Prologue

The Shrouded Hero's black dagger flashed through the air with a dark light before cutting off his opponent's hand.

"What a fight, huh?"

Nathan smirked at the Shrouded Hero. He didn't even flinch at his hand. It was far from the worst of his injuries.

"Shut up and die, you motherfucking bastard."

The Shrouded Hero kicked Nathan into the wall of solid stone with enough force to create a spiderweb of cracks that stretched to the patchy ceiling.

"Unless you're going to tell me how you always managed to find me."

The Shrouded Hero placed his dagger against the side of Nathan's neck.

"Nope!"

Nathan laughed.

"There's no way I would tell you after all this time—"

The Shrouded Hero cut off Nathan's head. His face was gloomy out of dissatisfaction.

"Fucking bastard. Rot in hell."

The Shrouded Hero took a break from cutting up Nathan's corpse as he looked toward the horizon.

"I guess you would thrive in hell, actually. Wait for me, scumbag. I'm going to make your afterlife miserable."

The Shrouded Hero sighed again and stabbed Nathan's heart until it was nothing but minced meat. He then gave the rest of his body the same treatment.

The Shrouded Hero scooped up the minced meat that had once been Nathan, one of the worst villains to roam the world. The person who killed the most heroes. The person who sped up Earth's decline the most. 

"'Shortening our misery,' my ass."

The Shrouded Hero frowned just thinking about how Nathan always claimed to be doing everyone a favor whenever the Shrouded Hero caught him doing something that only brought Earth closer to the brink of destruction.

The Shrouded Hero dumped Nathan's scraps in a vat of acid, which he then mixed with gasoline and lit on fire. The Shrouded Hero then spread whatever ashes remained all over the world.

"Rest in agony, you miserable fucker."

When he was finally done with Nathan's burial, the Shrouded Hero prepared. Since Nathan had killed almost everyone else, the Shrouded Hero was the only one left who could save the world.

Even if only out of spite toward Nathan and his attempts, the Shrouded Hero was going to make sure the world survived.
