8 Missile

A couple weeks later...

After Bellamy is inside the Mountain we need to make a distraction so they are looking at us and not looking for him. I sent a message to Mount Weather through Ravens radio that goes to Mount Weather. I told them that we are coming for them. This backfired when Bellamy found out that they are going to send a middle into TonDC, killing all of us. No one knew about the missile except me. I had to warn Lexa.

Once I explain the situation to Lexa, I tell her we have to start evacuating. "No." "What do you mean no Lexa?" I ask her angrily. "If we evacuate the Mountain Men will know that we have a spy on the inside." "Not necessarily." I say, even though I know that's not really true. "We can't risk it." Lexa's replies. "What's the point of having an inside man if we can't act on what he tells us?" I ask. "Is the acid fog disabled? Is the army let out of there cages?" I shake my head. "Then Bellamy's job is not done. Without him, we can't win this war." She replies. "Then what are you saying? We do nothing? We let them bomb us?" "Some of our army is already in the woods. They will be safe.That way the mountain men won't inspect anything." She tells me. "What about us?" I say. "We slip away. Now. Put this on." She hands me clothes that will make us not stand out. "Lexa wait. I'm the one that sent a message to mount weather, I'm the one that provoked them." "Clarke, sometimes you have to conceive a battle to win a war." "This is wrong!" I yell. "This is the only way. And you know it. You showed true strength today. Don't let emotions stop you now. It's time to go." She walks towards the woods. I follow her, knowing that she is right. Once we make it to the woods I look back and see my mom. I have to get her. I run towards her. "Clarke!" I hear Lexa yell. I can't stop now. I get my mom and tell her we have to get out of here. She asks me questions but I keep pulling her forward. The bomb goes off, and we get thrown forward. By the time I regain consciousness, smoke is everywhere. My mom is still next to me. "You knew." My mom says angrily. "You knee and you let this happen!" "I had to mom! The mountain men would know Bellamy's inside if I didn't do this. You can't tell anyone." "I won't." My mom says coldly, as she heads back to camp to help the injured. I find Lexa. We head back to camp to help. We hear shots going off. "There's a sniper. You have to kill him before he finishes off the rest of us." I hear Octavia say.

Lincoln, Lexa, and I go into the woods to find the sniper. After searching for a bit, we find him. He is camouflaged in brown and green. Lincoln goes towards him. He steps on a stick and the sniper turns towards him. Before Lincoln can react, the sniper has him at gunpoint. "Put the gun down, and I might spare your friend." The shooter says. Before he kills Lincoln I shoot Lincolns shoulder, which  goes all the way through and hits the sniper in the heart, killing him. "Nice shot." Lincoln says.

We head back to camp, and once we get there I see the pain in Lexa's face. "Commander." I hear many of the grounders say as they bow there heads. "We need revenge for this!" I hear one of them yell. "We will get revenge! Jus drein jus daun!" I hear Lexa yell. The grounders that aren't injured chant with her.

I help some of the injured grounders and go over to Octavia. She was in the woods when the attack happened. "Where were you and the commander when the bomb dropped?" Octavia asks me accusingly. I know my face gives it away. "You and the commander were in the tent and suddenly you disappear right before the bomb dropped. Did you know?" I don't say anything. I can't. "Tell me you didn't know." Octavia says angrily. "I can't tell you that." I reply sadly. "You let a bomb drop on us! You let almost everyone die! If I wasn't in the woods you would've let me die!" "I'm sorry. But you can't tell anyone." "I know. Or else the alliance will be broken. Go away Clarke." Lexa walks up behind me. I don't know how much she heard of that. "I want to talk to you." Lexa says. I follow her into her tent. "Is Octavia a threat?" Lexa asks. "No. I trust her. She won't tell anyone. Lexa nods.

I walk out of the tent to find Octavia. "Where is Octavia?" I ask Indra, knowing that Octavia is her second. "I don't know. But she's supposed to be training with me in ten minutes." I heard a grounder tell Octavia to do something with him. He might be trying to kill her. I rush into the woods. I find the grounder. He has a bow and arrow pointed at Octavia. "Lower it." I hold a gun to his head. "I have my order from the commander. I can't do that." "Lower it, and I'll let you live." He lowers the bow. I lead him back to Lexa'a tent with my gun to his head. When we get in the tent I kick the inside of his knees which makes him fall. Lexa turns around. "You sent him to kill Octavia? I told you she's not a problem!" I yell at her. "Leave us. She says. The grounder gets up. "I'm not letting him out of my sight!" I yell. "Stand down and wait for my command." Lexa says. "Yes commander." He responds. I let him walk away. "What the hell is wrong with you? You can't just kill everyone you don't trust!" I yell angrily. "Yes I can." She walks farther into her tent. "Well I won't let you." I say. "You we're willing to let her die earlier. Nothing has changed." "You're wrong. I have." "Octavia is a threat. If you weren't so close to her you'd see that." Lexa walks closer to me. "It's because I'm close to her that I know she's loyal." "And you're willing to risk everything on that? On your feelings?" She looks down and then back up at me. "You say having feelings makes me weak. But you're weak for hiding from them. I might be a hypocrite Lexa, but you're a lier. You felt something for Gustus." I step closer. "You're still haunted by Costia." As I say this I step even closer to her, and she moves back. "You want everyone to think you're above it all but I see right through you." I get even closer, making her back into a table. "Get out." She says, with anger in her eyes. But I'm not done yet. "350 people died in that village. I know you felt for them. But you let them burn." "Not everyone. Not you." I wasn't expecting that. I didn't expect for her to care about me. I can see the pain in her expression, and I know she sees the shock in mine. "Well If you care about me, then trust me." I say. "Octavia's not a threat." "I can't do that." She replies. "I can't sacrifice my people anymore. If you do anything to harm Octavia, I'll tell everyone we knew about the missile." After that I walk away. I feel horrible for bringing up Costia and Gustus, but I couldn't let her kill Octavia.

About an hour later, a grounder tells me to go to the commanders tent. When I get there I see Lexa. "You sent for me?" I ask. "Yes. Octavia has nothing to fear from me." She looks me in the eyes. "I do trust you Clarke." "I know how hard that is for you." I say truthfully. I turn to face her. "You think our ways are harsh, but it's how we survive." She says. "Maybe life she be about more then just surviving." I say, avoiding her gaze. "Don't we deserve better then that?" I ask, looking up to her. "Maybe we do." After she says this I catch her looking at my lips. Before I realize what's happening, I feel Lexa's lips on mine. She kisses me gently but passionately. I kiss her back, realizing that I've liked her since the beginning, and so did she. We snuck glances at each other all the time, she only smiles around me and no one else, and I feel like I'd be lost without her. It all makes sense now as I'm kissing her. It feels so right. But then my head takes over, and it's telling me this is too soon. Finn just died. And I shouldn't be falling for someone else. I pull away. When I do, It feels like the right thing but it feels wrong at the same time and I regret pulling away. I know she expects me to say something, to give her an explanation. "I'm not ready." I say. She nods in understanding. Her eyes drift to my lips again right before a battle horn goes off. "Bellamy must of gotten rid of the acid fog." Lexa says. It's time to go to war.
