CHAPTER SIXTEEN: WHICH COUPLE?

The traffic lights turned red and Quetzalli Axel braked and waited for the pedestrians to cross the zebra crossing before she drove off again at a terrific speed once the traffic lights turned to amber then to red.

In the afternoon, the crowds in the city grew bigger as office workers now joined the throngs of people.

Now it was also time to go home.

Taxis were in great demand while shoppers queued up to get one. Most of the taxis had already been hired and so they did not stop to pick up passengers, much to the frustration of the shoppers.

The crowds gradually disappeared as evening approached and darkness began to creep in but they grew steadily again as the night market started operating.

Crowds swarmed around for night snacks at the various food stalls and restaurants near the theatre or to pick up some good bargains.

Now the capital city city Square was a sea of lights. It was indeed the liveliest street, busy all day long and into the night.

(IN CORVUS NOLAN'S HOME)

Xavier Nolan was dropped off by Kelly Channing in front of the mansion I'm which his parents resided in. After he got off the car, Kelly Channing drove off at a terrific speed off to her house.

There was an iron gate which was heavily guarded by bodyguards who seemed not to even allow a housefly inside the mansion.

Xavier Nolan took sure steps into the mansion. One of the maidens outside the house opened the doors and Xavier Nolan got in. He found his mother just from taking her dinner at a restaurant with her friends. She had carried a white Gucci handbag and held her mobile phone which was the latest iPhone on her right hand.

She was dressed in an ice blue plunging necklined wrap dress,  white pump heels and had allowed her golden brown hair to freerly cascade on her back.

"Mom, where is father?" Xavier Nolan asked. He sat down on the sofa and served himself a glass of cold water from the pitcher that was just in front of him.

"You do not even care for your mother do you? You just want me to die while I have not seen my grandson. Why do you seem to make things difficult for Quetzalli Axel?" She inquired from him.

"I just do not have feelings for her, why should a romantic relationship ne forced?" Xavier Nolan replied. He expected his mother to care about his feelings but no, she didn't care about his feelings at all.

"Who told you that all relationships are based on love at first sight. The couple should first get to know each other well. Okay?"

"Which couple? Mother please stop imagining things,okay and why can't you recommend a girlfriend to my brother, Zander Nolan? Isn't he your legitimate son?"
