Winter Leaf

The Winter Leaf is a three-day event in which any unclaimed Omega is to take place in, whether they like it or not. Tradition states that each Alpha without an Omega must also take part in. For the first day each Alpha and Omega are to meet. No fighting is to commence at this time; it is simply a meet-and-greet. Alphas usually tend to pick out Omegas that they like during this first day. The second day is the day of claiming. It is known as the "Fight or Flight" day where Alphas will battle to be the first to claim their chosen Omega. The third and final day of the Winter Leaf is the day where the claimed Omegas will say goodbye to their friends and family as they are moving to live with their Alpha. George happens to be one of the very rare male Omegas. No one has heard nor seen a male Omega for over two years, making him quite the prize. Despite this newfound attention, George wants nothing to do with the event, leading him to have mixed feelings about it. Dream is the son of the strongest Alpha ever known to have competed in the Winter Leaf tournament. Because of his legacy, his father expects the best- and only the best, nothing less of it. Dream's father wants him to grow up to become as strong as he is to carry on their legacy. He has no choice but to fight for the rare male Omega, or who knows what his father will do?

Chapter Five | Running

~George's P.O.V~

I glared at the Alpha next to me, annoyed.

"Are you going to be angry with me forever? I didn't even do anything to you."

But he did. I was fine without him, I was happy. I growled, getting up. He followed like a lost puppy. Turning, I bared my teeth and curled back my lips in a snarl. "Go away."

"Um, no. You can't just walk away from me!" He protested angrily.

The last time I checked, that was exactly what I was doing. He grasped my arm, halting any movement.

"Let go!" I groaned, trying to get free from his tight grip.

"No! I am your Alpha, and you will listen to me!"

I was finally able to free my arm from his grasp. "I don't have to listen to anyone!"

He growled, pushing me against the wall. "Listen- and you better listen well- you will listen to me, or I'll guarantee to make your life a lot more difficult and hellish than it already is."

Though scared, I refused to let it show.

"You understand, Omega?" After not responding to him, he shook me. "Do you understand?!"

I gulped as he growled. "Yes, I understand."

He released his grip. "Are you afraid of me, Omega?"

"I-"

He flashed his glance. "Don't lie to me, I can smell the fear all over you."

Of course, stupid Alphas and their powerful sense of smell. "I'm fine!" I snapped at the large Alpha.

He smirked. "It's okay, you should be frightened of me. That's what makes this so fun."

"Can you just leave me alone?" I grumbled, shoving past the Alpha.

He sighed, allowing me to walk away. "Would you like me to calm you down?"

Something in me wanted nothing more than to be calmed by him, or for him to calm down, but I refused my natural instinct. "I'm fine, I can take care of myself. And I can handle you just fine."

He gave out a deep sigh. "Suit yourself." As he was walking away, I felt I didn't want him to go.

I grabbed his arm, letting out a slight whine. "Come here." I buried my head into his chest. Letting out a deep sigh, I let the Alpha calm me. I could smell the calming sent the Alpha had let out. It was a sweet honey, mixed with a slight smell of dark chocolate.

He rubbed my back. "I'm sorry I scared you." I mumbled into his chest making my words incoherent.

I pulled back once calm and he smiled sweetly. "Dinner?"

I gave him a death stare. "Hell no."

He frowned "Isn't that what you do?"

I growled, "No, I'm not a female Omega; I'm not cooking you shit."

He let out a low growl. "Fine, looks like you aren't eating." He stomped away.

I sighed, sitting back down on the couch. This is how things are going to go now, me cooking and carrying useless pups.

I walked to the Alpha's door, knocking lightly. "Can I go on a run?"

He looked up from where he sat. "I guess, but I'm coming with you."

Of course, overprotective.. "Fine," I grumbled. My favorite thing to do in my free time is to run, so I was going to take every chance I could get.

He followed me to his backyard which had a large forest. I shifted, shaking my coat. "Try to keep up!"

I started through the trees, my paws thrumming over the forest floor, leaving little tremors where they had hit. I kicked up leaf mold and tore past ferns, relishing the feeling of the wind through my brilliant pelt.

I could hear Clay steadily approaching. A quick side glance told me that he was gaining on me. "You're a little slow back there, Omega!" I sprinted harder, trying to pass the large Alpha, but as soon as I had caught up, he accelerated into a faster sprint.

"Slow down!" I called breathlessly. He simply laughed to himself.

He did not ease up until I was letting out staggering breaths. I flopped down, my chest heaving. Clay stood over me, panting. "Run out of breath?" He shook the snow from his gray coat. "Yeah. I didn't... know you were so fast!" I huffed between breaths.

He laughed, his barking cry echoing around the forest. "Yeah, I do a lot of running. You weren't bad though; you kept up for quite some time."

I glared at him, offended. "You let me catch up," I snapped, getting up once I had caught my breath. We started back, setting a brisk pace.

"Still, you're not bad," he insisted.

When we got back to the house, I was exhausted. I collapsed onto the couch, feeling my eyelids drift shut. Clay called from the bedroom. "Come on, time for bed"

I rolled my eyes, groaning. "Not. Happening."

Before I was able to walk away, he swiftly picked me up and began to drag me toward the bedroom.

"Hey! Let me down!" I yelped, struggling.

He shook his head. "Nope."

He carried me over to the bed, plopping me down. I was about to scramble away but he grabbed me and hugged me against his chest.

"Let me go!" I hollered.

He shook his head. "Not happening," he mocked me with my own words. I struggled in his grasp.

"Calm down, it's okay," Clay hushed me.

Knowing there wasn't a chance I would get out, I relaxed into his arms. I let out a deep sigh, I was too tired to really care- plus it was strangely comforting.

I didn't know I was missing something until I was in Clay's comforting arms. It didn't change the fact that I didn't want pups, but it made this whole situation bearable. What I wanted was his warmth... Or warmth in general.

-

I woke up, snuggling close against the Alpha. I would have jumped out of bed, but I didn't want to. Maybe I stayed because it was warm? Am I too tired? Or is it just that I don't want to wake the arrogant Alpha.

The Alpha stirred. "Good morning, George."

I grumbled looking up at the Alpha. "Can you let me go now?"

He released his grasp wordlessly, allowing me to get up. I lifted the covers, slipping out of bed.

"Breakfast?"

I gave a deep sigh of resentment. "Fine."

I walked into the kitchen, snatching the pancake mix off the shelf. He's going to get pancakes no matter what he wants. I grabbed a bowl, some eggs, and a liquid measuring cup and set them down on the counter. Then, I turned to the stove and yanked out a skillet, slamming it down onto the stovetop and flipping the heat knob on.

"Hey, be gentle!" I heard Clay call from the bedroom. He sounded irritated, but I was far more annoyed with him to care.

I prepared the mixture, cursing quietly when I dropped an eggshell in the mix. Grabbing the prepared bowl of batter, I scooped out some and dropped the mix onto the skillet. I waited until the batter began to sizzle and grabbed a spatula, flipping the cakes over to let them cook more.

Once the pancakes were finished, I turned to glare at the bedroom door. Lazy Alpha, making me do everything.

I yelled over at the Alpha. "I made pancakes! You better eat them!" The alpha walked in, smiling. Briefly, he glanced over the messy kitchen, scanning the counter for broken items. "It smells amazing!" He finally spat out.

I glared at him, snagging a plate and picking a few hotcakes off the platter. Clay looked at me expectantly. "Get your own plate," I snapped, dropping the final hotcake onto my plate. He chuckled, grabbing a new plate.

We sat in complete silence and stillness eating our pancakes. The Alpha sighed, breaking the peaceful quiet. "When's your heat?"

Fury washed over me. Of course he asks this, but there's no way I'm answering.

"George?" He asked again, leaning forward to try and snag my gaze.

"Why would I want to tell you that?" I hissed, turning to finally meet his gaze.

"I hate to break it to you, but you are an Omega, you are going to carry pups."

I was infuriated. "No! I will not!" I shouted, dropping my fork and slamming my fist down onto the counter.

Though I was saying that, it was bound to happen...
