at the reception.

Our company has also received several requests for inventions from MACUSA which wishes to renovate its infrastructure. These contracts are incredibly advantageous, we can keep the patents of my inventions and in exchange, they only ask for an exclusive five-year contract for the marketing of goods in their territory. Basically, they want to make sure they are always one step ahead of their neighbors.

However, it is impossible for me to make everything on my own, I would never have the time to concentrate on so many projects. I can't really rely on the dev office for the magiphone, they're old wizards that specialize in one device, by the time I update them on muggle tech we would have wasted years.

But hey, none of that really matters right now. The first two orders I accepted coincided with two of my current inventions, the teleportation door and the instant mailbox, I would have to find a better name for them, the ones they have for the moment are a bit too long for my taste.

I keep trying to make Emily's spells work, I'm starting to have good results with those that don't require to use candles or other ingredients in order to get power out of them but as soon as you need to use the power of an element, I feel like my heart is going to explode.

I really don't understand why I'm reacting like this, besides the spell that uses candle flames looks simpler than the one that triggers aneurysms in the brain. I thought I could ask Sheila Bennett for advice, but that would be admitting that I am in possession of Emilie's grimoire.

Other than that, everything is calm. I continue to relax and move forward on a number of projects, it's like I've never been gone for two years.

Today, we are going to have a little fun though. My parents take us to Virginia Beach for a bit of sightseeing, at first, they wanted to go through the magical part of town first, but I didn't really want to take a tour of the same wizarding shops that sell the same government-controlled books and I find it hard to see myself looking for and bringing my family to a black magic store.

Suddenly, it became a tourist day with the parents of the children of the city. At the beginning it was only those who came with me the last time then Jeremy invited friends, Caroline did the same, and in the end, it is about twenty teenagers and their parents who come with us to visit the aquarium and lounging on the beach.

We started with the visit to the aquarium, and we all split into small groups, I thought I was going to be all alone when I saw Susan leave with Jeremy but finally it was the trio who came to my rescue. Elena, Caroline and Bonnie are almost always together whenever I see them. We advance following the path indicated on the ground.

"Ho, look at the little jellyfish, they are so cute !!" Caroline is still bursting with energy.

"The eels are pretty cool."

"Yuck, Bonnie! How can you like this thing? It's so scary!"

I let them go into ecstasies over their fish a little and I go to see Elena who is a little apart looking at another aquarium.

"So, and you, which one is your favorite?" Elena gasps, she was so captivated by what she was looking at that she didn't hear me coming behind her back.

"Oh, you scared me!" She turns to continue staring at the sea creatures. "I like turtles, they are quiet, they swim quietly in the ocean. And when they are afraid, they can hide in their shells."

"It is true that they are beautiful."

We continue to watch the turtles go back and forth in front of the glass. As I turn to see where the others are at, I see Caroline and Bonnie sitting on a bench further away making signs of mouths kissing each other with their hands.

"I think your friends would like us to kiss or they are very bad at mimes." Elena blushed visibly.

"I think it's time to join the others." She is already advancing on the path without waiting for me.

"I wouldn't mind kissing you." But why did you say that jerk! You are an adult, control yourself a little.

Elena turns and looks at me before running off to join her friends. They continue their little tour, leaving me alone. Every time I see them looking in my direction, I can see Caroline and Bonnie chuckle to each other.

But what's the matter with me, it's not like me to act like that. There must be something wrong with me.

We finish the visit of the aquarium and we go to the beach. The sea water is pleasant, and the weather is rather mild during this month of August. I pulled out a red and white lifeguard-style swimsuit and hit the water right after putting on the sunscreen. Jeremy and the other boys come in with a ball and we start to play in the water for fun.

When we come back to the beach, I see Tyler bugging Caroline and Elena with a water gun, at first sight nothing really bad but when I heard their screams, I just lost control. I ran faster than a boy my age should have run, and I buried Tyler's head in the sand. I manage to regain control as I feel my body about to transform. What the fuck is this?

I help Tyler up. "I'm sorry, I don't know what got into me."

"What the fuck is your problem Sean."

"I don't know. I'm so sorry." I run to get dressed in the cabins before leaving the beach. I tell my mother that I'm going for a walk in the neighborhood and that she can call me when it's time to leave in a few hours.

It just doesn't make sense; I don't usually react like that. I sit down in a bus stop to think. The only possible reason is that I have an unwanted guest in me.

I close my eyes and sink into my consciousness, deep in my being. What I see should be impossible. The spirit of the wampus cat is still there! Okay, everything is fine, it's still possible to fix the problem. Even though I don't quite understand how he managed to regenerate himself despite the state I left him in, I just have to cut his mind to pieces to finally find peace.

But when I start to touch the wampus cat, a terrible pain immediately stops me.

What is that voice in my head.
