10 Guest And Host!

"Katherine." i looked above when i heard the voice of Charles. It have been two days since i last saw him. I waited for him day and night but he did not come. And whenever I asked the staff, they always gave the same reply that his majesty is busy with official work.

It worried me to no end. And I was even worried about myself. I did not know anyone and I did not know what I was supposed to do as an empress here. I have seen my mother doing thousands of tasks. From handling staff to making the budget of the empire. Making rules to run the palace to manage the appointment and dismissal. While all I was doing was staying in the room and eating. If bored, I take a walk in the garden, but if it continues I will start rusting due to boredom.

And my would suffer too when i would join later. Once again I was sitting in the garden doing nothing. All i could do was smile as i looked around to show how happy i was there. The lake was really beautiful, but i have already enjoyed its beauty in past few days.

Finally a smile bloomed on my face when I saw him coming. He was looking tired as he walked towards me. I should wait until he feels better. Then I would ask him for everything.

"Your majesty." I stood up, bowed a little as I walked towards him to welcome his arrival.

"Did you like your room and garden?" he signaled me to sit down through his hands again as he smiled at me and I nodded.

He walked and sat beside me but it was too awkward. E both just looked around as I did not know what to say after meeting him after so many days. Calling him by her husband's name was still so unfamiliar. Should I ask him about his work? Would it sound nosy! Or shall I start with simple topics. I was mulling over when i remembered his question so I nodded and smiled,

"Everything is beautiful." I said hesitantly. It was not like it was not beautiful, it was just that it was too flashy. As if it was all to show off. Since it was my personal chamber, I would prefer it to be a bit simplistic.

"I am glad that you liked it. But you can make changes as you like. This is your home now. You can even ask for more maids or anything else you need. They are here to serve you. Your every wish is their command." I looked at the maids and then at him. Did i not need to know a bit before starting making changes in the palace. since it was flash marriage, i didn't get enough time to learn about them. The education I have received was different from theirs. I have to start from learning their alphabets to leaving everything needed. Or, how else would I survive. I clenched my fingers with that thought and looked at him again.

He was drinking the tea with a smile. He was king to me.. And I have to ask it ultimately, so why not now! After some hesitation I finally spoke.

"It has been three days since I came here. It may sound early but I was thinking that if i can go out with Diana.. I have not yet met her so it will be a good way to start bonding." the more I spoke, the more uneasy he felt. In the end, he raised his hands to stop me.

"I do not think this is the right time. If you need anything, you just need to command and the maids will bring it for you. You should rest and learn the manners of the nation first. I will show you the empire once you will be ready." he tried to assure me but I looked at him skeptically. When will I be ready! Did he think I was not ready enough or wise enough.. or!

"Well, if I stay in my room all day, how will I learn the manners of the empire, your majesty?" I asked confused and worried and he frowned.

"Didn't Rosamund come to meet you!?" he asked and this was my turn to frown.

That lady was trying to be the host of the palace! And making me feel that I was nothing but a guest.

"Your majesty. I am the empress of the empire, your legal wife. Do you want me to learn about the duties of empress and manners from your mistress? Have you ever thought about what would be my image if I did that? Or are you trying to prove that your lover has better knowledge and etiquette than the princess of an empire? She even called that as a host, she was there to welcome the guest." though i tried my best to keep my voice calm, I still felt that the idea was absurd!

Did he really feel that the wife and lover would live like sisters? Or was it a dumb tradition of this empire too. If that's the case, shall i bring a lover and ask him to be friends with him too, to make him realize how it felt and what it meant.

"Rosamund was only trying to be friendly with you. And since she is living in the palace for so long, isn't she part of the family? So, what's wrong if she calls herself the host of the palace?" had this man suddenly lost his screws! What was he talking about all of a sudden?

"The maids are also living in the palace for a long time, your majesty. So, by that you said, they have also been members of the royal family for a long time. So, it would not be wrong if they welcome me or you as a host and call us guests here. Would it be?"
