YESTERDAY

Evelyn was celebrating her five year anniversary with her husband, Shawn. They had breakfast at their favorite Café called Moonlight Café. It was the place they first met six years ago...

They were both home on their spring break and were there picking up pastries for their families. Evelyn and Shawn had both decided to be indulgent and splurge on an exquisitely designed tiramisu cake. It was designed in the shape of Ying Yang. Half the cake was classic tiramisu flavored while the other was a matcha tiramisu.

"This one," they had pointed to the cake at the same time and said. They looked at each other and laughed. The rest was as that say, history.

After the meal they had sat down overlooking the tranquil view. It was then that he decided to shatter her world. In one blow, with just three sentences:

1. He wanted a divorce, today.

2. He had a steady girlfriend that he's been dating for a year.

3. She was fired from her position as VP, effective immediately.

With each sentence he pulled out a document. He put the divorce papers in front of her, a picture of him and a woman in a very intimate position. He had his arms around her and she was placing a kiss on his cheeks close to his lips. The last was a formal notice of her lay off.

Evelyn was stunned. She had some important news that she wanted to share with him that night as well. But seeing as he wanted a divorce, there was no longer the need.

"Why?" She asked him. He looked at her, his face different than it was just minutes ago. Where there was warmth and tenderness in his eyes, there was now indifference.

"I'm not in love with you anymore," Shawn said, shrugging casually. Evelyn was barely able to process what she was feeling. Shock, anger? She wasn't sure.

"This is so sudden though," Evelyn said. She started to reach out for him but stopped. Evelyn was always a very prideful woman. She was never willing to swallow her pride but for once she wanted to.

However Evelyn was also a very logical woman. She realized he was determined, he had come prepared with all the documents for the divorce. There would be no point in begging him to stay. It might have been she was already feeling so emotionally broken these passed couple of weeks but the shock of this didn't allow her to act rashly.

"I want a day to look this over." She finally answered quietly. He looked at her, his eyes wide.

"You're not going to fight me?" He asked cautiously. Shawn knew his wife was intelligent and had a very high EQ. She was always very good at concealing her emotions.

"Honey!" A woman's voice could be heard. When they both turned to look at her she was walking toward them. She was dressed in a yellow sundress and a pair of two inch pumps. Her hair was in perfect curls. She was very pretty. She was also the woman in the picture. Evelyns hands tightened with the sound of the heels click-clacking on the floor.

"Amy!" Shawn said and quickly got up to greet her.
