UNKNOWN POV

I couldn't see anything except darkness, and there was a shocking buzz traveling through the air, going up and down my person. I had to suppress the urge to shout.

Thankfully, my flailing arms rewarded me with a handful of thick fur. The hound was still beside me, that was something at least, even tho I couldn't see it.

The loopy, mystic traveling however came to an abrupt halt as everything shuddered unfriendly around me, causing my balance to rely wholly on the beast, who seemed unaffected. The glowing circle flickered its presence about once or twice before shattering completely under an unseen impact.

My breathing became difficult and I was met with nothing but a rushing wind and vertigo. The wind carried my arms above my head and positioned my body horizontally, gravity soon sent me plunging speedily down towards the earth.

I fought through my brief disorientation and forced my lids open to a stinging, raw rush of air biting into my eyeballs. Once the light had set in I could roll my head side to side, trying to get at least some bearings.

The only thing approaching below was a sprawling array of island and sea, greenery and blue. The green lands held some spiring towers, but so did the bottom side of some, jutting towards the unseen depths as if it were a perfect, inverse reflection.

Something however, led me to believe differently. Maybe it was the short experience of encounters I'd, well, encountered already that permitted my mind to believe the underwater reality.

But it wouldn't matter anyway, I guess. I would know in about four seconds...

I closed my eyes shut, forced through the assailing wind and gaped a lungful of oxygen and waited for an unfriendly, unforgettable impact. I got just that.

The liquid impact of the water, unfortunately, felt very much as solid as ground. Maybe even more solid. The shockwave didn't have much room to cover as it had already met with my entire frontal, leaving only my rear for it to travel to and back like a torture-rigged elevator.

I almost released a strained shout of agony, but remembering my oxygen-deprived situation, a silent scream would have to compensate. The next event that followed was kaleidoscopic. A new, very unfamiliar work of gravity manifested.

Instead of sinking downward I felt like I was floating upwards as my still-closed lids went into disorientative vertigo. And opening my eyes confirmed it.

Once I could push through the thick blurriness I could indeed see that what I perceived as down had somehow pushed itself to become up and vice-versa. It was as if I was upside-down, with just a few inches separating my feet from the water's surface, and my head, though upright, was pointed into the dark blue abyss.

I almost instinctively reached for my side only to find the hound completely missing, and in its place, a speedy blur zooming by. Now this territory brought a new fearful feeling, the fact that I tried swimming up, only to end up going down, and the fact that I was quickly running out of air at the mercy of whatever was lurking at the edges of my vision.

A pair of rough hands suddenly placed themselves on both sides of my face, firm fingers delving into my hair and taking root. Something about that touch felt warm in the cold surroundings and summoned me awake again, now facing a topless humanoid with skin tinted blue, blue enough to be detected separately from the blue of the water itself.

My eyes adjusted and I could see the warmth was emanating from this person's mouth, providing a steady, white mist. Something about their eyes, as they continued blowing, made me to understand that I was, at least I hope I was, supposed to breath this in.

My brows knitted. Sure I've seen weird things so far, flaming trees, flaming dogs, flaming hands, sure that was too much flame for me in one week, but now this? Inhaling mist? Even a crackhead would find that phrase stupid.

As if spotting my doubtful thoughts, a calm took on their iridescent pupils followed by a slight nod. Not sure if that was any confirmation or successful convincing but I had less that little choice here.

Letting out my last sigh, and maybe hope, I actually sucked in fresh oxygen, no different from the surface. Not only that, but the rushing sounds of water that wouldn't let my ears pick up any sound also stopped completely, making me assume for a second that I was actually on land.

I looked around in marvel, noting that the mist had engulfed my entire head, gently swimming but never leaving.

"You can also speak with that on." The voice of my saviour came clearly like a melodious tune, sounding like it was on the verge of a song but never quite singing. It was almost disappointing not hearing them sing.

A closer examination let me see a young-looking male, skin tinted with a light turquoise hue and eyes that seemed to carry a different colour under each passing gleam. His torso was indeed bare and I could see why his hands felt rough. His finger tips held intricate scales running down to disappear along his forearms.

His hair was in the darkest shade of blue or obsidian-black, dancing in a halo above and around his head against the currents. And finally, as I'd come to guess, his legs were not legs, but a long, swift, elegant and blue-green tail, curving with the very tressy tips closest to his waist. His entire demeanor and body language was in tune with the water, fluid as the sea. Whereas I had to flail about every second to keep myself from capsizing in this upside-down, downside-up space.

I should have gone into shock by now from such an unfamiliar sight, from everything that's happened to me so far. But hell. I was getting more curious than ever with every new encounter.

"Where am I?" I asked through sheer curiosity.

"You've decided to visit the merfolk, I see." Came the reply. "Although I have to admit, this isn't usually how you decide to make an entrance, Carlisle."

Carlisle... Carlisle...

The name went in different directions in my head, soon everything went dark again.

A/N That's all for now, see you guys next week... Hopefully 👋🏾 😁
