Chapter 30 . Back to Earth

Chapter 30 . Back to Earth

[May 1 2023.]

"We are not alone in this world. We, the humans, are not the only creatures that live under the sun. There are more creatures out there that are different, special, skillful, and even more powerful than us. Last month, it was reported 15 men were killed on a beach called Death Shores by some sort of Unknown animal. According to a forensic report, they were not killed by just any wild animal, it wasn't a lion, tiger, shark, or a whale. It was something else far dangerous.

Consider these questions: What if that same creature attacks us again? What if this time it attacks the White House? What will save us from them? My research shows that there are more mystical creatures hidden in the depths of the seas and deep forests like the Amazon Rainforest, and many others of which we are still unaware, ready to come out any time.

"My investigations indicate that we have only discovered 40% of the creatures present on this planet. This leaves 60% of them still unknown.

"We need to act smart. We need to find them first before they find us. If not, then I am afraid our generation will not pass on. We all need to start believing in our old myths and legends because they are true.

The creatures are just hiding or waiting for the right time to invade our planet. Believe it or not, vampires, sirens, werewolves, mermaids, Trigon, gorgons, krakens, apparitions, sphinxes, tritons, fish demons, and capricorns are all real. And if they don't exist, why do their names still remain in our story books?"

After Mr. Damian finished his speech, only 15 people were left, who stayed because they found his speech hilarious. Most of them started leaving.

Mr. Damian was fuming mad when he realized that his lectures were entirely hopeless in front of these scholars. He had wasted his time, and all he received was laughter.

"You are laughing at me! There are many vampires out there somewhere trying to destroy this planet, and you're here laughing at me!" he exclaimed. The students laughed even harder.

"This is the funniest day of my life," one of the students blurted out as they left. "No, this lecturer is the funniest man alive. I think he should start his TV show," another student said, still tangled up in laughter.

Mr. Damian noticed one serious student still sitting compiling his notes. "Why aren't you leaving like the rest of them?" he asked the student.

The boy appeared to be an African-American. His afro black hair pointing straight in the air, his sharp jawline and straight nose covered his nerdy features. "Mr Damian!" He stood intently after realizing that the renowned Scientist Mr Damian had actually talked to him!!!

"I am Darlington! I am a great fan of your work" He praised.

Mr Damian rolled his eyes at him. He was fed up with those cliche moments between him and his fans. "Good bye" Mr Damian hurried to say before the boy could even react.

Darlington watched as Mr Damian left the auditorium. Today has been just like the previous days. He walked by himself, talked to himself almost every time he leaves his sister and travels here.

His lonely life has become a part of him now. Even if he had money and the fancy items his colleagues had, he still felt like it won't be enough to get either a friend or much worse a girlfriend.

Darlington was lost in thought and without him realizing it, he was following Mr Damian! He kept on thinking until he found himself knocking on Mr Damian's door.

The door opened right at his face.

Mr Damian felt like someone was chasing him but he never thought it through until finally he heard the person knock on his door.

Strange!!

He opened the door right after the person made the first knocking. "Yes" He scanned the student from head to toe waiting for him to tell why he was here but the boy was just standing shocked, staring at his face. He was wasting his time just like he had wasted his time giving the students lectures now he dreaded people.

"Why are you after me?" Damian asked, looking at his wrist watch. A guy called Criss Fenty had given him a call that the new Mayor had requested his presence on the new creature their robots couldn't identify.

"...I , am" Darlington cursed himself inwardly after coming all the way here to be humiliated like this. "I was working on a project." He finished saying hoping that was a good excuse.

"I don't have time. What do you want to tell me boy?" He checked his wrist watch again, it was getting to 10.

Darlington also did the same as he noticed that the sun was already out!!

Quickly he pushed past Mr Damian and hurried to his office. Damian's eyes twitched in surprise. Damian walked back to his office trying very hard not to show the anger that was building within him.

"What is it kid! Is something wrong with you?"

Darlington now realized how awkward the situation he was putting himself in looked like. "I am sorry sir, I didn't mean to scare you like that."

"Scare me?" This boy is really nuts' Mr Damian thought then he ignored it and he ignored the boy. But then he saw Darlington pacing back and forth in his office.

Now he is over doing it. Sir Damian thought of placing his hand on the emergency alert button. Then, he heard the boy speak in a weird voice. "I need your help. I can't hold it any more! I am tired of suffering"

Damian became confused more than anything. But since he is a scientist his skills came handy. He just sat down "observing" Darlington.

Something didn't seem right with this boy. He felt like he should just sit down and wait until he finds out what it is.

"Tell me my boy, what is troubling you Darlington?" Suddenly The moment he said Darlington, he lost it. The boy scattered all the papers on the desk, and after a few minutes he started settling down.

"Why do you hate us?" He said looking dangerous in a certain way that Damian couldn't pinpoint why.

"I don't hate people" He hurried to say. Even after what the students did to him

He was going ti hate every damn student but this boy's compelled him to lie about it.

"I am not talking about humans" Darlington replied.

"What are you talking about?" He asked, placing his hands on the recording device.

Darlington pace a little more before he calmed down. "I think it's time for me to confess something. Something that I have never told anyone before. And it's my secret I hope you won't snitch on me."

Damian gave him an honest expression showing that he won't tell, but the truth was that, since he wasn't a councilor all he could do was to listen and find out whether or not to refer him to a psychiatrist.

Damian: "Okay, I'm listening."

Darlington felt his hands shaking, his truth was about to be out. His secret: "Promise you won't be scared of me"

"Huh. I love danger" he smirked.

" It started last week…" Miraculously his lips refused to follow what he intended to do. "Are you listening?"There was a deep voice inside his ears telling him not to but the boy had been through a lot. He didn't realize Damian was a scientist and would experiment on him.

He looked down in shame before answering.

"I am a vampire."
