KATRINA’S P O V
''Why?'' Travis asked, still down on one knee, kneeling at my feet. In his eyes was the transparency of glass, they mirrored his heart and his soul. ''Are you worried about your ex-husband?''
It was unnecessary for me to respond to his inquiry because he was able to determine the answer by looking directly into my eyes.
But to my surprise, he laughed, throwing his head back before he slowly got to his feet.
''You're laughing at me?'' I asked, my pupils drew together as I glared angrily at him. ''Are you making fun of me, Travis? Do you have any idea how much pain I am experiencing right now?'' I poked at my left chest, my eyes started to pool fresh tears. ''The fact that I want to accept your proposal, but I can't because I'm still married to him is so painful that I can't even begin to express how much it's killing me. And here you are laughing at me!''
He watched me with amusement, his eyes dancing with happiness upon hearing what I had just said.
