chapter Six

She walked into his company confidently putting on a navy blue long sleeve dress, a golden chain necklace with matching stud earrings and a golden coloured bangles. She was putting on a coloured still-toe hills and a navy blue handbag. As she approached Logan jack's secretary and before she opened her mouth to say anything, the secretary just told her " right this way"... She doesn't want to stop her again from going in because of the scenario that took place yesterday,"Brace yourself and make sure you look good" she told her which she felt was strange, what was the need for that? she soliloquized and then turned the door knob and the door opened, as soon as she took a step in she felt a swarm of flash lights hit her in her eyes "What is going on here?" she wondered as she took a proper look, there were reporters everywhere taking pictures of her, "Could someone pls tell me what is going on here?" She said in her mind. As if someone read her mind, she felt a hand slide into her waist, she turned her head only to see Logan jack by her side, holding her closely as if there was something really between them as he stared to the press ahead in front of them. "I'm not going to stand for this" she said as she struggled to get herself free but his grip was strong and he drew closer that she unknowingly felt her heartbeat increase.

" Stay cool and look good if you want to save your father" he whispered into her ear which slowly left her kind of paralyzed. She just saw herself standing there beside him and smiling when it was not even from her heart.

The two of them sat in front of the press as they got ready to answer questions they press were to throw at them. The funny part is that her heart has refused to step back into its usual beating rate. Was it because he was too close? she thought.

" Where did you two meet?" the press asked.

"At a meeting."

" In an elevator" they both spoke suddenly at the same time and ended up saying different things. Logan turned to her and gave her an annoying look, "well am annoyed with you too if you don't know " Maya quietly said to herself.

" We met in an elevator after having a meeting " Logan jack spoke, and it was amazing on how he matched our lies. He must be very good at lying and still with the same straight cold face. This felt like a meeting with the press and I hate it.

"Can you please give us a brief detail about how it started between you two?" A man asked as he stood up, as usual Logan started answering.

" Like I said, we met in an elevator after an important meeting and we suddenly kicked of in having a good conversation and we realised we had a lot in common. We couldn't stop there so we took down each other's phone number and soon we started dating secretly then I proposed and she accepted. I felt is better we tell the world now before people start making up different stories about us". He ended and she saw herself staring at him, how in the world can he tell such a lie without even glitching? He told that lie so good that I wonder if that had really happened... the case wouldn't have been this way but yet again she was glad that there was nothing between the liar and herself. The reporters bought his fake story line as well.

" Is that the engagement ring in your hand miss Maya?" A woman asked as she pointed to the ring in her third finger, she took a look at it and turned to Logan, he was starring at her but she couldn't read his expression. He was probably thinking, so she wore the ring and that means that I've won over her. She really hoped he doesn't think that way. She just wore the ring because she wasn't ready to face his threats on her dad's career.

" yes" she said in a low voice that she couldn't even recognise her own voice. Logan gave her a glare and she knew what that meant,he was probably saying, "Make it look more real!" The press came closer and took a closer picture of the ring, probably something to keep the magazine about celebrity engagement ring.

" Miss Maya, how do you feel to be the lucky woman chosen by Mr Logan jack? the press asked again.

" You have no idea how indeed lucky I am" she said sarcastically. She took a look at Logan who raised his eyebrows at her. Gosh why was it so hard to read this guy's mind? It was as if he built this huge impenetrable wall around him.

" Mr Logan, when exactly are we expecting you two to tie the knot? another man asked from the press.

"In exactly a weeks time" he replied.

What?! that is in four days time! she stared at in shock.

" The exact date will be released to you all later, that will be all for now." Logan told them coldly then he suddenly grabbed Maya's hand and made her stay up with him. "But.. " the press complained and tried to come closer for more questions but the security men around them blocked their way, so Logan successfully pulled confused old Maya away from them and out of the room. He should let her hand go by now since they are finally away from the press and this charade to stop but no he didn't, he dragged her all the way to his office without caring if she was keeping up with him or not. She pushed her to sit on the sofa in his office and then finally let go of her hand. She found myself panting a bit and he paced to and fro in front of her.

" What you did today was wrong" Maya blurted out

"Just shut up! " he snapped at her and continued pacing.

" How dare he? I just told the biggest lie in my life because of him! " She said as she gently stood up to her feet and left her handbag on the sofa. "What in the world is your problem? You made me put on all that charade in the press and now you're putting on another act in front of me... "what exactly is your problem?" She asked him out of frustration. He stopped pacing and turned to her with his hands in his pockets.

" Be quiet " he told her in a suddenly cold manner but that didn't stop her from almost exploding in anger.

" Don't tell me what to do! " She warned him angrily.

He took steps closer then she took one backward which made her fall back on the sofa.

" No matter what you do, I have set my mind from making you mine so don't forget that." Logan told her coldly which left her in a confused state. 'What she exactly did in front of the press,was it not what he wanted? What is his problem? What is he scared of?" She siloloquized as she picked up her handbag and stood up after he took a step backward.

" No matter what you do, I can't never truly be yours." She told him the sentimental truth then she walked away leaving him to his mystery thoughts.
