CHAPTER 15 : YOU ?

" So that's it . The paw print was not recognised ? "

" Unfortunately no . I thought we would get it too when I saw the paw print on the blood . "

" Did you run any other tests . "

" Yes , but no one at the laboratory was able to find something . We informed it to the Werewolf community and they didn't recognise it either . They have told that they would try their best at finding this unknown wolf , but I am not sure if they would actually even try . I mean , we are trying to capture someone from their community . "

" You are right about that , but again we can hope that they would actually try something , anyway I will report this to senior officer Judy as soon as she arrives tomorrow . "

A yawn left Johnathan's mouth as he glanced at the clock .

" Do you want something to drink ? "

" A coffee would help . " Anika spoke as she watched a tired Johnathan slouching .

" I will go get it . " He spoke as he got up from his chair , stretching his arms .

" Thanks ." Anika spoke as the man walked out of her room , closing the door gently . Her mind wandered towards the conversation she had with Tayden .

She had went through his file last day and there was nothing sketchy about him . All sorts of background checks were run , but nothing was found. She had even personally ran some of them and again , she was stuck with nothing that could kick him out of the team .

Tayden was a bit too nosy about what they were doing and she didn't like it and his changed behaviour only made her feel more weirded out by him .

James was capable of giving some great speeches , but was he actually that great to change an entire person's point of view , she was not sure .

Her eyes paced towards the door , as she noticed a silhouette forming on the floor , slowly getting closer .

' Didnt Johnathan close the door ? ' She thought as she carefully took out her knife , the moonlight reflecting off the silver .

Slowly getting up from her chair , she moved towards the door , she could hear the faint breaths coming form whoever was behind the door .

Gulping the saliva that was in her mouth , she trained her eyes on the shadow , ready to attack at the right time .

And almost as fast as she thought she was about to be attacked , the silhouette moved away , slick as a cat , the intruder's footsteps were nowhere to be heard .

Taking a breath , she forcefully opened the door , the knife now pointed at ... Johnathan ?

" Hey . " He spoke as he unconsciously stopped breathing , staring at the knife that almost slashed his neck , one of his hand brought up defensively , the coffee almost spilled all over his shirt .

" C- coffee ." He spoke , stuttering as he raised his other hand showing the second cup of coffee he had brought .

" Shhh ." Anika spoke as she moved the knife away from Johnathan's neck .

" There's someone else here . " She mouthed to Johnathan , who immediately kept his coffee cups down and took out his own knife .

Touching his earpiece , Johnathan warned the rest of the officers present as he observed Anika who walked in front of him .

" Intruder present , not in sight . "

An alarm was sent out immediately as a scan started . The lasers moving around as they scanned for someone who was not supposed to be there .

Walking towards a room nearby , Anika ran in , just in time to see someone jumping out of a window .

Running faster , she looked outside , but there was no sight of any one else . The man had disappeared into the night . Closing the window , she ran back towards Johnathan who was checking out a store room .

" Out . " She voiced out before she ran outside .

This was definitely not the same guy who had murdered Mr , Hayes for sure . An alliance , perhaps .

" YOU ? " Anika shouted as she saw the man who was standing in front of her in cuffs , guns pointed at his head as he stood silently .

Ava pushed her food around in her plate , a million questions bugging her mind .

It had been only a few days since she left , but she couldn't help but worry for Anika .

Anika was reckless . She could promise Ava a gazillion times that she wouldn't be and still something would pop up , which would later prove that she broke her promise .

Even though her consciousness comforted her , telling her that Anika knew how to keep herself safe , she still felt restless .

Death threats and Anika never went smoothly . Ava knew how worried Anika would get , not for her , but for others around her .

Anika would be more scared of others dying more than she would be scared of herself dying , and that makes her half stupid .

" You seem to be in deep thought . " Spoke one of her colleagues as she walked towards her .

" Let me guess , is this about Anika's new case ? " She asked guessing what it was that filled Ava's mind . Anika was the only person Ava kept on speaking about 24/7 .

Ava nodded as she looked at the girl .

" Something keeps on troubling you ? She asked as she noticed the frowns that were etched onto Ava's forehead.

" I just don't feel good about this case . "
