Chapter 2- Finding out the truth

It did not take me long on my specially made motorcycle to reach the Diogenes Club that the date would be happening in. I got off of my bike and walked into the club, easily spotting Kara, who wore a leather jacket, jeans, and a black blouse, with her hair done up in a wavy style. I walked up to her table and said "Hey Kara."

She looked at me for a moment before saying in disbelief, "Winn, what are you doing here?" I scoffed, "Kara, I've been trying to ask you out on a date for more than a year. At every time you either interrupted me before I could fully let the words out or made nonsense excuses to say no. Kara, we both know that I like you, so the only question to ask is do you want to start this date or do you want to do what you normally do?" I asked her, fed up with her non-answers and aversions.

She gave me a pensive look before sighing and gestured toward the seat with her hand. I wildly smiled at her, pulling the seat back and sitting down. "So how is this supposed to go?" she asked.

I tilted my head, "what do you mean?"

"You clearly had a plan, so how is this supposed to go?" She asked me, clearly pissed at me. Maybe I should not have jumped the gun, regarding this. Well, in for a penny, in for a pound.

She got up out of her seat and walked out of the club, angry at me. I followed her out, into an alleyway near the club.

I took her by the forearm, stopping her from walking away from me. She turned to look me in my eyes, I could see a sheen of hurt there. I had caused that. "Look Kara, I'm sorry. I did not go about this the right way. I'm sorry that I invaded your privacy. But you have to understand, you have been repeatedly ducking me asking you out for a year and a half. I felt that if I did not do this, you would never go out with me."

As we stood in the alleyway, the hustle and bustle of National City seemed to become even louder. "I didn't let you ask me out, not because I did not like you or was trying to lead you on. I do like you, a lot but I just… There is something about me that I can't tell people. If you knew about it, you wouldn't want to date me."

Her eyes slightly glazed over and her ears perked up. She looked into the sky, where a plane was racing through the sky, one of its engines on fire. "Alex!", she muttered. "Damn it! I guess that I will be showing who I am, what I am after all."

She dropped her glasses from her face, throwing her clutch to the ground, along with her jacket. She then began running through the alley. She jumped, the act taking her a few feet from the ground. When she came back down, she stumbled before taking another leap into the sky, this time a successful one.

"So, she finally shows her Kryptonian side." I said to myself.

I pressed a button on my watch and my clothes lit up in a gray glow before transforming. I now wore a skintight bodysuit. The suit was a dark blue color with a black hoodie and a cloaking film built into the hooded area of the hoodie. It would obscure and protect my face from those that would want to see it but also allow me to see through it. Its face held the symbol of three interlocked rings in a triangle formation.

I smiled and jumped into the sky, following Kara's flight path. I watched Kara tank the engine that was on fire. It cut up her clothes and colored them with its smoke. I could see the marks on her.

I flew down onto the street, protecting the people from the debris. I generated a forcefield and occasionally speeded away people that couldn't fit in the force field.

When debris came crashing down from the sky towards a little red-haired girl, I waved my arm towards it. The action caused an intense wind to fly from my arm. It hit the debris and moved it away from her.

Once I was sure that little girl was safe, I flew back into the sky. I flew onto the top of the plane, holding it up in safety, with Kara digging into the plane below, and guiding it. Together, we turned the plane sideways, saving it from a collision with the Otto binder bridge.

Kara and I had saved the plane, the bridge, and hundreds of people. As she carried the plane into the water, I looked over the people on the bridge, making sure that no one was hurt.

I used my powers of transmutation to bind the parted concrete together and fix the rails of the bridge. I looked over the people to make sure that everyone was safe. Fortunately, because everyone on the bridge had seen the plane, they had avoided the plane's wing from harming them.

I heard the camera flashes and saw people taking pictures and videos on their phones. I allowed it for a few minutes before jumping into the sky, forcing the wind to carry me, and flew away.

I flew back to the alley, where Kara had left me in. I scoped it out to make sure that no one would see and pressed the symbol on my suit.

The suit glowed, in a gray tone, before changing back into the clothes that it had transformed from.

I stood there for twenty minutes, waiting for Kara to come back so she would not look suspicious as no one would think that she disappeared from the alleyway. After that, I rode home, shaking my head at Kara's lack of forethought in protecting her identity but then I had another thought. Kara had flown into the sky and left me there, as she thought that the man, she liked romantically would be disgusted at her not being human.

As soon as I got home, I went to sleep, now knowing the truth. That Kara does like me and wants to date me. It filled me with excitement and happiness that all I had to do was tell her the truth and we could finally be together.

Tomorrow, I would go to Cat Co. and Kara and I would speak about what she had shown me.
