The attack begins

After a few minutes running through the forest, Shin reached the edge of the island and found that Silvana, Tiana, and Milena were already there watching the barrier crumble.

Silvana sensed his presence and turned to look at him.

"You're here."

Shin nodded and looked at the barrier as well.

"How much is left?"

Milena thought for a few seconds before answering.

"About...No, it's already starting."

The tremors began to get stronger and stronger until they all watched as the reddish, transparent barrier disappeared completely and the earth began to rise.

With the barrier broken, there was no longer any way to keep the people inside the city safe so by now they should be starting to feel unexplainable pain.

The island began to move, and it could see how the other islands were moving as well. It didn't matter if the island was small or colossal in size, they were all moving to some seemingly random location.

"How long will this last?" asked Shin as he watched the island move at a slower pace than he had originally expected.

Silvana who was silently watching the other islands moving replied without looking at him.

"There is no exact time, it may last an hour or even a day."

An hour was very little, but a full day...it was enough for the people inside the city not to resist the exposure of their soul and die in agony.

Milena who had her eyes closed and seemed to be concentrating suddenly opened her eyes and murmured:

"They are coming."

Silvana and Tiana seemed to feel the same as Milena and also braced themselves.

Silvana tightened her grip on a black scythe that Shin had never seen before, and Tiana held a bow similar to the one Silvana used but smaller.

Shin watched as the three women prepared themselves and unconsciously tightened his grip on his sword.

It wasn't long before the island approached another island full of brush that was more than 5 meters high and you could see how various parts of the brush were moving, as if something or someone was moving inside it.

The islands came so close that Shin thought they were about to collide but meters before the two touched, the other island stopped abruptly and hundreds of chain seekers came out of the brush as if they were waiting for this very moment.

"Here they come!"

Silvana smiled and began to build up soul energy on her scythe which began to glow slightly red.

"Okay, time to have some fun!"

The first soul seekers that jumped onto the island were immediately cut to pieces before even touching the ground.

Although speed was not Silvana's forte, Shin could only see red flashes and pieces of flesh flying everywhere.

Tiana was shooting arrows that glowed a dark green color and pierced the heads of the chain seekers.

Milena on the other hand was just watching from behind the battle with dull eyes. Shin didn't know what the woman was thinking but he understood that she was waiting for the right moment to act.

Shin didn't enter the battle either, at least not as long as Silvana and Tiana were enough to block all the chain seekers.

Minutes passed and the chain seekers kept appearing from the undergrowth. They seemed to have no fear for their lives as they kept coming and dying like moths attracted to the light.

Suddenly, however, a roar was heard and the undergrowth on the other island began to move intensely.

The chain searchers stopped jumping onto the island and Silvana returned to Shin's side.

The woman seemed to be in perfect condition as she did not have a single scratch on her body and her clothes were in perfect condition, not even showing signs of fatigue.

Silvana surely had a large amount of soul energy stored in her body and could fight for hours at this rate, as could Tiana. However, they both seemed to be holding back as if they knew something was coming.

"Here comes the second wave!"

Silvana looked at Shin and smirked.

"Enough rest, it's time for you to show me the progress of these past few months."

Shin stopped looking at Silvana and focused on the strangely calm undergrowth. He took a big breath and tightened his grip on the pristine sword that was beginning to glow a soft purple color.

"...Yes, it's time."

Shin was anxious but expectant to see how much he had improved in these months. If what he had been told was true, then he wouldn't get a break for a long time. So, the only way to train would be directly in battle.

From one moment to the next the chain seekers came out of the undergrowth again and with great leaps landed on the island. Behind them jumped giant hooded men whom Shin recognized as the one who chased him when he was in the red lake.

But it wasn't just one, there were ten of them.

At this moment Shin could feel more precisely what was going on around him and somehow perceive the soul energy emanating from each person if they did not want to hide it. And he felt that in his current state he still could not face those giants.

Silvana began to take slow steps towards the chain seekers walking slowly towards them and raised her scythe with one arm.

"I'll take care of the big guys, you concentrate on the others. Tiana, you back up Shin."

"Yes."

"I understand."

Tiana and Shin replied at the same time.

Silvana had a warrior's aura, but she also knew how to convey directions like a great leader, Shin had never been able to see it but now he could better understand the woman who was always looking for fun and fights with Milena.

When she was relaxed, she was a completely different woman than the current Silvana who only focused on the enemy in front of her.

The ten hooded giants roared into the air and began to run towards Silvana making the ground shake with every step they took.

Silvana leaned forward slightly and also ran towards the giants crashing head on into one of them.

In turn, the other chain seekers ignored the battle going on in front of them and ran forward.

Shin took one last big breath and leaned forward waiting for the chain seekers to get close enough.

When the first chain seeker was within a few feet of him, he swung his sword as he advanced forward, and a head flew through the air before falling to the ground and rolling a few feet.

The decapitated body of the chain seeker fell to the ground and Shin heard a voice in his head.

[You have killed a chain seeker in the mortal stage]

But he had no time for anything else as another chain seeker approached with the intention of attacking him with its sharp claws protruding from its black robe.

Shin dodged the attack and with another swing of his sword he finished off the chain seeker again hearing a voice in his head.

With just these two deaths, Shin realized how much he had changed since he had come to this world. He realized that the movements of the chain seekers were easier to read, and his body was much faster than before.

All this was clearly due to his control over the soul energy that powered his body and the training he received from Silvana.

Chain seekers were no different than hungry animals leaping at their prey without a second thought, so their movements were monotonous and easy to learn.

With that in mind, Shin began to take down more chain seekers while avoiding being surrounded by them. Although he was backing off as the numerical difference was simply too great to bear, he was still continuing to kill more and more of the hooded ones.

Tiana had also reduced the rate at which she was firing arrows on Milena's orders who intended to see what Shin was capable of.

He was still a novice in real fights and especially fights like these where it was better to call it a war than mere individual fights.

However, to the surprise of both women Shin was proving to be more agile and lethal than they expected.

Yes, for their current level Shin was nothing. They could take him down very easily, but they also realized that for someone in the mortal stage he was strong.

Not everyone, to say almost no one in the mortal stage could control his soul energy. Shin was an abnormal case and if it wasn't for the right circumstances, he wouldn't be able to manipulate such energy either.

Yet now he was cutting down the soul seekers who approached him with a small smile on his face which even he was not aware he had.
