Two days later…

Myles has written his entrance exams and came out the best student that sat for the exams.

It was a beautiful Wednesday morning, Myles had gone to school. Claire was online when an advertisement popped up on her screen. It was the Mega Empire Business Union looking for job aspirants.

She quickly searched for the location of the company and to her surprise it was near her house, she could not believe her eyes an opportunity presenting itself. She then dialed the customer care line which was picked up by a lady.

”good day ma’am, how may I be of help to you?” The lady asked

”good day to you too, I am a job aspirant, I would love to work with your company” Claire replied

”oh I see, you should write an application and submit to the company before tomorrow, tomorrow is the deadline” the lady stated

”is that all?” Claire asked

”yes, you just have to wait, the company would send for an interview, there you would show your capabilities” the lady responded

“I understand, thanks a lot for your time” Claire appreciated before hanging up the call, she was happy and grateful for the opportunity.

Immediately, she brought out her credentials and tore out a plain shit of paper and started writing her application letter.

Claire spent the whole day writing an application letter and squeezing it, she felt it was not good enough, she forgot she had to pick up her son from school.

Claire was still writing her twenty third letter when she heard a knock on the door, she opened it only to find Em, her children and her son

”Claire, I believe it is an hour past their closing time” Em stated angrily

“Em I can explain, I…” Claire wanted to speak but was cut off by Em

“save it, I don’t need it, I had a long day at work today” said Em

“no I have good news”

”could you reserve it for the later” Em finally said and left with her kids

”Myles, I am really sorry, I was very busy” Claire pleaded

”mom! What is all this paper work around here? You didn’t tell me you are into paper work”

”no I am not, I’m applying for a job”

”when?”

”I would submit the application tomorrow”

“okay, mom I am hungry”

”there is spaghetti on the dinning table, eat till you are satisfied”

”okay mom, thanks”

The following day came so quick, as usual Myles went to school and Claire prepared to submit her application letter.

After dropping Myles in school, she headed to Mega Empire Business Union shortly called MEBU

the company had a tight security so it took a while before she was allowed in.

”good Morning” her early sixties spoke “my son, the boss couldn’t make it but not to worry because mr McDonald, the boss’ personal assistant is here, all aspirant are seventy five in number and we only need ten individuals, so do your best. Good luck to all” she rounded off.

another young lady approached the center of the room “In no particular order I would be calling on you guys for your interview, first person on my list is mr Ben” a short dark man appeared and was lead into a private room. In not more than five minutes he was done, and that was how the interview went, simple and quick.

”Number fifty eight is miss Claire Hart” Claire stood up, she muttered a silent prayer before going inside the room.

”good day Claire” McDonald greeted

”good day sir”

”no need for the sir, just call me Donald, what is your name in full?”

”Claire Hart”

”country?”

“Asia”

”age?”

”twenty seven”

”have you ever worked in a business firm before?”

”yes, in Asia”

”alright, thanks for your time”

”when are the results coming out?”

”we would communicate to you”

”thank you sir… I mean Donald”

Claire had a mixed feeling when she was going home, she didn’t know whether to be happy or sad.

myles was playing games at Em’s place when his mother returned “mom you are back” “let’s go upstairs” “mom can I…” “upstairs now!” She roared and Myles was left with no option than to obey
