1 Ch. 1 Goodbye

The sun was beating down on my eyes and the sand shifted under me when I rolled away. A soft splash turned on all my alerts. Algae was trying to wake me up for school today, but she wasn't going to get what she wanted. I felt her breathing along my neck and took the chance to strike. I grabbed her next and rolled her underneath me. "GAH!?" She yelled. I smiled as the sun beat down on me. I wanted to go for a swim to get his heat out from my scales. I crawled off Algae and slipped more silently then her into the water. Since the war was over I didn't have to worry about being caught. Last night Algae, Aqua, Seacucumber, and me all decided not to tell the Queen yet. Aqua and Seacucumber are the dragons who saved me. They also raised me which led to me being Algae's technical sister. Poor Algae. I'm always hitting my snout on stuff, and Algae says hanging out with me makes her a clumsy sea snake. We once got captured by the Icewings, but Frozen was there to bust us out. We decided it would be cool to cave together, and we also have the same winglet. Apparently we were transferred so we have another winglet. We are now officially called Ruby Winglet. Princess Tsunami decided to teach both winglets! That was so nice of her. Our winglet has Desertstone, the Sandwing, Twilight, the Nightwing, and Frozen is our Icewing. We have some others me and Algae don't know. Twilight is very sweet, and she tries her best to stay out of our minds. Twilight is Algae's mother, Seacucumber is her father. Algae has dark teal scales and black wings. If you look closely, her underwater lights have white scales surrounding them. Naturally, she would be discarded, but her beauty makes up for it. Not to mention she is also an amunis. Being an amunis is very hard for Algae, even the stories are hard. Partly because we can't read as well, mostly because the stories include murder and souls. Algae cast her first real spell on me. She enchanted my ruby earring to be immune to any magic. She suggest ruby so it would be harder to notice. Her next spell was her ring, she enchanted the same spell on it. To protect her soul, she enchanted a pearl, which she stuck in her tongue for safe keeping. Being half Nightwing affected her body shape, like how she doesn't have any webs in her front talons. She has webs in the back, but not the front. Algae doesn't have many friends, so meeting Frozen was probably the best thing ever to happen in her life. Twilight tried to tell her that Frozen liked me and not her but she didn't listen. I told Frozen I couldn't accept his feelings and he should try Algae, he didn't. Frozen decided to like me from a distance. Poor Frozen... The story of knowing Desertstone is dramatic. We all laughed and laughed afterwords. Desert got mad at me for calling her Desertstone. She prefered Desert, and tried to kill me for many reasons. Mainly the name. I did say dramatic, didn't I? Either way, after I swam around for a bit, I went back to Find Twilight and Frozen waiting for us. "We've been here forever! Where is she!?" Twilight stormed about the island shouting. I swam up to the shore and growled in Twilight's face. "She's right here." I said. Twilight laughed nervously and backed up into Algae. "Hey watch it!" She shouted. Frozen walked up to me and smiled. "Twilight suggested we fly to school together. I pulled some strings and got to cave with you guys. Apparently three dragons was a limit. WAS." Frozen whispered just barely over his breath. We've only known Frozen for 8 months. We talked about the crush 3 months ago. This is now our final result. Twilight coughed and I looked over to see Algae drooling with her head stuck in a cloud. Twilight's cough set her straight. "Slimy squid guts! Let's get moving guys!" Algae shouted and took off. Twilight shot me an apologetic look and flew after her. I sighed and spread my wings, Frozen took a sharp inhale. Each wing flap was another inhale as Frozen watched me fly higher and higher. When he finally snapped out of it, he spread his wings as well. At this sign, I took off as fast as I could to catch up. When we all landed at what looked to be an entrance, Desert greeted us as Twilight winced. "Headache?" I asked her, walking over. Twilight nodded and sighed. She reached into a small pouch she wrapped around her wing. A small blue rock was pulled out. I took a closer look and saw it had a hole around the top of it. Twilight put the rock over a spike on her neck. When she put her head back up, the rock almost completely disappeared. "Woah..." I said in awe. Twilight chuckled and explained, "Algae made this for me, it makes all the thoughts become whispers. I can still hear them, but I don't get a headache!". I laughed with her until I ran out of air. Algae looked at us confused then rolled her eyes and smiled. Tsunami herself- HERSELF- showed up to greet us! I was so excited I started shaking. Twilight put her wing over me and I calmed down. "Hello dragonets! These are your clawmates, Swamp and Palm. Let me show you to your caves." Tsunami said. A big Mudwing came out from behind her with a Rainwing. Palm, i'm guessing, was covered in various shades of pink and purple. Twilight stared at her. The poor Rainwing ducked her head and was covered in a dark purple. Twilight looked down with worry. I huddled closer under her wing and smiled. Twilight relaxed a bit and smiled weakly. I wish we didn't have to leave. I wish we didn't have to say "Goodbye"...
