2 Ever-waiting [2]

Once the snow stopped it gained consciousness.

The shadow looked at its own hands, wondering what it is, it could feel the memories of others inside of it, from what he can tell, it includes 77 peoples memories.

' Who am I '

The little girl looked at the shadow, and grabbed its previously metaphysical hands, " We have to leave. "

The shadow looked at the girls hand and followed along as always, ' These are my memories. '

It intrinsically knew that it had been born to be blank, a creature with the thoughts of a creature, to obey and follow, but it for some reason could think, ' I can feel ', the shadow like mucus it was encased in melted faster.

As it was led along it continued to surf these memories that were not his, he did not find out much about where he was though, because this was a prison. There were numerous towns in what they call the dead zone, but only one real place to run to, Fort Joy. These towns were started by the exiled prisoners that the nation thought was good to exile instead of waste resources on them in jail, but many of the villagers were born here, but in a nation like this, even their descendants end up stuck here to live their lives, even the family in the tower, the father and mother were exiled by here by her family for betraying them to marry a commoner. It was about to keep thinking but the girl tripped and ended up staying on her feet from the support of his arm.

In just a two hours they had made it back to the village, the girls legs were shaking even with the thick clothes she wore, but seeing the scene of all of the houses buried by snow, the only building left is the collapsed remnants of the tower , she collapsed to her knees.

The shadow looked down at her and surfed its memories, ' Charlotte ', it reached its shadowy hands over her head but before he could feel her head she looked up at the hand and cried at the darkness she saw within, as she looked longer blood started to come out of her eyes as she tried with all her might to close them.

The shadow retracted its hand as soon as it noticed the issue, the little girl wailed from the pain, soon she collapsed and rolled in the snow covering her eyes with her hands and retracting her legs and kicking them out rapidly to dull the pain.

The shadow looked at the ice wall and remembered from his memories that trees were frozen within from time immemorial, he watched the girl for a minute before he seemed to shift through the snow and arrive at the towering ice wall that went so high it was out of human view, but the shadow could see it, the ice curved at the top, like a massive frozen tsunami.

As the shadow walked closer and closer to the wall, it reached its hand the black mucus splashed and molded to a splotch on the ice, but the shadow kept walking, when its body fully merged, all that was left behind was black sludge on the snow and on the ice wall.

But soon from a within a human body was being ejected from the ice, followed by a massive ancient tree, the black sludge stuck to him as he walked out, it stuck to the hair and skin of the man, he made his way back to the girl and she was still in the snow wailing, but her arms were shivering from not moving.

The log dropped behind the man and he turned around, the snow picking up from the ground to form into a blade in front of him, the blade quickly descended and cleaved through the wood making slabs of wood one after another, the slabs seemed to pick themselves up and lodge themselves into the ground.

After a while of staring at the wood, the girl seemed to have ran out of screams and tears, and was simply laying exhausted with her hands over her eyes in the snow, taking the que it walked over and led her by her elbow to the wood and rubbed it against it.

" What is this.... wood? "

The man rubbed her elbow, and she nodded to herself, " You want me to light it? ", she could feel her elbow being rubbed again, so she soon got her head right next to the wood and flipped her palm, to have the back of her hand cover her eye. Soon the snow around them was pulled near her hand and it converged into a small white flame that she kept moving her head to try and get it onto the wood. Soon she lost the fire from her hand and she stopped to sit down and wait for the fire to spread.

The man simply stood a few inches away and watched, after seeing the scene he to try to converge snow in his hand, which he could do, but he couldn't turn it into a fire.

He studied the girl and stayed that way till she fell asleep, in which he then sat down next to her and watched the tree-lines, ever-waiting.
