20 The trapped prankster

This morning, it's time to explore the school to prepare a way for me to get home and out of Hogwarts without being seen.

For that, I intend to use a famous cabinet hidden in the school. That way, I can kill two birds with one stone and make sure the deatheaters can't use it to get into school if the situation ever escalates to this point.

I start by going to the library to find a map of the school. I see only a few students studying but no trace of the librarian, that's my luck.

In the library, one of the students who is always present is Hermione. She may be able to help me?

"Hey, Hermione. Are you studying?" She's surprised and raises her head in a hurry.

"Sean! You scared me! Yes, the holidays are coming up, so I take full advantage of the library to read before I have to go back to my parents." She breathes a deep sigh. "The normal world is going to sound horribly bland compared to the magic of this one."

"You think like that because you've just arrived in this world. Give yourself a few years and magic will seem like the most mundane thing in the world." I'm getting lost in my discussions again. "You wouldn't know where I could get a map of the school, I'd like to check something out."

"Oh, you can read <Hogwarts, A History>. I remember there must be a school map inside. There should be a copy in the magic places section next to the book on Stonehenge."

"I'm going to take a look, thank you." I go to the section she told me. It takes me a few minutes to locate the book on the shelves and locate the drawing in the book. According to the books, the first vanishing cabinet must be above Filch's office. After memorizing the classroom position, I put the book back on the shelf and leave the library.

I go to the first floor. And quickly find the right classroom, which is empty. The cabinet was in a corner of the room and appears to be neglected and poorly maintained. After a shrinking charm, I put it in my pocket and head to the room of requirement. I think I need a room to hide the cabinet and when I open the door, I come across a huge room full of damaged objects.

I could spend hours searching through the rubbish of this place and I'm sure I could find some interesting things, like Ravenclaw's diadem or the mirror of Erised. But for now, I'm satisfied to explore this place. I end up finding a good place to hide the vanishing cabinet. A clear area with enough space to put the cabinet down. Since it's Saturday, and it's still early, I can waste a little time looking for the mirror of Erised, I'm curious to see what it will show me.

Normally Dumbledore has not yet taken the mirror out of the room of requirement. After almost 4 days of research, I ended up getting my hands on it.

At first I think I only see my reflection and then the image changes. I am in a large safe, the floor is covered with a mountain of gold while the walls are covered in shelves filled with old grimoires and magical artifacts of all kinds.

Then, it changes again and I see myself older, in a suit in the center of an assembly where all bow before My Greatness, magical creature, vampires, werewolves and wizard.

The image changes again, showing me a palace of red silk and soft cushion where a pile of bodies was piled up in ecstasy. It seems like I'm having the best sex I could imagine. I think I recognize a lot of actresses and models who are actively fucking each others.

The image finally stabilized on my deepest desire, I see myself sitting on the throne of Death, his scythe broken in two in my hands and him kneeling under my heel. When I finally pull myself together, it's already evening. Without realizing it, I spent all afternoon looking at the mirror.

The next day, I still go to the room of requirements. I'm making good progress on my prototype and I think it will soon be functional. In fact, it will record the magic aura of a wizard to be able to call him later on his own magiphone. Later, I plan to try to add the possibility of connecting to the muggle network by adding an electronic circuit in the device so that the back of the magiphone can be used as a normal phone. I'm even starting to imagine a distant future where the magiphone will be able to have a touch screen and applications like a smartphone but we are still very far from that.

As I walk through the doors of the room of requirements, I hear a voice behind my back and a chill runs through me as something passes through my stomach.

"Haha, so this is where you hide from Peeves." The voice of the poltergeist is very annoying.

"Peeves, what do you want?"

"Oh, not much." He looks around and starts flying over my equipment. "What's all this? These looks fun!"

"Peeves, don't touch that! This is the prototype of the device I'm working on! If you keep this up, I'm gonna go get the bloody baron!" I don't know how to handle Peeves. He doesn't obey any logical rules.

"Ho, but Peevy doesn't see the naughty baron. And Peevy wants to play." Peeves leans over my work table and grabs the prototype of the magiphone that is placed there before flying away with it to return to the corridor.

"Peeves! Get back here now!"

I'm going after him. The worst part is that this little piece of shit is waiting for me at every turn to make a fool of myself.

"Sonny is so slow. Peeves could die of boredom waiting for him."

"You can't die, moron! You're not alive!" He's seriously starting to piss me off.

A number of students see me chasing the poltergeist, and quite a few of them mock my distress. The chase ended up taking us to the boys' bathroom.

"Peeves, no more games. Give it back now!"

"Oh, no. Peeves still want to play. What is this?" Peeves touches one of the engraved runes on the back of the crystal that is used as a screen for my device. A little magic flash escapes that scares him quite a bit. "No no no! Wicked magic crystal! In the trash." With those words, he throws my prototype into a toilet and flushes it.

I stare at hours of work being evacuated by the toilet while Peeves is dancing. An anger like I had never felt before takes hold of me. If this little shit wants to play, we will play.

"Carcere spirituum, speculis animarum, complicatum spatium, sola nocte" A blue smoke surrounds Peeves for a few seconds before he dispels it by waving his arms.

"What was that! Peeves doesn't like it! Naughty Seany!" He seems to feel that something is wrong and starts to panic. Good.

"It's a bit of a special spell. But please, flee quickly before its effects appear." Peeves doesn't ask twice. He goes straight to the front door and crosses it. The only problem for him is that he comes out through the wall across the room.

"WHAT'S GOING ON?! WHAT DID YOU DO TO PEEVES?!"

"I just made sure you never come and disturb me again. This room is now your prison. When you try to cross a wall, you will reappear in the room through the opposite wall. I'll leave you here for, let's say, the next seven years. What do you think?"

"NOOOOOOOOOOOO?! I won't bother Seany again, I promise! Free me!"

"Oh no, what you destroyed took me over a month of work where I put in every second of free time I had, so you're going to stay here for a while. But if you're not happy, I can make you disappear forever." I put on my most beautiful grin and the ghost moves back, terrorized, until he meets the wall behind him and reappears behind me." Well, I'll see you in a few years, or when I feel like peeing."

I come out of the bathroom and let Peeves weep over his fate. How sweet is the taste of revenge.

----------POV Albus Dumbledore----------

My office is very quiet today. That is often the case over the weekend, and I am not complaining about that. It gives me time to taste delicious sweets I bought at a muggle grocery store. Little teddy bears of all colours, coated with sugar.

As I'm about to enjoy my first teddy bear, someone is knocking on my door. Sorry, my delicious sugar friend, it'll be for later.

"Come in."

A student opens the door and walks into the room. "Professor! Professor McGonagall asks for you in the boys' bathroom."

In the boys' bathroom? What could have possibly happened?

"What happened, boy?"

"Peeves is locked in the bathroom and he can't get out!"

Peeves is locked up? How can a poltergeist who can cross walls be locked up? I get up and go to the boys' bathroom. In front of the door, I find Minerva and Filius.

"Minerva, what's going on here?"

"Professor Dumbledore, I don't even know how to explain it. The simplest thing would be to see it for yourself." I nod and open the bathroom door to see one of the most surprising shows I've ever seen.

Peeves is projecting himself at full speed on all the walls while reappearing on those opposite. The cry of the spirit resounds in the room and is quite hurtful to my sensitive ears.

"Peeves, what happened to you? Calm down and tell me what's going on."

After a few more trips back and forth. Peeves finally noticed my presence and stopped in front of me.

"It's Seany! He cast a nasty spell on me and I can't leave here anymore!"

"Seany?" I turn to McGonagall, the only downside of being the headmaster is that I don't know the names of all my students.

"He probably means Sean. We only have one Sean in the school right now. It has to be Sean Bones, a freshman." Oh yes, I remember now. The boy I met at Harry's birthday party.

"It was a first year who casts this spell?" Filius looks at the walls in search of the remnants left by the spell.

"Minerva, bring in Sean Bones. It's time we got this whole situation straight."

----------POV Sean Bones----------

I sit quietly in the common room when the ghost of the bloody baron comes to see me.

"Young man, it looks like you've gotten yourself into trouble. The headmaster wants to see you immediately in the boys' bathroom."

I expected that someone would come to see me about that. It's true that the bathroom was not the most discreet place to lock Peeves up. I shouldn't have lost my temper and cast this spell.

"I'll be right there." The Baron nods, satisfied, and leaves.

I need a few minutes to get to the bathroom, but I can already hear Peeves crying as I was down the hall. When I enter the room, Dumbledore, McGonagall and Flitwick are waiting for me.

"Ah, Mr. Bones, we were waiting for you. Are you responsible for the situation that Peeves is stuck in." There's no point in denying it. The whole school knows I went after Peeves while calling him all sorts of names.

"It was me, indeed."

"And what did Peeves did to you to deserve such punishment?" I'm surprised, I expected more screaming and less explanation.

"Well, he stole a device I was working on and when I finally caught up with him, he threw it in the toilet. So I decided to punish him by locking him up here for the next seven years."

"Um, I understand, although I do not approve of such a way. You should have asked a teacher to take care of Peeves. Please release him now." This nasty little shitty poltergeist is really lucky. If it wasn't because Dumbledore asked me to.

"Before breaking the curse. What spell did you cast exactly?" Flitwick approaches me with a puzzled look.

"Oh! It's a bit of a complex old spell. It can only be cast in a room with at least one mirror, like this bathroom. I extended the reflective property to the walls and banned the non-being in a mirror dimension that is in fact a reflection of the room. Peeves is not really here with us. In fact, it is a hologram of him that we see. To undo the curse, just break all the mirrors in the room with a spell and it will free the non-being. It's very old magic."

"Fascinating. It's a very complex spell for someone so young!"

"Yes, yes, Filius. I agree with you. However, it is time to release Peeves now."

I sigh and take out my wand to shatter the mirrors in the room one by one. When the fragments of the last mirror crash on the ground, Peeves finally feels that he is free and runs away from the room as if the devil was after him. "Reparo" I make circular movements with my wand to repairs the mirrors under the astonished looks of the teachers.

"Well, now that it's over. What is my punishment?"

"There will be no punishment this time. We understand that Peeves destroyed something that was very valuable to you and there is no harm done to the school so we will be magnanimous. However, it will not be the same if this kind of situation was to happen again. ' McGonagall looks serious and I know I dodged a bullet this time.
