Year 2025- My diary

Melvin Clyde the 27th president of Vesna. Vesna was a small country, occupying an area of around 30, 000 km squared. The country was mostly an urban area, filled with 69 cities.

So how did I win the election? I managed to win the hearts of the youth with anime references and slogans.

Vote Clyde! And I will never give up to become the best president! I will be your number one leader." Slogans like those managed to thrust my popularity to the top. During the presidential debate, I wouldn't out of Jojo reference.

It might seem ridiculous but it was good for my PR.

The boomer voters were now outnumbered and this was the age of the tech-fanatics and cultured men.

Speaking good-to-be-true speeches would be generic and boring, which why I pull off jokes once in a while during public. And I had a good image about a 90% approval rating.

As long as I can separate the important matters and the comical ones in a while, it should be fine.

At the age of 26, I managed to win the office. I refurbished the office to have a neat design, with anime posters on the wall. The top of his decent table was high-end computer specs and a comfortable gamer seat.

My secretary and officials were slightly bothered by this since it was informal. Especially the media is making a mockery of me, but I don't give a fly what random internet trolls think. I briefly explained to them that it was needed to show how close our relationship was to Japan.

Vesna was located near the pacific ocean and has been long good trading deals with Japan specifically. But not only in Japan, but my country has also been a member of all countries and held no grudges against any.

Although Vesna had a dark history with the brits who colonized us during pre-colonial periods. We managed to gain independence during the pre-world war 2 era by the US, thus most of our culture was influenced by them. Thus, our language was mostly English.

In the current era, Middle-east, the US, EU, and SEA, Vesna formed a decent relationship with us in terms of business and trading.

The only issue I had was the uncensored anime sex videos released by Japan. I have been opening this up whenever I meet their prime minister, only for my words to get ignored, and he would often change the topics.

It caused me to sigh.

Due to our country being distant, we were far from any political conflicts.

The country that I ruled had an average of 500 billion US dollars of GDP every year, most of the exports we have were from microchips and machinery. While the import we usually receive from the food and agriculture. We live in a cold climate, our crops don't grow well.

Vesna doesn't have enough land area of a farm to support the needs of the population. Thus we rely most on foreign imports.

The reason our country has grown so much technologically was due to a certain company.

One of the CEO of Razin Tech, Razin Wulian was born in India, though he had citizenship in Vesna. His company had already reached overseas due to it being the pioneer of innovation. One could only dream of acquiring these technologies like AI. He was a popular billionaire and was even featured in Forbes magazine.

Razin was also a good friend of mine, a cultured man who even tried to compete against NASA and Tesla. He had an ongoing space station just close to his main office, it was just being built.

The country had a population of 4.3 million. Though the population was decreasing rapidly, it was only a matter of time where the population would plunge and crumble our country.

We were even inviting immigrants in but it was situated far that our country would often go unnoticed.

This was why I added incentives for those who have families, like additional wages for them.

But in all seriousness, I was a hard worker when I got into office. There were lots of meeting with my cabinet members, thinking of rewriting certain laws, attempting to solve the issues in my country regarding health and education.

I just realized the education system was kinda bad that I was looking for alternatives. As for the health department, I have been attempting to bring free healthcare. Well, socialism was a good thing if done well.

In my time I built several infrastructures, from skyscrapers, department buildings, hospitals, and even funding the starting businessmen. I even poured the budget on the military and navy. Security was important after all despite the calm climate.

Since we were located near the pacific ocean, earthquakes and storms were common. The buildings and roads were reinforced for those reasons. We went through a strong earthquake once but managed to receive cracks and minor damage.

I doubled the wages of the military and borrowed loans from the world bank. I would have to think of how to pay it for later.

Though my loan from the other countries was unreasonably high that it caused my officials some concern. It amounted to nearly about 6 trillion US dollars in debt, including the assets and the military, technological and scientific types of equipment sent from the US and EU.

But it was no big deal. It caused the advancement of my country to skyrocket. The country became self-sustaining since we now became manufacturers of different industries from micro-chips, pieces of equipment, appliances, and several commercial needs.

Though we still had a lingering debt from the world bank. I had some plans but if nothing would work I would have leave it to the next president. Like every politician in history.

I was a political science instructor at my local university for a year. I had decent records of my previous government positions. I despised corruption that I'd even sometimes use my salary to add to the budget.

I had 3 years of military background and even took an airforce program since when I was a child I liked flying, but I was disappointed since the program didn't let me achieve my dream to fly across the world. Many flighting paths were restricted and most flight exercises were not even for me. I spent most of my time in my office watching anime and do some paperwork.

It was good but I got bored too fast.

On a whim, I thought of running for president. I didn't know why but ruling a country might be fun.

It was just 3 months of my presidency and many changes have been seen.

When Melvin was bored, he would often visit the firing range. His ears were covered with headphones as he fired his colt pistol on the target. He placed some of the ammo into his pocket.

His secretary entered the room. She went behind him and bowed slightly. "Excuse me, sir, the cabinet issued a meeting with you."

"It's about the debt right?" Melvin sighed. "I already explained in 5 full pages and if there is a meeting incoming just tell Hannah she'll join for me."

"Uh... No sir, this is different." There was some urgency in her voice.

Melvin placed the weapon in his pocket for now. He went to assess it since it caught his attention.

His secretary briefed him.

According to the Razin Space Foundation, a sub-branch of the Razin Tech company, there was a large asteroid 1 kilometer across approaching their island.

Melvin called Razin over the phone. He called. "Razin, how's the situation?"

"Mr. President, looks like a large asteroid has already entered our atmosphere, based on our calculation on its trajectory it's coming right at us," Razin said.

Melvin approached the window and swept the curtain to the side, there he could see an orange tinge scar on the sky. It was growing large every minute. "Are you serious? The pacific ocean is very large, the possibility of us getting hit is less than 1%."

"Uh... But it's not zero."

Melvin nodded. "Well, you have a point."

"You know if we solve this, we better eat somewhere."

Melvin chuckled. "Your treat. Let's try the Western Dragon Restaurant next." Both of them were good friends even before he won the election. In fact, most of his campaign budget was from his help.

"Mr. President. I have some new findings."

"Huh? What is it?"

"It ain't an asteroid but.... It kinda looks like a truck doesn't it?"

A photo was sent on his phone. It was a picture of the object when it was still in space. Looking at it closely, it was an unknown asteroid with some semblance of it being a truck. "Well... Yeah."

No one even saw this coming, it was as if it just emerged in the atmosphere above them. Otherwise, NASA or any space agencies could have detected it.

Just like when anime protagonists couldn't see the truck approaching when they're crossing the streets.

The asteroid was faster than they expected. It was now close.

As the object was nearing in, his secretary ran up to him. "Mr. President!" She was worried since he was on its path. But he knew nowhere was safe.

Before they knew it, the object slammed on the country. Leaving a giant crater that was quickly occupied by the running waters of the ocean.
