The whirring of Doraemon's time-alteration gadget filled Nobita's room with a low hum. Inside the miniature time machine sat a dejected Nobita, slumped against the plush pink seat. Doraemon, the robotic cat, hovered beside him, his round, blue eyes filled with concern.

"Nobita," Doraemon began cautiously, "you've been moping all day. Did Shizuka reject your invitation to the fireworks festival again?"

Nobita let out a dramatic groan. "Worse, Doraemon! She's going with Gian and Suneo! Can you believe it? They're not even interested in fireworks."

Doraemon sighed. Nobita's unrequited crush on Shizuka was a constant source of amusement and exasperation. Just then, the familiar, melodic doorbell chimed.

"That must be Dekisugi," Nobita mumbled, wiping his nose on his sleeve.

Dekisugi, the embodiment of academic and athletic perfection, entered the room with a bright smile. "Hey, Nobita! Sorry I'm late, had some extra practice."

"No worries," Nobita mumbled, avoiding Dekisugi's gaze.

Doraemon, ever the observant one, noticed a flicker of something in Dekisugi's eyes that wasn't his usual cheer. It was a look ofā€¦ longing?

Dekisugi, oblivious to Doraemon's scrutiny, settled onto the floor opposite Nobita. "So, what are you guys up to today?"

Nobita hesitated. Should he complain about Shizuka? But wouldn't that just make him seem even more pathetic?

Suddenly, a mischievous glint appeared in Doraemon's eyes. He reached into his pouch and pulled out a small, heart-shaped gadget. "This, Nobita, is the 'Truth Teller' gadget. Anyone who touches it has to speak their heart's true feelings."

Nobita's eyes widened. Could this be the answer to his woes? He could finally get Shizuka to confess her true feelings!

Dekisugi raised an eyebrow at the gadget. "That soundsā€¦ potentially problematic, Doraemon."

Ignoring Dekisugi's reservations, Doraemon placed the gadget on the table. "Come on, Nobita, give it a try!"

Hesitantly, Nobita reached out towards the heart. But before he could touch it, a hand shot out and grabbed his wrist. It was Dekisugi, his face flushed.

"Wait, Nobita!" Dekisugi stammered, his voice tight. "Don't touch that!"

The room fell silent. Nobita gaped at Dekisugi, a strange mix of confusion andā€¦ something else sparking in his chest.

"Why not?" Nobita finally managed.

Dekisugi hesitated, then took a deep breath. "Becauseā€¦ because I ā€“ I might say something you don't want to hear."

Nobita stared, completely baffled. Doraemon, his processing unit whirring in overdrive, looked like he might short-circuit.

"What do you mean you might say something I don't want to hear?" Nobita asked slowly.

Dekisugi looked away, his voice barely a whisper. "Justā€¦ trust me."

The tension in the room was thicker than a bowl of Gian's leftover noodles. Nobita felt like his heart was doing a marathon. What on earth was Dekisugi trying to hide?

Just then, Shizuka's voice rang from outside. "Nobita! Are you ready yet?"

Nobita jumped as if scalded. This couldn't wait. He had to know. He snatched the Truth Teller and pressed it into Dekisugi's hand.

"Tell me," Nobita blurted out, his voice shaking. "What were you about to say?"

Dekisugi's eyes widened in horror. He looked at the gadget in his hand, then at Nobita, his face a mask of conflicting emotions.
