20 Traveling

In a fancy restaurant with a view of the entire city as the half-moon hangs in the sky, the sky has a touch of purple color to itself with only a few dashes of clouds.

You can see the skyscrapers below from this height of the restaurant, the dark glass of the buildings opposite where the business is conducted.

The table was set with a white cloth with white glass, and waiters dressed in a neat, professional black tuxedos.

The restaurant didn't have guests since Jon had already booked the entire restaurant for the day.

Jon is sitting right to Samantha, with Jeanette sitting opposite as they eat the many cooked dishes in front of the table.

While grabbing a bit of something from a dish with her fork Jeanette asked them with curiosity seeing how Jon is helping Samantha cut a piece of meat on her plate before feeding it into her mouth, "Why do I feel like you guys are keeping something from me?"

Hearing that Jon gives a light smile before placing his hand on top of Jeanette's hand, and looking into her eyes for a second, "We are planning on traveling to Paris the next day."

"Paris?!" Jeanette stopped chewing the mouthful of food in her mouth, "You didn't tell me that."

Exchanging eye contact with Jon, Samantha answered her, "When we were at the hospital, I promised that I would come with him to trip over there. I'm going to be putting my classes on indefinite hold."

When they were at home in the countryside, Jon remembered how Samantha told her once that she had always wanted to visit Paris and to have a day walking around the city.

She was surprised that he mentioned bringing her there at the hospital one day; he told her he had already bought an airplane and an entire hotel for their trip.

Hearing that, Jeanette smiled warmly, looking at the happy couple, "I'm happy for you, Samantha."

She thought about how she would watch movies with Samantha together during those nights, horror movies, romance movies, and comedy movies.

It is always sad to see a friend go, but when she thinks about how Samantha would be joining Jon on a long adventure, she feels happy for her friend; she could see in her mind those views that Samantha would tour and send to her on her travels.

Using a white napkin to wipe the corner of her mouth Samantha smiled at her friend, "Well, you don't have to be sad; Jon invited one of his friends for you."

"A friend?" Jeanette was surprised on her face upon hearing that news, "You set up a blind date for me here?"

"He's going to come here in a second; Samantha already met him," Jon said, lifting Samantha's hand as they stood up from their seat together.

Coming out of her seat from sitting close to the window, Samantha said one last word before she departed hand in hand with Jon, "He a great guy. I know you would like him. He's your kind of guy...Plus, he's also..."

At the end of the sentence, Samantha rubs her thumb and index finger together to imply that this friend of Jon's is also a wealthy dude.

Instantly this made Jeanette overcome with joy, "The least I can do, Jeanette. Come, let's go now. Sean will arrive soon; we should leave them before the whole room is full of their flirting."

Holding onto Jon's hand, the both of them depart, as Samantha gives Jeanette a wave of goodbye to wish her good luck on the blind date.

As they were in the elevator together from the building, Samantha turned to ask him, "How did you meet Sean, by the way?"

The elevator was quiet inside the two of them, with the walls in a tile-like pattern, "Well, he was the one I purchased the hotels from in this city."

She smiled, she was just curious, and the answer didn't matter to her, "I think Jeanette will have a fun night tonight."

He looked into her eyes and understood immediately what she was implying to him with her eyes watching him in that manner, "Well, we can always have some fun ourselves tonight if you want to."

Seeing that mischievous smile on his face made Samantha smile widely as she hooked her arm around him in the elevator and gave him a lingering kiss on the lips lightly.

The elevator doors then opened as they reached the bottom of the building, and they walked out together.

She thought back to those nights before Jon suddenly appeared out of thin, blowing her life with new fascinating colors.

She thinks she will miss those nights as she and Jeanette would talk endlessly at night while eating popcorn or going for walks around the city on the weekends and eating good food at restaurants.

Those times they would talk about the future and what it would have in store for them, playing an imaginary game as though they were already in possession of their future life and acting out according to their future selves with their perfect lives in order in a friendly union.

Some things she would miss, knowing that time was ticking away when she was with her best friend celebrating the holidays together.

Seeing that she seems to be in some thought, Jon holds to her tighter as they arrive in front of his car, which the valet has parked in front of the building's entrance as the keys are handed back to him.

"Each part of life is an adventure and a chapter," Jon says to her with a warm smile, "these memories will always be with you. Now it is time to create new memories and a new adventure."

He was pointing with his finger directly to her heart.

These words woke her up from her inner reflection, "Yeah, I still have you."

As she was about to sit in her seat when Jon opened the door for her, he looked her deep in her eyes and said, "Samantha, you are stronger and courageous than you think you are. I will always be here. People you love are never gone. Their love for you and your love for them will always live on in your heart wherever you go and in life."
