"Commander, we are out of explosive ammunition"

"Everybody, hold your fire, our work here is done.", I looked down at the burning area, engulfed in tall flames.

Though the main skyscraper didn't really seem explosion-proof at first, but still the damage was considerably low there, I don't know why.

Also, strangely, the explosives seemed to explode even before impact. But seeing the fire still intense and alive, I overlooked that anomaly.

"Do a re-scan for vital signatures. After confirming, we'll report back."

"Umm, sir, the scan still shows six live heat signatures."

"What? Check it again" I was irritated now.

"Yes sir, I already confirmed the scan many times, it's still showing 6 live biosignatures"

'I was mad now. How are they still alive? Are they from a thermal-resilient species? It's so troublesome! I wasn't told it was such a high-level mission.'

I was planning on how to kill the remaining occupants when my teammate fearfully said.

"Commander! Are you seeing this?",

And it stupefied me to find the flames completely extinguished. A pink layer enveloped the entire area.

My brain was in panic mode, my senses told me something was very wrong, and as a safety measure, I called the mother ship;

" Bzzzz...Tooooot"

Fuck! They still haven't unmuted the coms. We have to return and report all of this, immediately.

"Everybody, we are return-", I wasn't even finished spelling my order when my senses proved right.

"Boom!!"

"Boom!!"

Our team's two spacecrafts were instantly destroyed as I saw the third one crashing down into the pink shield.

"Boom!!"

I quickly maneuvered my spaceship out of the incoming missile trajectory. But the only mate still alive wasn't as successful, struck by two missiles, his spacecraft exploded midair.

"Boom!"

Confirming no chance of anyone being alive, I went straight for the outer orbit.

'I saw nothing on my radar. What exactly attacked us? I didn't even have the time to see where the missiles were coming from!'

Zooming through the air, I used every maneuver I had learned in my training, changing my direction every moment to avoid any possible hits. Extremely scared; my body was shaking.

" Just a little more, please, a little. ", I was just past the clouds when my cockpit suddenly turned red, beeping sound all over the place.

Confused, a stinging pain invaded my chest, where I saw a hole. The sudden realization made my hands lose all strength.

'I won't survive'.

"Bzzzzz.....Comman-buzz...you copy?", The intercom buzzed. I was crashing.

" Buzz...commander?"

(click) I clicked to answer.

"Curse you, Albert, ", I said my last words, as I saw a pitch-black copter soar by, firing some missiles.

"Boom!!"

Exactly past the clouds, I saw something. My eyes were wide open, 'a god-damned massive spaceship. It almost looked like a space warhead.'

"Holy cow! Don't tell me this was the thing that sent those 5 spacecrafts. God! I'm fucked!", The said godly craft moved through the empty space very slowly, but each passing moment made it seem much closer. My ears were ringing with an imaginative deep bass drum.

"Hey sys! Any ideas?", I asked, still staring at the colossal-sized ship.

"Oh, already on it? Wait a minute, let me plan on what to say. ", I set the copter on autopilot.

"Hello?", I spoke to confirm if it connected or not.

"Um.....hello?", 'Was it connected?' I whispered another hello.

[".... Now would you mind continuing further, Mr. Hello?...."], a lady spoke, with a tone of authority.

Listening to her, I remembered my physics teacher; she was so bossy and treated me more like an employee than a student.

"Umm, who's this?", 'Dumb question, I know, a very dumb question indeed... God! I'm stupid'

["....pft...haha...."] The lady giggled. It brought a nervous smile to my face. Though I was still nervous, but not as much as before ...

["Haha.....hah!... Well, MR. Hello, would you mind not wasting Captain's time any longer?"]

'Crap! It connected straight to the captain?'

"Ah...um..., I wanted to have an important face to face with you, captain ", I spoke with a now or never resolution.

["..... What's your rank? And your name please"], the lady spoke with a demanding expression.

'I think she misunderstood me as one of them.'

"You see, I'm from below captain"

["What? From workman levels?"] she said, a slight rise of dominance in her voice."

"Oh, not that. I meant below you, the planet."

["What does that mean? Stop wasting my time, I'm cutting the call."], she seemed annoyed. But what was she ragged about?

"I think you still don't understand. You're in a spaceship, right? It's passing by a planet. And I live on that planet. Now the thing is, that some people attacked me, so I seem to have killed all of them.", I halted my speech for a moment. Realizing she was the reason for the missile that almost blow me up, I was annoyed at her.

["....."], she was silent, and I was further irritated by her silence.

"So, I was asking if they had anything to do with your crew or your spaceship?", I asked in a different tone. The kind of tone I never knew I could use.

["....."], My annoyance was increasing,....at a very fast pace. Her silence screamed they were from her ship.

["You want to negotiate, then?"], she got it right, at the point.

"Ah Yes, if that's possible. I can come right now if you have time," I said, taking Nemesis off the autopilot. I don't want this to get ugly, even though I can afford it.

["No, give me some time. I'll privately visit your home in a few hours."], she said, completely catching me off-guard.

"Eh? You'll come? Are you sure?", My confusion showed in those words, and she surely caught that too.

["Yes"] she said in a plain tone.

["...CLICK!...Toooooot"], and disconnected at once.

"Woah.....let's just say that went strangely well." I heaved a sigh of relief, that nothing had gone wrong.

Maybe I was relieved quite early?
