Saoirse Ronan as my character Lyra Evans

Living with a disability like cerebral palsy has never been easy for Lyra, but she would take each day as it came and did her best to always stay positive.

However, through out her life she had her ups and downs. She disliked secondary school as some students weren't very kind towards her as well as some of the teachers.

For Lyra college was better and had a few friends and enjoyed her time at college for almost 4 years. Until it came the time to find a job, she had tried multiple jobs but nothing was really suitable or enjoyable, eventually she settled on creating her own business online by selling t-shirts with her own made designs on them.

This soon became successful worldwide and she decided to move to America, specifically Los Angeles with her friends Ava and Pippa. November 2018, they began settling into their apartment and for a while Pippa had been trying to get a relationship for Lyra.

Lyra knew Pippa had wild ideas and this was definitely one of them but nonetheless she decided to give it a try.

For a few months things between Lyra and her boyfriend Zach were going well, and to be honest a little too well. By June 2019 things had gone down hill and one day he dumped her out of the blue.

Lyra was devastated and heartbroken and demanded answers as to why, though the answer she received was one she never thought she would hear.

"I'm sorry but I don't want to be in a relationship with a disabled person anymore".

Those words were cruel and hurt Lyra like she had been stabbed in the heart, all she wanted was for someone to accept her and not judge her because of her having a disability, but little did she know things were about to change for the better.

2 months later August 12th

Lyra woke up to the blaring sound of her alarm clock on the bedside table, groaning she rolled over slapping her hand on top of it to stop the hideous noise.

She pushed herself into a sitting position wiping sleep from her eyes.

Sighing she pulled back the covers and began her morning routine. For a short while she began contemplating what to do with the day and eventually decided to take a walk along the beach.

She grabbed her coat, shoes and and splints and put them on before heading out.

The walk to the beach was a very pleasant one for Lyra, it was a bright sunny day and as far as the eye could see there was not a cloud in sight.

Lyra soon made it to her destination watching the waves softly as she strolled down the beach. She felt a cool breeze brush passed her face and began to smell the salt from the sea wafting passed her nose.

Until she suddenly lost her balance finding a golden retriever beside her and heard a familiar voice calling out to the dog.

"Chica! oh god I'm sorry are you alright?".

Lyra looked to see someone she never thought she'd meet.

"it's alright, I'm ok", she smiled shyly.

Mark chucked as he helped Lyra to her feet, "I take it you know who I am".

Lyra nodded, "yeah I like to watch your channel it's funny, you're my favourite youtuber", she said as a blush painted her cheeks.

Both Lyra and Mark spent some time getting to know each other and found they had a lot in common. Mark had told his story but now he wondered what her story was.

"Anyway that was mine, what about about you, what's yours?", but as soon as he asked the question he immediately regretted it when he saw the slightly uncomfortable look on her face.

"I'm sorry, I over stepped didn't I, I-"

Lyra shook her head, "no don't worry Mark it's alright".

"Are you sure?"

Lyra nodded and cleared her throat, "I'm sure, well.. I'm Lyra Marie Evans I was born on the 10th of August 1993 with cerebral palsy, basically I had brain bleeding and as a result I was 9 weeks premature, and having the disability means that part of my brain controlling my movement, posture and balance were affected".

Lyra spent some time explaining her story and for once, besides her friends, she felt like she was really being listened to, by the time she had finished she felt very emotional and quickly realised a pair of arms were wrapped around her and returned the gesture.

"That's quite a story, and by the way just so you know, your ex, he's a big fat ass".

Lyra giggled, "yeah he is".
