The Cheaters

My wife hung up Tommy's call and glanced up at me. "Honey, look! Tommy said I was impolite for not attending. He's my boss, it wouldn't look good if I didn't go."

From a rational standpoint, I wouldn't risk offending her boss just because my wife didn't attend a birthday party. But Tommy made me uncomfortable.

My wife works under him, and I can't ask her to quit because of my suspicions. It's nearly impossible. After all, her job comes with good pay and is relatively cozy, kind of position many would looking forward to get.

"Do you distrust me, honey?" My wife noticed my thoughts and then suggested, "How about this, dear? Let's go together."

Her suggestion eased my mind somewhat. I initially thought of refusing to accompany her, but considering Tommy's visit today to discuss the switch of spouses, combined with my wife's recent behavior, I decided to join her.

My wife asked me to change clothes and took me to her colleague's birthday party at the Sky Nightclub, one of the best nightclubs in our city, a true symbol of extravagance. Many wealthy people frequent it, and who knows how many lucrative deals are made there.

My wife and I were getting ready to attend her colleague's birthday party at the Sky Nightclub. Inside the private room, there were many people, mostly my wife's colleagues, who greeted her as she entered.

Tommy sat over there, exchanging greetings with my wife. The way Li Tao looked at my wife made me wonder if there was something unclear between them. But why did I insist on imagining such things about my wife?

Sitting next to Tommy was a blonde woman, tonight's birthday girl, wearing light makeup and giving off a gentle aura. My wife told me her name was Leslie, their department manager. She didn't tell me much else about the others.

My wife's male colleagues were very friendly, offering me drinks. I couldn't refuse their hospitality.

I lost track of time as I drank. Eventually, my wife whispered to me that she needed to use the restroom. Her male colleagues kept me occupied with dice games.

When I snapped back to reality, I noticed my wife hadn't returned. Does using the restroom take half an hour? Even more worrisome,Tommy was nowhere to be found.

Did my wife and Tommy sneak out together? Are they engaging in some illicit affair in the restroom? Or did Tommy book a room here and take my wife there while I was drinking with his employees?

I felt increasingly angry. Is my wife really engaging in something indecent with Tommy in his room?

I couldn't remain calm. I picked up my phone to call my wife and find out what she was up to. But just as I stood up, Leslie approached with a drink, intending to toast me.

She's the birthday girl tonight, and if she's offering me a drink, I can't refuse, especially from a lady.

But I couldn't shake the feeling that they were stalling, giving my wife and Tommy ample time for whatever they were doing. But I had no evidence. I couldn't confront them directly, could I? What if I'm wrong? If I make a scene in front of my wife's colleagues, how will she continue working at the company?

"John, bottoms up."Leslie poured her glass of liquor in one gulp. It was such high-proof alcohol...

To keep my manliness, I reluctantly followed her, emptying the glass. Unexpectedly, the other female colleagues also approached to toast me, clearly intent on getting me drunk.

But I'm not stupid. I pretended to take a call, and seeing me on the phone, they left me alone.

The alcohol hit me hard, especially after downing that strong drink earlier. I stumbled out of the private room, feeling dizzy and disoriented.

I realized my wife still hadn't returned. How could she be in the restroom for so long? I planned to ask her colleagues where she and Tommy went.

Just then, my wife walked in from outside. But something about her clothes seemed off. She claimed to have just come from the restroom. How could she enter from outside? What was she really up to?

Feeling the effects of the alcohol, I could barely walk. Suddenly, I saw Tommy walking up behind my wife, and they stood together, chatting and laughing as if they shared some intimate secret. From my angle, it seemed like Tommy's hand was on my wife's back.

I couldn't take it anymore. I was about to explode and confront them when, weakened by the drinks, I took a step forward and collapsed to the ground.

Before losing consciousness, I felt my wife rushing to help me up. I vaguely heard her saying something caring. But I also sensed Tommy standing nearby, smirking at me.

I wanted to stand up but found myself too weak. Slowly, everything faded away as I drifted into sleep.
