Remembering you
"Xiao Lan! Where are you? Xiao Lan... don't leave me... Xiao Lan!!" Zhang Jun woke up from the nightmare at three in the morning. He couldn't sleep so he woke up. He got himself a cup of ice water and drank it quickly. What's wrong with me these past few weeks, he thought. Xiao Lan isn't here anymore. Zhang Jun tried to forget about the past but his heart won't let him. The sound of summer rain calmed him down a bit. He went out to the balcony and stared into the horizon. The early morning rain made him think a lot of things.
"Xiao Lan, it's been ten years since you disappeared without a trace. Where are you? I tried to forget about you but I can't. If only you were here, we would've made a family."
Few hours passed as his alarm rang, Zhang Jun got a call from his company. Zhang Jun sighed after hanging up. It was another Monday for him which he considered a boring day because he does the same old stuff every single day. He got off the car and went straight into the office with his secretary.
"CEO Zhang, here are your plans for this morning." The secretary gave the Ipad tablet to him and Zhang Jun looked it through and nodded, "I got it. You can leave." The secretary nodded and left the room. He looked at Zhang Jun one last time before leaving because he was feeling something was off about him. The secretary shivered as he left his office.
Everyone in the office looked at him and gathered around him, "What's wrong with CEO Zhang? Aren't you supposed to be with him now?" The secretary was a nervous wreck, "You don't know how scary he's looking right now. I'm shivering. See my goosebumps on my arm? I really should change my job." He sighed and went back to his desk. CEO Zhang can look very intimidating if he's not in a good mood. Especially today, it was the day when Xiao Lan disappeared. The day they were supposed to get married.

"Wake up! Wake up! Lan Lan!! It's past nine! It's time to go to work!" Xiao Lan's roommate, Sha Sha, tugged her blanket in an attempt to wake Xiao Lan up.
"Give me a few more minutes, I didn't sleep last night." Xiao Lan woke up groggily and slowly got up. She kept on having weird dreams lately. Xiao Lan greeted Brownie at the end of the staircase. Brownie is an orange tabby that Sha Sha's father bought for her 25th birthday.
"Looks like Brownie likes you more than me." Sha Sha got envious of the cat cuddling with Xiao Lan more than her. The cat looked at Xiao Lan as she drank her morning coffee as fast as possible and ate one slice of bread with peanut butter and jam.
"Sorry, Brownie. We have to leave for work now. I'll see you later." Xiao Lan kissed the cat and let her go play somewhere else.
Xiao Lan remembered nothing from ten years ago. She has forgotten about Zhang Jun. Xiao Lan asked her parents before but they said nothing to her. She wanted to know what happened ten years ago and why did she lose her memory.
Xiao Lan is now working as an employee at a high-end clothing store called Jewel's clothing. Most of the customers she serves are VIPs and high-class businessmen and women.
As she organized the clothes in the men section, a male customer came in. He was accompanied by a tall-looking handsome man. Who was he, Xiao Lan thought in curiosity. She hasn't met anyone this handsome before.
"Good afternoon, how may I help you?" Xiao Lan helped him looking for a suitable white collared shirt.
"Who are you buying it for?" Xiao Lan asked and the man smiled, "For our CEO. A new employee accidentally spilled coffee on his shirt so we came here since it wasn't too far." The man smiled at her and looked at her as if he has seen her before.
"I think I've seen you before but where?" The man shook his head and laughed it out, "I've mistaken you for someone else. I'm so sorry." Xiao Lan shook her head, "It's fine. If he tries it on first, it will be easier for you to find a suitable size." The man called out to CEO Zhang to come and try it out.
Zhang Jun's cold aura could be felt miles away, Xiao Lan saw him and bowed respectfully, "Good afternoon, Mr. CEO." Zhang Jun asked her to lift up her head and look at him in the eye.
"Chen Xiao Lan?" Zhang Jun saw her and took slow steps towards her. His aching heart couldn't bear the pain anymore and his eyes welled-up.
"Mr. CEO? Is everything alright?" Xiao Lan was confused. Zhang Jun took small steps toward her, "Chen Xiao Lan...It's me, Zhang Jun. Your fiance." She looked at him in the eyes blankly and asked him, "You're my fiance? I'm sorry but do we know each other?"
Zhang Jun was speechless, "You don't remember me anymore?" Xiao Lan looked at him awkwardly, "I'm sorry. You're my customer and it's my duty to help you."
