Thursday

Today is the last day of school and I honestly can't wait for tomorrow

'Sweet summer, here I come'

I can't seem to hide the excitement in the tone of my voice as I greet Mia, my best friend. I've known her since kindagerteen

'Hi Mia'

'Kelsie gurl...', she says in return

We do our regular handrun and move to our various lockers. While I get my books outta my locker...

'I seriously cannot wait to be drunk with sleep tomorrow ugh'

'WELP! lucky you! I really had plans for the holiday but my mom says I have to go work part-time in my aunt's shop as a janitor. Had protested earlier, but she wouldn't listen to a single word from me'

If there's anything Mia and I have in common, it's that we are lazy to the core. Mom has to threaten me everytime, just so I can do stuff at home

'parents are so old school yeah' I say, and we both laugh.

The close of school hour Bell rings and all of us walk out of class.

My heart keeps racing as I stand in front of the notice board. I close my eyes with my hands as I say a small prayer. At this point, I'm not sure prayer can exactly do anything but yeah. I kinda dropped this session because I stopped reading. Just found it boring all of a sudden. I open my eyes and find my name in 3rd place. Ehhh, that's still ok I guess

But then I look up and see Mia's name in 2nd place. That BISH

James name is in first place in class A, meaning I, Mia and him get to be in the same class. My day couldn't get any better. James is the guy I've been crushing on since middle school

Speak of the devil

'hey Kelsie'

It's James

'uh, hi James' I say rolling my eyes and smiling shyly, still trying to keep my cool.

'you didn't do too bad'. HE JUST HAD TO REMIND ME OF MY MISERY

I can see a slight grin on his face

'uhm, is me getting 3rd place all that amusing?'

'no? Well as you can'...

I cut him short and continue

'see you got the first place' ugh. Just how did I fall in love with such a proud goat

'and' he continues, 'we happen to be in the same class'. wait! What? OML!! DID HE JUST TALK ABOUT US BEING IN THE SAME CLASS?!?! never would I have imagined. Is this actually happening? One of the hottest guys in school wasting his time on me lol, and is even happy we get to be in the same class. I mean, I'm quite pretty myself, no doubt about that but like, James is way outta my league. It's a good thing I at least stand a chance lol

'hello? Are you still er?' he says snapping his fingers in my face

'uhm yeah, I uh just remembered I've got stuff to do'

He stops me almost immediately and hits me hard with a question I never thought he'd ask

'wanna hang out sometime?' he says in return

'oh yeah sure, you just pick a day and we're cool'

'so Tuesday it is, cya' and with that, he leaves

'bye' I say with doubt he'd even hear me. He turns around and smiles
