Hosu Attack

Opening his eyes abruptly, Tobias saw a fist about to hit him, so he quickly rolled out of the way.

"Good! I thought it would take you all week for you to be able to tell when you're about to be attacked in your sleep." said Mirko, who was in her casual clothes which consisted of jeans, a tee, and a sweater.

"Since I'm able to do that now, will you let me sleep?" asked Tobias as he rubbed the sleep out of his eyes.

"No. Wash up and make me breakfast, I'm starving." she said before walking out.

"Ahh, another great meal. I might end up moving to Musutafu just so you can make me food every day." she said, patting her stomach.

"I could figure something out. Like a food delivery service, but for you only." said Tobias as he started mumbling to himself, thinking of the idea.

"Gross. You look like a creep when you do that." said Mirko.

"So, I've been told. Can't help it though, one of my greatest passions in this life is my cards, and I can't help myself when I think of something cool."

"I know the feeling. I love my quirk, and wouldn't trade it for anything in the world." she said smiling.

"Neither would I. Anyway, what's on the docket for today?"

"Same as yesterday, patrol. But, first, we'll do some sparring with those limiter cards of yours so we can burn off the food. Also helps get your blood boiling."

After sparring for an hour or so, the pair washed off the sweat from the sparring and began to patrol the city. Like the day before, nothing much was happening.

"I'm bored." said Mirko, as she lay down on the rooftop of a building overlooking the busiest streets of Hosu.

"Me too." said Tobias, who was also laying down.

"Damn Hero Killer. Made all the villains hide." complained Mirko before Tobias' phone went off.

"Oh, looks like a classmate of mine is passing through Hosu soon."

"Which one?"

"Midoriya." said Tobias, while Mirko was confused.

"The green-haired kid I fought in the second round."

"Oh, him. Nice quirk he has, too bad he can't control it. Who's he interning with?"

"Don't know. Heard he got a last-minute offer, but I didn't get to ask who."

"Oh." she said before the pair descended into silence.

"Mind if I ask you something?" asked Tobias.

"Why do I work alone?"

"Yeah, how'd you know?"

"It's the question I get asked the most."

"What's the answer?"

"Because it's cowardly to rely on your teammate's strength and not your own. You won't always have your teammates with you, and if the time comes when you have to fight a villain but you can't because you can only do so as a team, what's the point?" she explained.

"Interesting."

"What about you? You plan to start an agency or team up with someone?"

"Don't know. I've tossed around the idea of teaming up with my girlfriend, but don't really know. I might just do the sole hero thing. Won't have to worry about anyone dragging me down." said Tobias as he stared at the cityscape.

"Girlfriend eh? You think it'll last?"

"I hope so. She's more than just my girlfriend, she's my best friend."

"Sounds sappy."

"What about you? Don't have any prospects?"

"Plenty. None that I like. They're all weak and annoying. I'll probably end up alone, and I'm fine with that. I'd rather be alone than with someone who drags me down."

"I respect that. Sounds lonely though."

"I didn't say I'm lonely, I have friends. What do you think, that I'm some loser with no friends?"

"I didn't say that."

"I'm friends with Ryukyu."

"Really?"

"Why do you sound so surprised?" she asked, a little peeved.

"Because my girlfriend is interning with her right now."

"Oh. Seems like your girlfriend has some potential then. Ryukyu doesn't take just anyone as an intern."

BOOM

"Let's go!" she said as she quickly got up and hopped her way to where the explosion was.

As the two made their way to the explosion, Tobias was able to see an old man fighting a Nomu.

"Move, old man!" said Mirko as she axe-kicked the Nomu after jumping high into the air.

"Old man? You, youngsters, need to learn some respect. I can still whoop your ass." said the short old man.

BOOM

Turning around, Tobias could see more explosions going off in other parts of the city.

'There has to be more than one of these Nomus. And if the Nomus are here then that means that hand freak is here. I need to find him.'

"Mirko, I'm going to go help elsewhere!" said Tobias as he summoned his hoverboard.

"Idiot, you can't use your quirk!" she yelled as the Nomu stood up, while Tobias ignored her.

'If I was a homicidal and delusional maniac that acts like a little kid, where would I be to see everything? On a roof, with a view of all the destruction.' thought Tobias as he turned into an alley to scale the walls to reach a roof.

As he turned into the alley, he saw the Hero Killer standing on top of Ida, about to slash him with his katana. Seeing this, Tobias threw the card he had in his hand which quickly turned into twenty razor-sharp cards while in flight.

The Hero Killer sensing something looked up to see the cards and used his katana to strike the ones that would hit him. Meanwhile, taking the chance that the Hero Killer was distracted, Tobias swooped in and pulled Ida and the other injured hero away.

"Tobias?!" said Ida, whom Tobias had placed on the ground along with the other hero before placing a barrier card around the two.

"Are you okay, Ida?" asked Tobias, not taking his vision away from the Hero Killer.

"Don't let him cut you and taste your blood, that's his quirk!" said Ida.

"A kid in a costume? Who are you to steal my prey?" asked the Hero Killer.

"The Hero Killer appears while Nomus start to rampage around the city. I'd venture a guess that you teamed up with the League of Villains."

"Oh? You're a smart kid. But I'm not teaming up with them for long. Once I'm done using them, I'll kill them." he said letting loose his bloodlust.

"Oh, so you're a real killer. Those other villains can't compare." said Tobias, not fazed by the bloodlust.

"Those eyes, you're no hero. You're just a kid looking to fight someone. Someone who wields his power for himself." he said as he rushed Tobias, slashing diagonally.

Tobias, who had activated a buff card when he first arrived, stepped into the Hero Killer's space and was about to deliver a blow to his liver, but had to block the incoming knife that was snaking its way to his gut.

The Hero Killer having successfully stopped Tobias, dropped his knife to hold onto Tobias' arm and use it as a pivot point to kick him with his spike-tipped shoes. Unfortunately for him, Tobias had seen something during his early trade that made him allow the Hero Killer to grab a hold of him.

SMASH

Midoriya came bounding from the entrance of the alley, fist at the ready, hitting the Hero Killer right in his ugly mug as he smashed into the ground.

"Bingo. Thanks for holding him still, Tobias." said Midoriya.

"Forget about it. You didn't use enough strength. He's still kicking." said Tobias.

"Both of you, don't interfere. This has nothing to do with either of you!" said Ida, who was still struggling to move in the barrier.

"What're you saying?" said Midoriya.

"You're still trying to get revenge for your brother?" asked Tobias.

"Another kid shows up. Another to kill. The weaker of us will be culled." said the Hero Killer as he stood up and let out his bloodlust once more.

"I guess so." said Tobias as he rushed up again to fight him while Midoriya discreetly texted his location.

As Tobias rushed HK, he threw out a card that turned into multiple razor-sharp cards again. HK moved to strike them down again, but as he hit them they exploded into paper butterflies that obstructed his vision.

Quickly waving his katana around to get rid of them all, he looked up to see Tobias doing an axe kick with a big smile on his face, but he wasn't able to dodge it completely.

SMASH

Tobias' axe kick which had been meant to land on his head, had instead landed on his left shoulder due to moving at the last second.

Unfortunately for Tobias, HK had strategically given up his shoulder to get a drop of Tobias' blood which he promptly licked, paralyzing Tobias.

"You put up a good fight kid." said HK with his limp left arm.

"Tobias!" yelled Midoriya as he rushed the HK but before he could reach him, the HK put his katana against Tobias' throat, stopping Midoriya in his tracks.

"Fake heroes are cancer on this society. And someone needs to correct the system." said HK as he quickly jumped backward as a wave of ice appeared over Tobias.

"A fundamentalist? Get with the times." said Todoroki.

"Todoroki!" said Midoriya.

"I didn't understand your message at first, but then I got it. You were saying help."

"More kids." said HK.

"Tobias, I didn't think you'd be so careless as to get caught by this guy." said Todorki as he used his ice to bring Tobias near him.

"Who said I did? It was all a part of my plan, except I didn't expect you to come." said Tobias as the paper butterflies that were stuck on HK's body and all around the floor suddenly turned into little electric spirits, and released all their electricity on HK.

ZAP

THUMP

"Told you. All part of the plan." said Tobias as he looked at the villain passed out and sizzling from the many volts that went through his body.

"So, you made him trade his arm for your blood, so he would be caught off guard by your electricity?"

"No, that was actually my bad. Oops. But don't tell anyone, especially not my mentor. She'll work me over five times as hard for being so careless." said Tobias as his classmates just stared at him.

"Tie him up. There should be a rope around here somewhere." said Todoroki.

"Actually I can do that, I just need you to give me a hand. Go into my pocket and grab the deck and grab two cards for me." said Tobias as Midoriya did just that.

"Okay, now place the first card on me and place the second one on him." said Tobias as he activated them once Midoriya placed them. The one on Tobias was meant to reverse any negative effects or debuffs like HK's quirk, while the one placed on HK was meant to tie him up.

"Ah, there we go." said Tobias as he stood up and stretched.

"Why'd you use that card on yourself?" asked Todoroki.

"To cancel his quirk."

"But it should already be canceled, look." he said pointing at Ida and the pro hero standing up.

"Damn. I wasted a card for nothing. Oh well. Let's go, there's Nomus around so that means that hand freak from USJ should be around." said Tobias as he dragged the HK.

"Sorry for not doing much. I'm the pro here." said the pro.

"Forget it. One-on-one versus the Hero Killer and anyone would have trouble. Not to mention his quirk is strong." said Midoriya.

"Huh? Why're you here?" said the old man from earlier who appeared in front of them.

"Gran Torino!" said Midoriya.

"I told you t'stay in your seat!" he said as he lightly kicked Midoriya in the face.

"Hey, you're that old man from earlier. But if you're here where's Mirko?" said Tobias before he quickly rolled out of the way.

SMASH

"So, you fought the Hero Killer when I specifically told you not to? And you got injured fighting him?" she said as she appeared from the dust.

"I couldn't help it, he was about to kill Ida and that pro. It's not like I could've left them there." said Tobias.

"He's right. He saved us both." said the pro.

"Hm, fine. But you still got injured so that means we're going to train extra hard later."

"Sigh."

"Get down!" yelled Gran Torino as an injured winged Nomu suddenly swooped down from the sky and grabbed Midoriya before they could react. Mirko being the fastest to react was about to jump after him when suddenly the Hero Killer broke free, licked the Nomu's blood, and jumped after it to kill it.

"Both this sham-filled society and the criminals who wield their power in the name of petty mischief are targets of my purge all for the sake of a better society." he said as he stood over the Nomu's body.

"Why're you all bunched up together?! One of them should've headed your way!" said Endeavor, who came from an alley.

"Endeavor." said the Hero Killer.

"Hero Killer!" shouted Endeavor as he was about to burn him to a crisp.

"Todoroki wait!" shouted Gran Torino.

"You fake. If I don't fix it. If someone isn't stained with blood! If I don't reclaim my hero status! Come! Just try me, you fakes!" said the Hero Killer as he fully released his blood lust and staggered his way to Endeavor.

"The only one allowed to kill me is All Might, a true hero!" he said, as one of Endeavor's sidekicks fell on her ass.

"He's out cold." said Mirko as she stared at him, solemnly.

"Shit." said Tobias, remembering that the hand freak should be around, summoning his hoverboard, and going up a building.

"Kid!" said Mirko as she jumped after him.

"Damn, I got to caught up in the Hero Killer." said Tobias as he reached the rooftop and was looking around before he saw the hand freak looking right at him, wave, and then enter a portal similar to the one the villain from USJ can make, but smaller.

"Kid, what the hell do you think you're doing?!" said Mirko as she reached his location.

"Those Nomus are the same ones from the USJ incident. And they're controlled by one guy which means he had to be here. I saw him escape through a portal while he waved at me." explained Tobias.

"The League of Villains, right?"

"Yeah."

"It's too late now, come on."

After spending a night in the hospital, even though the four students weren't injured severely.

"Looking back now, what we did was incredible." said Midoriya.

"Yeah."

SNORE

The three of them turned to look at Tobias who was sound asleep.

"It's incredible how after doing so much, he can sleep so soundly." said Ida.

"Ohh, all the little wounded warriors are awake!" said Gran Torino as he, Mr. Manual, Mirko, and a dog-headed person came in.

"Not all of us, Tobias is still asleep." said Todoroki.

"Oh, he is, is he?" said Mirko as she was about to walk up to hit him before Tobias sprung awake.

"I'm awake!" he said, looking right at the door.

"Good. I thought you'd have to learn another lesson."

"Ehem, anyways before she chews you out, you've got a visitor. This is Mr. Kenji Tsuragamae, Hosu's Chief of Police." said Gran Torino.

"Please stay seated, woof."

"Cool." said Tobias.

"So you're the U.A. students who stopped the Hero Killer. As for him, he's currently in treatment for his burns, broken bones, and a number of other serious injuries, woof." he said, causing the students to go silent.

"At the dawn of this extraordinary era, the police moved to prioritize leadership and to maintain the status quo, so they decided not to use quirks as weapons. The profession of "hero" rose as one that would fill that void, woof. Authorizing the use of such might, of these powers that could so very easily kill, was a heavily criticized decision at first, but it would garner public support.

All because our predecessors acted morally and complied with the laws, woof. But those without permission, those who inflict harm without explicit instruction from the police and powers that be, even if they were to face someone like the Hero Killer, such action would represent a stunning breach of the law, woof. You four, as well as your pro hero mentors, Endeavor, Manual, Gran Torino, and Mirko. The eight of you must be dealt with strictly and impartially." he said.

"Hold on a minute. If Ida hadn't acted, Native would've been killed. If Tobias hadn't shown up, both of them would be dead. If Midoriya and I hadn't shown up all three of them might be dead."

"Big might." said Tobias.

"Should we have let people die, all in the name of your "law?" Everything turned out fine, so just forget about the law this time!" said Todoroki.

"Calm down, Todoroki. I'm assuming the Chief has more to say than just that." said Tobias.

"Correct. All of that is what I'm obligated to tell you, as the police. But the real question is whether or not to deal with this issue publicly, woof. If we let out the story, you'll all be lauded by the public, but you won't be able to avoid punishment.

But if we keep this nasty business to ourselves, the Hero Killer's burns will support the story that Endeavor was the key operative. He'll receive the accolades, woof. Fortunately, the number of eyewitnesses was small enough that we can hush up this whole matter before it causes problems, woof. But in that case, your actions will remain unknown to the public.

What do you say?! I'm an understanding man. So when it comes to a promising group of young people, I'd rather not have to pursue charges over this admittedly massive indiscretion, woof!" he said giving us a thumbs up.

"Either way, our negligence is to blame. We have to take responsibility." said Mr. Manual as Ida stoop up and bowed to him.

"I'm so very sorry." he said as Mr. Manual chopped him in the head.

"Yeah! You caused big trouble for your mentor, so don't do it again!" said Mr. Manual as the four of them bowed to the Chief.

"Thanks for everything." they said.

"The world's an unfair place. But at least as someone invested in keeping the peace, I can thank you!" said the Chief as he bowed before leaving. After that, Midoriya also apologized to Gran Torino.

"And you? You're not apologizing to me?" asked Mirko.

"No. Because I'm not sorry and I know you don't care for my apology either, because you would've done the same if you were in my shoes." said Tobias.

"You little brat." she said with a smile.

"Let's start your training right now." she said with a devilish smile.

"Please forgive me, mentor." said Tobia as he bowed all the way to the floor.

"Too late."

After a grueling few days, the internship was finally over.

"Thank you, Mirko. This week has been fun." said Tobias.

"I enjoyed sparring with you too, kid. Too bad I won't get to eat your food anymore."

"Actually, here. Two parting gifts from me." he said as he handed her two cards.

"What do they do?"

"One of them is a bento box that fills up with any food you want once a day, and the other is so you won't be lonely."

"I'm not lonely!"

"Then consider this a student caring about his mentor." he said as he walked away.

"Thanks, kid. Call me if you ever need my help."

"Later, Mirko, and ditto." he said, but as he left he heard the sound of her using the second card.

"Buneary!"
