An Auto in Trombay

Yes. I was in the same auto in which was the oldest friend of mine.

We meet in the class 4th for the first time. And have never seen each other since then. I didn't recognize her for the first half of the journey. It was half an hour from when I got in the auto, when her phone rang.

"Hello, Jhansi here", she said. I recalled of that Jhansi, whose father was a police.

"Hello. I am Kudremukh", I said after she hung up the call, "I think I've seen you before". She was dumbstruck for a moment, staring at me. She suddenly burst into laughter, "Is it really you? Did you remember me? ". I nodded my head. "We studied 3rd standard together!", she smiled, "was it 3rd?". "No, it was 4th", I replied. "I never thought I'd get the chance to meet you again!", she said. "Nor did I", I chuckled.

"What's the reason for you coming here?", she asked. "Got to meet a policeman, on order", replied I, "what about you? What brings you here today?". "Me? Oh- I live here now, you know", she told.

We were so happy that we've met again. We cherished all those school memories - the times when I won the sports cup of the school; the times when Parmeshan sir called our parents to inform our mischievous activities; the times when we received an A grade in our exams. "All those times - never come back", she said and I agreed for it was true.

"Godhapet, has come!", informed auto driver, disturbing the conversation.

"I gotta go. Bye!", she asked. Jhansi got off and paid the driver. "See ya", she waved her hand to me, as the auto went forward with only the driver and myself in it. 'I should've taken her number. God knows if we'll ever meet again!' I said to myself.

The auto soon stopped at a big house - the house of the SI of the Trombay region. I got off wondering why he called me. I work as a police too, but not in Trombay. The gate was opened and I knocked on the front door. Someone on the other side opened it and to my surprise, it was Jhansi! Her father was a police of course!
