4 A Wild Bunny Girl Appears

May 6th, the day I met a Bunny Girl in the wild.

I woke up thinking of this as a normal day. It's Sunday. I woke up to have a leisurely day following my routine like normal.

I got out of bed and made some coffee. With my coffee mug in my hand, I decided to bother Sakuta and meet with my beautiful bundle of joy Kaede.

...

Half the day has passed and I'm basically done with my daily routine. I increase self-study by an additional three hours on weekends to keep my schedule straight. Though I do feel like I'm missing something.

On my way home after reaching the apartment building, I run into sakuta who's going to the library to get a book he needs.

"Hey senpai, I'm going to the library to get the book. Do you need me to bring you something?"

"Suspicious, we've been friends for almost a year now and I've never seen you go to the library. What motive do you have?"

"Nothing senpai, I just lost my book and I need to borrow it from the library. You make it sound like I'm hatching some scheme."

"Hey, I've never seen you taking your studies too seriously. I've almost given up on inviting you to my study sessions where you never show up. Now you're suddenly going to the library. Of course, I'm shocked and suspicious."

*Insert surprised Pikachu face.* 'Wait Pokémon doesn't exist in this world. Shit.'

Sakuta looks at me with an impassive face, which I assume is his natural face as far as I've seen.

"Alright, don't worry about it. Tell me the name and publisher of the book and I'll bring it for you. You take care of Kaede."

"But..."

"No buts. I was planning to go there anyway."

He tells me with a sigh, "Fine. Thank you senpai."

I leave with the information about what book I need to borrow while thinking about something else.

'So that's why I keep feeling that something is amiss. I forgot that today is the day that Sakuta encounters Mai in her bunny suit. I can't believe that I almost missed it.'

I reach the library and start to look for the book Sakuta asked me to borrow. I find where it is and leave it with the librarian along with my membership card details, asking her to issue it for me. After that's done I stay there for some time looking for some books that I may want to read while keeping my eyes on the surroundings.

After about 5 minutes of browsing, I notice a black silhouette in my peripheral vision. I turn around. And there she was. I also received a notification from my system, but I ignored it for now.

Her flowing black hair was kept together by a hairpin with a little bunny at the end. Those mesmerizing blue eyes that I could get lost in forever. Wearing a white collar with a black bow tie and white cuffs with golden cufflinks. All of that was complemented by a black playboy bunny suit that left her shoulders and arms bare. She had a little bushy bunny tail that was a part of the suit. She was wearing black stockings and black pump heels which emphasized those legs that I would die for. And for the final touch, she was wearing a headband with bunny ears which gave the outfit such a perfect blend of sexy and cute that I don't think anyone in the world can pull it off. At least not as good as she can.

(A/N: Fuck this took a lot of effort. Describing people is hard guys)

While I was mentally describing her, I kept my face impassive so that I don't look like I'm ogling her like a stalker. Then again I do have some stalker-like tendencies.

I've been fishing for information about her from people in school. Even if it's very subtle, it's there. Fuck, am I a male yandere? I am, aren't I?

While I was going through a mental breakdown, she was walking around trying to get people's attention. Walking by different people reading books in the library, getting close enough that it's definitely uncomfortable for the person involved, but there was no reaction. She even walked up to someone waving in their face but no reaction.

By the time I snapped out of my thoughts, she was sitting on the top of a table right in from of someone and getting no reaction. The first thing I did was sneakily take some pictures of her in the bunny suit. Thank god my phone has the option of silencing the click sound of the camera.

'Hehe, I'll show these to her when I get the chance. I want to see her embarrassed face.' I think while looking at the photos.

'Damn I really am stalking her, aren't I?'

"Fuck," I said out loud and the librarian snapped at me with a shush.

'She's beautiful.'

After that, I think she noticed me looking at her. She walked toward me and stood right beside me, while I kept looking at her with a small smile on my face. She turned to me and her first words to me were, "Wow, you can see me?"

Looking at her face I could see no sign of what she might actually be feeling. Guess she isn't a talented actress for no reason. But still, I could notice a slight quiver in her eyes while asking me that question. She's probably pushing down her anxiety, panic, and maybe a little embarrassment so no one notices it.

I nod at her.

"Are you going to a costume party?" I ask with a little smile on my face.

"No, I'm not. Well, I'm leaving, bye." She says trying to make an escape.

"You're Sakurajima, right? I go to Minegahara High too. I'm a third year in class 3-A"

"You're in my class?" She asks. The tone of her voice left no evidence of her thoughts and feelings.

"Yeah, I'm Masashi. So, what's up with the bunny suit?" I ask.

"You should really use honorifics while talking to people. It seems rude." She says, avoiding my question. I guess she doesn't want to talk about it.

"I don't really have a habit of using honorifics."

"It doesn't matter you shouldn't be rude."

"Fine. Fine. I'll call you Sakurajima-san. Although it's something of a mouthful.". I mumble the last sentence.

"Good."

"Here's a warning: 'Forget what you saw here, and stay far far away from me.'"

"Now that's gonna be difficult with us being in the same class and all."

"Do you understand? Yes or no." She says trying to be a little forceful.

I just keep looking at her with a little smile on my face.

Seeing the look on my face she almost pouts with dissatisfaction. But unwilling to appear slightly vulnerable, instead, she scowls at me and starts walking away. Hiding her feelings and bottling everything up within.

I just watch her leave, with her hair waving and the bunny tail seeming to be swaying with the suit. I whisper emphatically, 'I love you.'

'I'm not really in love with her, it's just my teenager hormones talking.' I tell myself.

After she's out of my line of sight, I borrow some books from the library for myself and go back home.

Reaching the building, I first go to Sakuta's apartment and hand him the book he needed. He thanked me and invited me in. I refused and said that I'll eat dinner with him and Kaede.

I went to my apartment and thought about the wild bunny girl that I met today.

She's gone through a lot of problems and has no friends. With her current situation, she's probably frightened and anxious about everything. She came off as rude and forceful probably because it's a defense mechanism. She's used to dealing with everything alone so she pushes everyone who wants to help away.

'It's fine though. I'll slowly worm my way into her life and regularly talk to her.' I think with a chuckle.

I just realized that I've been smiling ever since I left the library. I guess she'll be a big influence in my life too, huh?

I remember the notification that I got in the library. I open it and see what it was.

[Main Quest Chain Unlocked] (NOTE: This is a chain quest that will go on until the gamer leaves this world.)

[Main Quest: Help the Wild Bunny

You have encountered a supernatural situation. Help Mai with the problems that she is facing.

Objective 1: Help Mai fix her problem.

Objective 2: Find out information about Puberty Syndrome and its possible causes.

Reward: 1,000,000 EXP, Martial Arts Mastery LVL 1, Academics Mastery LVL 1, ???

Penalty: Mai will be sad]

I guess the quest system really is based on my subconscious thoughts.

The skills will probably be extremely useful. Martial Arts Mastery will probably help me learn new martial arts quicker and incorporate the ones I've learned already into a single skill. This will probably make it easy for me to develop my own fighting style.

Academics probably also serves a similar purpose but for information and studying. This will help a lot since I have 30 different skills related to this which will merge into one and start providing me with a comprehensive boost. I don't want my skill panel to look too cluttered so I hid those skills. This will be very good.

After looking through the system, I got back to my schedule and by the time I was finished, It was time for dinner.

I went to Sakuta's, made dinner for the three of us, and then played around with Kaede for a little while. I think Kaede might be my own comfort dog or well panda, I guess. No matter what thoughts are going on in my head, spending time with her just always seems to lighten me up.

After that, I went home and dropped onto my bed. ready for the next day.

==========

A/N:

I won't write the status at the end of the chapter anymore, It's a pain, and I might end up copying from the wrong chapter and end up showing the wrong status or something. Instead, I'll just show the stats when it really matters. I'm not really planning to focus too much of the story on the system. At least in the first volume.

For now, I'm going to focus on the slice-of-life aspect and write a mellow story with wholesomeness. Basically, the first volume is going to be a whole lot of puppy love. I'll do the action and adventure from the second world when things actually get big. For now, I'm just going to give the MC and FMC some character development.
